Thank you for the great video! Pivots are my favourite element so it’s sad to see so many of them removed. The new fouetté is going to be the backwards illusion which looks nicer imo, but I have a feeling the same BDs are going to appear on 90% of the routines. I think the most diverse era was 2005-2012, when each apparatus had its own mandatory elements. This was really cool to watch.
i adore illusion backward, when it is performed correctly with the trunk at horizontal or - even better but harder to find - below horizontal. i hope to see it performed more often along with front split without help and ring without help 😍
interesting. some of the changes look to be encouraging a bit more diversity, which is always a positive sign. here's hoping we see a few less fouettes this quad; they're lovely when executed well but there was just SO many in the last quad and it seemed like the judging was not entirely consistent. i'm also genuinely surprised they've upgraded what i used to less than affectionally call the rugburn series (ie rotations on the ground). i suspect we'll see quite a few more of those since that's easy points with less risk for execution deductions for many athletes. imo, it'll still be tricky to work them into choreo seamlessly, but that extra .1 might just be enough to make it worth the trouble. and as much as i enjoy seeing a well-executed kanaeva, they're hard on the knees and ankle and require an inordinate amount of repetition to get right. probably a net positive to make it less valuable and reduce how much time is spent practicing them, esp among juniors and youth. not enough downgrade to make them worthless for those who already have them, but great for next gen who can use that time to expand their repertoire instead. i havent seen the AD changes yet, but hopefully those will further encourage some of the creativity i felt the last 2 quads were lacking. It's hard to tell whether attempts to improve choreo diversity will work until coaches get into maximum point efficiency mode the second year, but i'm cautiously optimistic.
thank you for your insightful analysis 😊 if you are interested, i have published some posts about DA on my instagram page already, should you own an instagram account. it's @saem_rg over there 😇
Kabaeva from the floor is one of the hardest and most impressive elements in RG in my opinion ): I don’t get why balances should be valued more than pivots (maybe to prevent injuries?)
it is a very impressive and complex element indeed, even if gymnasts like alex make it look so effortless 😯 i think you are right: the changes in the different CoPs try to bring balance and health, they do not only serve the purpose of making rg look more interesting to the audience
I'm new to this sport and even these videos have me confused! I'm so lost! I want to understand what's going on in the routine and why some gymnasts are better than others. But it's not obvious to me, and idk what attitude position is. Help!
hi! this video shows only the changes in the values of pivot elements from one Code of Points to the new one, so it's obviously not suitable for whom would like to understand how rg works in general, starting from the very beginning. I would suggest to take a look at all my videos, selecting the topics you feel like you want to take up first 😊
@saem_rg hi! Wat do you suggest for a newbie to the sport who doesn't understand why dina averina always beat arina averina when, to my eye, they were equal in technical? I can't tell who is better than the next gymnast. Do u have videos on that?
@strawberrylime33 to do this you need firstly to read and study the whole Code of Points, as it is not only about "being technical" in RG (value of Difficulties of Body, number and value of Difficulties of Apparatus, Artistry etc), then you can watch some of my educational videos that exemplify the contents you read and studied in the Code of Points. To fully - or almost - understand and analyze the subject, you need to have a variable amount of days to go by before you can fairly manage it all 😊 so, good luck!
The back split w w/out ring being worth only 0.1 tent less than the Kabaeva from starting position is a big joke to me. It feels like RGYM keeps having several miscarriages comparing to what we have accomplished in this sport. The CoP should make a billboard saying BDs athletes are not welcome anymore. What a joke!!!
the Base rotations for back split with and without ring and for kabaeva from the floor are both 0.5 🤔 i see your point, but the TC has to make crucial decisions as each cycle goes by, trying to make rg look cool to the audience but also healthy for the gymnasts... sometimes they do not really manage it, but sometimes they do 🤷♂️
Thank you for the great video!

The Kanaeva turn should be at least a 0.4
Maybe the CoP doesn't really encourage back flexibility anymore 😢
Since the standards are so much plain Jane nowadays, the CoP should bring artistic gymnasts to perform these jokes instead.
These videos are amazing! Thank you !

So it doesnt matter anynore if the pivot is on relevé or flat foot? Additional turn are going to be +1?
for back split with and without ring, yes
