    Another great informative video H & M. Well done!It might interest our American visitors to know that when you cross the border from North Ireland to South Ireland your " Imperial Pint" of stout changes automatically into a "Metric Litre" of stout. So buy all your beer in Lough Erne (North Ireland) and when you see those marker buoys change to Red & Green on the Shannon just, watch your glass fill up again!Stephen

      Well, it's great that you enjoy the videos Stephen. Trust me on this one, we still sell/buy our beer by the pint here (or strictly speaking by the 569 Mls! seeing as we are metric!) but I grant you that it's way cheaper up north👍 We always stock up when we're up there 😀

    Really enjoy watching your vlog here in California. I have been using them to learn about Lough Erne for my trip there in August. Will be staying in a lodge at the Killyhelvin.

      Glad you enjoy the vlogs👍 The lodges at the Killyhelvin are lovely, and right by the water's edge. Can't guarantee that the weather will as good as you're used to 😀

    Everyone says I should build a wheelhouse on the barge I’m not so keen, it reassures me that you never use your inside steering position,why is that. Thanks for the video it’s full of information that I’m sure I will find useful in the future. Cheers

      Hi Paul, Yes people (including Mar!) always tell me to get a canopy. But I like to be out in the air, with good visibility. When we sailed Driftwood to the UK & France I steered from outside for 24Hrs. Also I think it would spoil the look of the boat too, and it would make mooring up in the wind a lot more difficult. Glad you enjoy the vogs, sure they're a bit of fun 😃

    What would be the biggest fraught and air draught you could get away with and still be able to use the whole Shannon, Erne and river system comfortably? Love the videos. Thanks

      Hi Damien,
      The less of each is always best, we draw just over one Mtr. And our air draft is 3.2mtr with everything down. To do the Grand and Royal canals and the Barrow you need less water draft, and probably less air draft too👍

    Nice video. We plan to go from Belturbet to Carrick on Shannon in July. Any tips for us? Are there any low bridges?

    We enjoyed watching your vlog. Have you had more rain than usual in Ireland this year?

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Caroline, Glad you enjoy the vlogs. I don't think it rained any more that usual. That vlog was recorded mid March, and that would be normal enough for that time of year. It has dried up now and all the water levels have dropped back down to summer levels. They are forecasting 20 Deg C this weekend here 😃

    Great videos. What is the air draft of Driftwood with the screen up/down?

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Colin, our air draft is 3m with the scree up, not sure off hand what it is with the screen down, I think it might be 2.6m.

      Thanks. I think ours is 3.2 with the screen up. Leitrim village could be a challenge!

      You should be okay Colin once the river is at normal summer levels. 🤞
