yep heather was right in this case. original will be better in the whole picture off the project. and no safety glasses lol. that's a great donor piece and in good quality. great work again my friend.
You're more tolerant that I am using that cutting wheel in that car! I'd never have been able to get away from the noise and the dust! I probably would have used a sawzall and cursed at it a lot.
That was the easy part of the dash repair. LOL I just got that same angle grinder and haven't used it yet. Looks like it will be useful. Heather's sneakers have to be the whitest I've seen outside of a shoe store. Great series and looking forward to more.
Yeah, I would have taken…the front half of the car home. And drilled the spotwelds….at my home, and take my time. And replace the whole panel. As VW would have done. This is going to make TONS of work including body filler to make it smooth, to get it correct. Not to mention looking at the other side….all those welds. Wow! Oh well, to each his own.
Thats 100% more vintage vws in a wreck yard than anywhere near me. I do think you could've gotten a repop dash new from the Klockker group, but not sure how much it'd set you back. Hopefully that wreck yard didn't wreck your wallet for the dash! Good luck on the 67, I used to have a 66, but now have a 69 that needs a lot of work.
Would have been less work in the end job to drill the spot welds in the windshield opening and put it back together at the spot welds than welding all the way across the top of the dash. Also could have cut over to the A pillars into the door jamb and butt welded all the way down to the bottom and meet up with the lower area of the dash where it’s spot welded. None of the welds would have been visible from the trunk side when finished. And a lot less work. Sounds confusing I know but would have been cleaner. At the bottom same, drill the spot welds and put it back together there on each side.
Dash for the Dash!
I love that VW Zenith Blue color.
If she ain’t happy! Nobody’s happy. 😎
Nice job on cutting out the dash. !!
Gotta love a lady that enjoys a salvage yard. 👍👍👍
LoL! There's all kinds of stuff cut from that donor car. 😀
Oh heck yeah!! I’m going back for more!! 😂

I wish they had electric there, I would’ve definitely taking my sawsall for sure. I think that cut off wheel was a pain in the ass lol
Love that Ryobi cutting tool! Might have to get me one!
Make the most of the scrapyard guys, where I live in the UK we have nothing like that regarding old VWs
Good job on the dash.. can't wait to see what's next Have a good weekend .
Love these videos! Just found your channel today. We have a 67 here and looks like we're going to learn a lot from you, thanks 😊 👍
Thank you! I appreciate that!
I wish I had that radio
I’ll have to check, I think I have a couple of those around.
@@SladesVWBeetle That would be great.
@@SladesVWBeetle If you have one that works I'd trade you a nice Pioneer Supertuner for it.
Happy wife happy life.😂😂
Let Heather know she's got a good hubby
nice job.
You guys rock, excited to see the 67 come alive ❤️
Thank you so much sweetheart I truly appreciate that.

I dread trying to put it into The 67. It’s going to be a complete nightmare. She must have 30 pair of shoes. 🤦🏼♂️
Always wondered how to dash and run...There must a been a lot of 1967 around, I see a lot for sale in our area on market place.
true love is cutting out the dash of an old vw in a junk yard for your Wife.
Would have cut l-r pillows plus most of the ash tray

The dash in my 68 was cut up the exact same way so I’m going to do the same thing and put a 67 dash in it without the pad.
I just don’t like the dash pads very much. They’re OK, but just not my favorite thing.
If the lower door post in that 67 is in good condition, I would also cut it off and use it. Just my opinion.
That’s a good idea, I’ll actually be down there soon I’ll have to check that.
Could have made a insert easier , any good precision sheet metal shop could make it but seems so simple could make it at home🤔
Hi, Slade, I have some questions???
