- It’ll never happen to me? We’ve been served a mega curve ball on the day we were supposed to be flying off for the winter. What’s next for the Gypsy Souls? Watch to the end
My hubbie - in his 70’s - ended up in pretty much the same boat on holiday in Tenerife last year, so we call his Steve. We got flown back to the UK and our stoma nurse was just wonderful and stayed with us until we could cope with Steve ! We also have Fittleworth who are brilliant and with plenty of practice you will soon learn how to get the little buggers to stay in place - remember the saying practice makes perfect - well it does. As regards clothing - go up a size especially for shorts etc and once your stitches and swelling go down you will become more you again. Thank you so much for letting us all know and please please take your time to heal your body and more importantly your mind - your are a lovely lady with an amazing man who bring a lot of fun to travelling. There’s a lot of affection for you coming from all your followers xx
Thanks both yes Fittleworth is who I get my stuff from had a delivery already… I’m seeing the stoma nurse tommorow so hopefully can sort out this bag business because there’s no way I can go out till it’s sorted. We have managed to get special assistance from easyJet with extra free baggage on all remaining flights. Sorry to hear about your husband. Everyday is slightly better now another week of total rest and then we will start to get out more and see how it goes xx
@@gypsysoulsjudymark.escapet7388 I think the shock of having a stoma is the biggest hurdle tbh and once you get the hang of fixing it in place your confidence in going out will return. Don’t rush - just rest as much as you can, it was a life saving operation and a major one at that - and yes if you book with jet2 you get free seats too as well as extra hand luggage, Bonus 👍. Sending hugs to you both xx
Wishing you a full recovery Judy, such a health scare you have had. Mark is a great support to you,he's super, you both are. ❤ XX
Thanks Mary yes always think it won’t happen to you but it did you never know what’s round the corner x
Bless you , take care I had bowel cancer 18 months ago , so now I just live for everyday as you know you never know what’s round the corner
I'm shocked Judy, you never know what's around the corner. Mark seems like your rock give him a beer. Hopefully, everything works out the best for you both..
Try not to let "Stormin" Norman" get you down. Stoma nurses are always amazing and full of good advice. They have a knowledge of the best online support groups and will show you the best way to do changes ( my husband always did his lying down rather than standing) and avoid explosions. Love to you both.
You’re so positive and I’m glad you are recovering well. My elderly Mother had a perforated Bowel 11 years ago, and she manages well and she’s now 83. My advice is
When you order a new supply of bags give it at least 2 weeks in advance and if you are running out call the bag company. I know it’s a lot to deal with but it does get easier.❤
Yes I’ve had a delivery from Fittlesworth already not sure how it works yet as we will be at different addresses and then away till March so will get info from stoma nurses on Monday
Good to see you are on the mend , sorry to hear about Marks mum.

So lovely to see you sounding so positive, and on the mend. You are so right...'Every day is best!'
So happy that you can enjoy some of your winter trip. xx
I literally feel your pain, in march I was booked onto the ferry to Santander, 4 days before in hospital having an operation for a perforated and blocked bowel.
Fortunately, they caught it in time after me almost screaming if a&E due to the pain. Even being told to keep quiet as was frightening the other patients! Fortunately I'd had my bloods done 2 days previously thanks to my nagging wife Diane, and avoided a colestomy bag. But they did remove part of my small intestine and I recovered well, well after bilateral pulmonary embolism on returning home.
I also have a long scar down past my belly button which is nearly visible now.
Big thanks to all the staff at Diana Princess Of Wales hospital in Grimsby, especially the consultant surgeon
Please stay well and safe ❤❤❤
Someone who’s experienced it too! Hello 👋 it’s a complete shock and yes remember A&E well .. but they caught the sepsis quick and I was in the operating theatre all the time I’m telling the nurse I got a plane to catch.. don’t think they’ll ever forget me! But agree all nhs staff need crowns they are amazing people .. glad your ok now xx
Hope your on the mend Judy and feeling better look forward to following your travels with mark , we are in Tenerife in January might catch you both 😎

I returned from my honeymoon 16 years ago and was rushed in to hospital for an emergency op .I ended up with a stoma and since then have had further ops and one last one to go. The stoma nurses are fantastic and if you have any questions or worries they are wonderful.I wish you all the best ,it is a massive shock for many reasons . Feel free to contact me if you want any advice whether it be yourself or Mark .You are still here and that's the main thing ! X
Thanks Steve it so kind but what a shock for you too… maybe one day I can give advice to on these stomas but right now I need to make friends with it as I can’t stand the thing at the moment.. only looked at it a couple of times in the mirror it makes me giddy .. once it heals up more maybe I can look.. Mark says it’s healing ok 👌 xx
Fantastic to see you on the mend xx
Oh my goodness Judy, you certainly have been through the mill, but thankfully, apart from your unwanted addition, you are on the road to recovery and you have Marc by your side supporting you. You have been extremely lucky and thank goodness you were still in the UK when all of this happened. I wish you a speedy recovery and remember, it's ok to have down days. Hopefully they will get less as you start to feel better. Much love to you both

Hi Judy, So sorry to hear about your health issues, my father had a Stoma for over 30 years and he coped very well…. You are such a positive person you’ll cope no problem. Thanks for sharing and being so open about this, you will inspire others who have similar issues. Get well soon and hopefully enjoy your travels, we will be watching. Take care. Love and hugs. Rog + Jax. Xx
Our thoughts are with you!!!We get our winter sunshine through you so hope you get on that plane soon.
Lovely to see you as cheerful as ever, it's your time to chill out, get stronger, and then take your seat on the plane. Every new day, is a day nearer to full recovery and normality, keep going lovely lady. Big love to you both❤❤
Bless you both, what a challenging time both physically and emotionally.
Small steps, day by day and I'm sure that over time you will get your sparkle back.
In time you'll be back to travelling abroad as we, we look forward to it as we know that's your passion.
Your honesty about your illness and your initial feelings and challenges about the stoma bag is invaluable. Sepsis is under diagnosed in the UK so you talking about it really raises awareness. And I Imagine that others with stoma bags who didn't find the transition easy are glad that this much needed conversation is being had.
Well done for having the courage to speak out.
Sending happy healing vibes xxxx
It’s a challenge for sure and at first when I got this awful poo bag I wasn’t going to mention it on here … but my daughter said mum do it you have such an audience you could get it out there so thanks to my lovley Tasha I did it xxx
Judy take care and allow time for your recovery, you never know what is round the corner, so stay positive for December x
Wow Judy so so glad you're on the mend and that after a time your stoma can be reversed. You are so very brave and thank God Mark is by your side supporting you. A gentleman and a scholar and the best husband. Love and hugs to you both, rest up and stay safe xxx ❤🤗

Hi Judy and Mark. I had rectal cancer and have had my stoma ( Eric ) for 8 years . Like you couldn't deal with poo, but Judy, you get used to it, and it's better than the alternative . Take each day as it comes. Life gets better. My husband was my rock like Mark is yours.❤❤❤
Thank you and all the best x
Just wow Judy! Awful thing to happen but love your positive attitude and hope all goes well with recovery x. Mark a star too x

Sending lots of healing hugs. I’ve had sepsis twice and it’s awful 😢
I’ve also had a bag. It does get better ❤️🩹 but at the time I felt mortified and was so upset. I didn’t go out for ages. But honestly it does get easier. And it’s reversible so it’s not forever 🙏🏻 hopefully see you in Lanzarote. Be kind to yourself ❤️❤️ xx
Thanks Michelle nice to talk to others who’ve been here x
Hi Judy hope you're on the mend. I just need to say what a lovey vlog you've done, so true you just don't know what's around the corner. Im 55 just retired , my partner is loosing her sight . were just making the most of things enjoying every day. Sod work ive done 39 years, never going back. life certainly is too short. love you both and better health to you both . Paul
Thanks Paul all the best to you both xx
Prayers and thoughts with you Mark on losing your mum, very difficult times. I lost my mum in July and i know it's one step in front of the other each day. You're both truly inspirational, rest up and support each other xxx ❤🤗🙏
Thank you he coped really well with his mums death but he has a big family for support xxx
Get well soon. Keep up that strong spirit you have. Best of luck to you both. I am looking forward to seeing you up and well on your channel soon.
What a pair of absolute troopers ! Inspirational stuff Guys ! Look after yourselves and the best of luck and love with your recovery! xx
Oh goodness. I have bowel disease and my daughter has hirschsprungs disease and had virtually all her bowel removed. I had to deal with her stoma. Not easy is an undetstatement. She did have her stoma reversed and then followed a very difficult time too. You are amazing.!!!
Thanks for sharing it’s a lot for anyone to take in but sure it’ll get better I’m told it will x
Hi Judy. I’m glad that you are on the better side of it now. Mind yourselves.
Hope you are feeling better soon, I know you can always arrange another holiday but your health comes first, like your upbeat message about doing things now,👌
Aw Judy and Mark, What you’ve had to go through is horrendous, but your such fighters you’ll get through it, love to you both x
Hi both.
Judy, I am so sorry to hear what you have been through, you are lucky to have Mark as your rock.
My partner had to have a stoma, and like you, he was mortified. We decided to deal with it head on and not shy away from it. I suggest giving it a name, that way it makes it easier to refer to in conversation. He named his after his least favourite politician as the are both full of sh*t!
Love your videos and can't wait to join you on your adventure. ❤
Arh thanks cause it feels like I’m the only one in the world who’s got one! X
Hi Judy and Mark, we met, and had a lovely chat with you at Kennexstone, just a short time before you were due to escape to Turkey - we were cycle-touring through the area.
So sorry to hear this news, but thankful you got the help you needed, just in time! Our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Get some good rest, Neil & Maria ❤xx
Thank you very much can’t wait to get in the sunshine in Dec x
Sorry to hear of your illness judy and good to see your sparkle returning, marks took great care of you, Hope your recovery goes well and looking forward to your holiday vlogs 🎉
After major surgery it'll take time to recover. I'm sure the stoma will settle down. You've got a good 'un in your Mark. Nice to see you smiling and being quite positive. The stoma will give the bowel time to rest and heal. Hope your Mum is recovering well ❤❤
Thank you x

Sorry to hear that you’ve not been well, glad that you’re on your way to a good recovery.
Looking forward to your vlogs from Lanzarote. Keep positive 🍻
Bless you can't believe what has happened to you. Sending healing vibes your way.❤
Oh god! I've been wondering where the vlogs went... I know only too well about Sepsis as my mum died of it during covid 😔 it only took a week for her to be admitted and then pass away. You are so lucky to have done what you did as quickly as possible. To have wonderful people around you will help you and looking forward to the next holidays you have planned! Can't wait to see all your vlogs when they start again. Go careful Judy 🤗
So sorry to hear that’s so sad 😢.. sepsis is fatal if not caught in time .. we had no idea at all .. I would have gone in so much sooner had I realised.. but we know now.. any pain ever again we will be straight in xx
So glad you called for help and didn't try to get on that plane. There's plenty of time for future travels. Get well soon xx
You are true inspiration to us all, what you have been through must be extremely painful, my neighbour has had sepsis 4 times now and it’s not nice, but having a stoma as he did for about 12 months was not pleasant but he has now had the reversed op, he is 82, diabetic, semi disabled but still manages to jet off to America for the winter months, so if can do it you certainly can too, and since watching this vlog you are obviously a fighter and a very determined lady which is the way to get over it, look forward to watching many more vlogs and of your progress. Xxx
Well you tell your neighbour I admire him what a trooper don’t worry I’m doing everything I can so we can get on that plane thank you cx
Lovely to see your smiling face. I'm sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately the 50's are often a time where health can take a sudden turn - as I found out. I also thought I'd never be able to go out in public again, but I eventually did. (Different condition to you). I was however in hospital next to a lady with an exploding stoma so I understand your fear. Thank god you didn't get on a plane!! Gawd bless the NHS. Remember getting better is not always linear and can have temporary setbacks.
sending you all our love; keep smiling and hang in there. Oh by the way, we're looking at Tenerife for January so never know we may catch up and Lizzie's bionic arm makes just as many strange noises when it gets hot inside the cast, lol so you can blame any strange sounds on Lizzie ;) xx
Oh wow yes Mark’s birthday bash is Los Cristianos Jan 16TH xx
Best wishes Judy and to your 1 in a million husband Mark and thanks for sharing your Stoma story you are 1 in a million too. Please keep telling us how you are getting well …..❤🙏💪👏👍☘️
What an absolute delight to see you both and to hear you are on the way back to full health young lady. God bless you both and bless all in our NHS.
Well done Mark, you saved Judy’s life by swiftly phoning 111. Wishing you a speedy recovery Judy. xx
One of our patients called her stoma Matilda. Glad it’s reversible but take care.
So pleased you ere recovering well Judy, You are still here that's the main thing,X
Great to hear you’re on the mend. Looking forward to the December adventure. ✈️✈️✈️
Can't wait! X
Pat and trev on life on the run lived in a motorhome until recently. FInd them on here. Pat has a permanant stoma and she is amazing. I am pretty sure if you contacted them she would reassure you about managing it. She is incredibly lovely and has been all over the place with it and leads a very normal life.x
Wishing you a healthy recovery. ❤
Oh wow Judy! You poor thing & Mark you are too cute … xxx just absolutely loved your positivity & trueness to your situation xx
We’ve just returned from a holiday to Cyprus & a man in our hotel had 1 & good for him he didn’t seem embarrassed at all, keep your chin up your an inspiration & a strong 💪 woman ❤love to you both
Keep dreaming of all those future holidays & live for the day Xx
wishing you all the best. I will be watching when you go off on your trips. I am amazed at how upbeat you are. You have a amazing other half. Take care.
Thank you so much! I came out of recovery onto the ward and the nurse said to me the next day you were at bit high I said no that’s normal! Luckily I’m natural like this if there’s ever anything wrong with me I just go quiet but it doesn’t happen often 😜 xx
So glad you went for help when you did. My sister died from sepsis 6 years ago, she wouldn’t let her husband get help. My dad had a stoma briefly when he had bowel cancer. It’s a learning process and I’m sure you will feel more confident as time goes on, it’s early days. Take care of yourself 💞💞
Sending hugs 🥰 xx
Blimey Judy you have been through it. So pleased you’re OK. What could’ve happened is not worth thinking about and to have a stoma bag it’s pretty good considering what it could’ve been. Make sure you rest up and take as much time as you need big love to you both.
Omg thank god you are ok great people 👍
So glad you are recovering after your close shave with sepsis and your bowel problems. Hopefully you can still go to Lanzarote in December. Take care of yourselves. All our love &best wishes Chris & Kieran x
Thank goodness you didn’t get on that plane! Onwards and upwards, you can do it. You e got the whole autumn and winter to recover. Look after yourself. Happy shopping 😂
Glad you’re feeling better and looking forward to commencing your winter sun holiday in Lanzarote. I’m going there for the 8th time with family and staying a villa in Matagorda in 4 weeks time. Look after yourself xx
You are so brave to come on and talk about this, the guy in my work his wife had sepsis and like you she is lucky to be here there is an angel looking out for you.... you both are stars
Thanks to my daughter’s encouragement that I shared it xx
To Judy, you will cope and adapt. To Mark, you are her rock now in these times. A lovely couple that will overcome this 'new and strange period' and I bet will be stronger for it. ( I was an EMT/Trainee Paramedic in the Welsh ambulance service - in 2009 I suffered a Traumatic brain injury and my ex- colleagues and A+E / NHS staff at Morriston Hosp saved my life too ) You've had a life changing event but your positivity will help to make things a little easier 👍 "Gobeithio'r gorau i chi'ch dau" Best wishes to you both.❤
Omg sorry to hear and glad you have made a recovery… Morriston Hospital absolutely fantastic staff x
Lots of love and best wishes Judy ❤
Just think how lucky you have been. And yes live life to the full. Hoping you get away on holiday very soon xxx
Feel better soon! Something similar happened to me, although it was caused by having surgery for something else, but anyway I got peritonitis and had to have an ileostomy. It's definitely a steep learning curve but it does get better I promise. Promise. Promise.
My advice is to make friends with your stoma, think of it as the thing that saved your life and say thank you to it every day. Even the scars on your tummy (mine sound similar). At one point I couldn't bear to look at myself but as soon as I realised the stoma and the scars literally saved my life, it helps to come to terms with it.
God bless our NHS!
Hope you're feeling better soon! 💐
I am trying to do that as you say but I’m hoping mentally I can do that but it’s not happening at mo 😆 it’s so gross but I’m so squimish how they ever got blood out of me and drips I’ll never know xx
@@gypsysoulsjudymark.escapet7388 That's okay, you can say thank you even if you don't mean it right now! It saved your life - how utterly fabulous is that!!! But give yourself time and grace and let go of expectations. Take it easy, you've been through a heck of a lot!! Wishing you a speedy recovery xx
Wishing you a speedy recovery, can't wait for your winter vlogs, take lots of care love Tony and Cas xx
Thanks so much x
Hi Judy, what a brave brave person you are to be so open, your wonderful personality is amazing xxxx
