    Your perspective definitely represents a growing trend. There isn't one spiritual/witchcraft entrepreneur I've talked to in the past three months that isn't leaning away from social media, and their reasons for doing so are myriad: a desire to create content that's richer and relevant for longer than 24 hours, a desire to step away from platforms that they know are perpetuating the disintegration of mental and emotional health, a desire to stop funneling time, attention, and energy into "hacking" the latest algorithms at the expense of sharing what's unique, enriching, and valuable. I've personally not posted to any social media in a month, and it's largely because I've been working on writing and blogging and refining my offerings, etc. I've also begun posting to TH-cam more often, because I feel it's the only social media platform that really allows for the exploration of ideas and concepts. Thank you so much for sharing this, and I look forward to watching your videos again!

    Completely agree about Instagram! I miss what it used to be, and whilst I have loved the opportunity to communicate with artists who I've followed & bought work of for many years - I recently made the same decision. It's completely lost its magic for me, I've hidden my content and removed the app from all devices. I'm sure at some point I will just delete it. I've spent years following artists by their websites, emails and blogs so why can I not do this again?!
    Thank you for sharing your thoughts, love the Spacious Tarot - it was a game changer for me! 😊💙

      I feel this so hard! When I first joined around 2014 IG was really fun and felt like a community. It's SO different now from what it used to be.

    What an interesting vid, thank you for sharing! It's funny, I left TH-cam for similar reasons you left Instagram. It had been boiling in me for a while, seeing tarottubers mostly want to provoke and make money. But then someone made an awful vid completely trashing an iconic tarot deck, meanwhile lacking talent themselves, just wanting to increase clicks/money by being provocative (and utterly disrespectful). Made me sick and I left, not wanting to be associated with anything on tarottube from that moment. Instagram is my fun tarot space still but I have seen those tendencies that you mention, people wanting to just start shit and making it all about the numbers... I miss the online space for tarot lovers like it was back in 2016 or so.

    I took Dec and Jan off from doing professional readings. In Feb I offered just 5 slots. I put it out on my email list. I waited until I was inspired. It felt so good to have these 5 special readings. IT was actually healing.
    I'm now designing a specific reading and then offering it when led.
    This has let me be more creative and work on my courses.
    Feels so great!

    I forgot to mention, these awesome illustrations would make amazing wall art, pillows, and even Tarot bags. Just stuff to think about! I would love a larger version of The Fool and Strength to put on my wall. There are just so many of them that would be perfect. The Empress is another one.

    I quit IG too. I tried so hard to like being on there but I just don't anymore. It's a shame but I feel good about deciding to move on and work on new things. I've taken the summer off work (I'm in Aust) and planning to limit my readings when I start back so I can create more. I hope your new path brings you so much joy and satisfaction x

    OH MYYYYY yes I have felt that firehouse getting stronger and stronger over the last year or so, and I am on a long break from Instagram myself. I have tried to jump back in on my spread-sharing account as a small & manageable activity but I’m not sure it will stick. It has felt pretty dang good not fielding all that energy just to find the things I really care about there. 💗

    Thank you for sharing the changes you've decided to make to your life, livelihood, and presence on social media (particularly Instagram), all of which is totally understandable, respectable, and necessary. Your flexibility and fluidity with tarot is awesome -- I wish more readers (and tarot creators) would embrace that openness. Of course, all of that underscores how wonderful and timeless The Spacious Tarot is, because it reflects the perspectives and lenses you discuss in this video. Take time off for you -- we all need and deserve that -- and return when you are ready and feel refreshed. You'll find countless open arms waiting to welcome you back home, whether that's on YT, FB, your website/blog or elsewhere. We don't need Instagram and its scammers (I almost got sucked into that rabbit hole there and was fortunate to escape) since there are other ways we all can connect. I'm just relieved you will still be accessible, as I adore you (and your deck). ❤

    Just feeling called to respond here and thank you for further cementing what has been growing in my awareness about Instagram for a while. I've followed Human Design circles there fairly closely but have begun to notice the echo-chamber-like quality of it. And the passive aggressive, reactionary, out of alignment ways so many people use it. I have gone to your your online resource for the Wild Unknown deck interpretations for years and cherish your voice, and am so glad you are honoring what feels right for you!

    Hi Carrie, I have received my copy of the Spacious Tarot and I love it! I have a couple of questions. 1. Have you all ever considered making a larger, oversized version like the Rohrig Tarot? 2. Would you ever consider a round, borderless version, about 4 1/2 inches wide? (Similar in size to the round decks by Lo Scarabeo). I love that it's borderless, and I love everything about it! The illustrations are amazing. ❤

    • @CarrieMallon
      @CarrieMallon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for your support! I would love to do different sizes and versions but right now it is not likely just because of business logistics, unfortunately. Most printers have minimum order quantities so we'd have to produce a fairly large amount of each variation and hope they sell, then have somewhere to store them, etc. I love the idea from a creative standpoint but it would be challenging in reality!

I don't have or use TikTok or Twitter or anything else 'socially' except YT these days and prefer Patreon (I don't mind paying creators for content with no ads or any of the other BS. I just hope it won't go corrupt like the others) Much love! ❤ (and I'm sorry but "spiritual bypassing!??!" Um, ok 🙄 it's always something!)

    • @CarrieMallon
      @CarrieMallon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This reminds me of something I talk about a lot with my business mentoring clients, which is that social media "followings" do not necessarily translate to a thriving business! I know you know this, Jenna, but I'm pointing it out here for others who might come across this comment. I've known readers with very small social followings (and readers who aren't on social media at all) who are constantly booked up. It's so easy to hit a 'follow' button on social media and doesn't necessarily reflect a desire to engage with someone's offerings on a deeper level.

    It feels like such a betrayal when social media feels like it has abandoned the peoples. So sad. TH-cam has become my T.V. over the last few years for this reason. Then, I began to make videos and have felt (in small ways) like part of a community more here than any other platform.
    Angeles Arien's book has been monumental in my tarot practice over the years. Off to watch that video. 😉
    Looking forward to more videos by you. Much love. ❤

    I am almost new to Tarot, I have studied Astrology for quite a while now and felt I needed to add another tool, more intuitive, for my inner work and possibly assist others. It is wild out there, and I came about your work somewhere in the YT rabbit hole, it was like finding an oasis of good sense in this community, a truly authentic view which has greatly ressonated with me. It doesn't surprise me that you are changing, you journey off the beaten track, and knowledge and needs evolve, so I can't wait to see what you will produce next. I love your deck, your teachings and insights, you inspire me a lot, good luck with the new chapters!

    I would tend to believe Angeles if she cited the 13 bardos as originating in Egypt. I have found reference to 12 chambers of hell in relation to the Egyptian model of the souls work after death. It may be that Crowley also sourced ancient Egyptian belief as well... My intuition tells me that it is along these lines... perhaps to be found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, which I have not read. To call it bardos comes from the Tibetan tradition at least as translated into English, the concept is probably comparable enough so that this makes sense... in a sort of semi scholarly vernacular.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I do not have any social media accounts and glad that I don’t. I don’t think they add to any real discussions on any subject. Tarot is a personal journey for everyone. I recently told a friend who is beginning her own journey with it, that she has to form her OWN relationship to tarot, not a carbon copy of mine or anyone else’s. I have had Arrien’s book for 20 years and pick it up often. It’s good to add an additional color to your tarot lens. I often see tarot as a kaleidoscope of many colors, thoughts and ideas. Thank you again!
