I'm not surprised at this "ho-hum" flight. It's so typical of the airlines in the States. They just can't seem to get it that their cabin service can make or break their reputation. I pretty much gave up on flying U.S. carriers years ago because the downward spiral of their services. Unfortunately, if you are flying domestically they are the only option. The only exception is JetBlue's transcontinental Mint Class which is excellent. Any time I have the choice of not flying a U.S. flagged carrier, you can be sure to find me on any Asian airline, especially SQ, ANA, JAL, STARLUX or EVA. These airlines have outstanding service on board provided by flight attendants who obviously love their jobs and enjoy making you feel welcome and appreciated as their passengers. So sorry to hear of your food poisoning. Hope you are feeling much better by now.
I heard great things about the Jetblue mint product and was going to take them on their codeshare with Qatar but that fell through and it's hard for me to try it now since it doesnt really provide any useable miles or status credits :( Starlux is on my list to try! Fingers crossed :)
Thanks for the video! I flew the same product a couple months back after an Air Canada schedule change forced me to switch to United instead. I definitely found that the level of service and food options were the same as you described in this video. I also felt that the Polaris seats were a little less comfortable than the AC Signatures, especially for sleeping.
Typical UA premium cabin experience: good hard product and nearly non existent service, and horrendous catering to top it off. Just don’t get why U.S. airlines can’t get the concept of good hospitality especially for their premium cabins. Thank you for taking a bullet for the rest of us with that brave drive-thru style TV dinner menu choice 😂
I sat in Polaris on this flight in 2022 and feel it was actually slightly better than my experience in SQ biz class from PVG-SIN (red-eye) in 2023. I'd give SQ the slightly higher marks only in the category of crew attentiveness. The delicious ice cream sundae in Polaris was not an option for me back then. If you haven't already, I would be curious what you think of SQ or ANA Biz class within Asia that would be more comparable to a transcontinental US flight.
@@TraverseFlightReview A350ULR biz class is not the same as intra Asia biz class A350 on SQ so keep that in mind. I took both flights and the seats are definitely not the same.
How early can you show up for a Trans Atlantic flight and get into the Polaris Lounge at Newark? We are flying to Paris from Newark this December leaving on a flight around 6pm. What time can we gain access to the lounge?
I've spent 10 hours before working at the lounge after arriving from another flight so you shouldnt have any issues entering the lounge after it opens in the morning
Thanks for the video. Agree with you and most people are disgusted by United food service, it’s highly unlikely it was the burger. That made you ill, and more-so airport contact/plane surfaces, etc. If it was food poisoning/travelers diarrhea, you would feel that much sooner within hours. Us travelers cannot sanitize enough!

Yeah! I think we can agree that AC is superior in terms of seats... i do prefer the United bedding tho its very comfy :)
My son and I had the burger couples times and never got sick. Sorry to hear you got sick
Thanks I like watches and was thinking about a Cartier 👍🙏
Lucky No. 1. 🎉❤❤ love from Shanghai.
Sorry if I chose the seat nearest to the window, I'm gonna get that seat! 😃

What do you use to record/what stand did you use for the takeoff footage?
Great video ! i think its crazy how you flew two 777-200s in one trip. just goes to show how many 777s United has in its fleet 🤣
i know right! These 777-200's are really starting to feel like the dreadful old yellow school buses 🫠
Lol never heard that one before. I still like them ,but they are getting up there in age.
This review was very accurate. While UA is not terrible, in the air, they strive to be just good enough, but no more.
Agree with this 1000%! I hope they can bring back some innovative products rather than be the greyhound of the skies 😂

I was supposed to review SQ on their A350ULR but had to cancel due to work 😭 I'll have to reschedule that one and will keep you posted! Thanks :)

@@bruinwill99 yeah ive heard mixed reviews of the inter-regional SQ J (i.e. the TK J) so I will leave that one a bit down the list 😂

Lay off the negative. Very uninspiring video. Poor indeed.
