    This is still compelling viewing -- all the actors are brilliant, particularly Denise Buckley, the actress who plays the mother, with her many superlative facial expressions. Many thanks for sharing these episodes.

    Whenever I see the late great John Barron appearing in these Crown Court episodes, I always get the feeling he would be suited as a real court judge. His appearance, attitude, demeanour etc all are typical of a judge, certainly ones I have experienced in court.

      Agreed. A tour de force by John Barron, hadn't realised what an excellent actor he was.

      @@francesrussell5687 I have read from other actors who worked with him that he had the ability of being both terrifying and wonderful to work with. Terrifying because of his very coarse demeanour at times, but wonderful because he was always pleasant and nice to you, just as long as you knew all your lines and where you should be in any given scene.

    Thanks jezzi got the set from classic dvd shop £99 there are a lot of episodes but nothing like how many were filmed,all still exist but after talking via email to the shop there are no plans to put more on dvd,legal tv is defunct so only recordings made an uploaded can be veiwed which is a shame as there were over 800 episodes total.Enough to sentance me to life in front of my tv.

    Although Welsh, actress Denise Buckley usually had roles with an English RP accent, often playing glamorous or refined young women in things like the glossy ITC action shows, far removed from a part like this. It was common for actors from Wales, Scotland, Ireland and the English regions to use English RP accents to avoid being restricted to playing characters from their own nation or region. This means that ironically it can sound strange to hear them speaking with their native accent because they so rarely used it on screen.

    I'm surprised that an opinion of the patient's specialist treating physician was not all the court needed. It would seem that a second opinion or even third opinion supporting the treating physician could have been generated. The opinion of the CHILDREN'S doctor should have been confined to his patients, not the mother.

I worked in a nursing home in the 90s, and there was a lady in there, no older than 65, and she'd received ECT to help 'cure' post-natal depression in the late 60s/early 70s. Poor woman could only shout and had little recall.

    Excellent performance by Denise Buckley: I remember her as The Prisoner's personal maid in 'Dance of the Dead'. (George Coulouris also appeared in another episode, 'Checkmate' and Roger Parkes wrote another, 'A Change of Mind.') She auditioned for the role of Victoria Wakefield alongside Patrick Troughton's Dr. Who but lost out to Deborah Watling.

    • @JKMMOC
      @JKMMOC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gosh. I'd retire from acting if I was passed over for any role in favour of Deborah Watling. It would be like losing the part of King Lear to Mutley the dog. (PS... I think Deborah Watling was cast as Victoria Waterfield in Dr Who)

      this isn't a trial, it's a hearing instigated by the defence to determine whether the defendant is fit to enter a plea.

      Having raised the issue of the defendant being unfit to plead, the burden then falls to the defence to prove it. Therefore the usual procedure is reversed.

      The Bible makes no mention of the concept of The Devil as Christianity later developed it. Satan means someone who opposes or challenges, nothing more. There is no mention in the bible of a War in Heaven and the snake in genesis is only a snake. Later obsession with Satan and demons has caused nothing but harm.
