Pongo Harris failing to get a prosecution there. Though the little smile from the defendant at the end suggested guilt. Another top episode. Lovin' these. Thanks for uploading, Jez.
Im back in new Zealand now but 50 years ago this was compulsive afternoon viewing when i lived in London. Im watching these now mid afternoon just as I did back then.
Thank you for posting all of these CC episodes. I hadn't heard of them before, living in Canada. I'm hooked now: two of my favourites were Rumpole and Kavanagh. I wonder if there are any with Julian Curry? He seems to pop up as a barrister sometimes.
You're the person who pinched the Rumpole TH-cam name - one of the best. I watched with my grandparents on PBS. Now, I have it all on DVD. British TV is the best.
Ron Pember making his second appearance(at least) in the series and ditto John Moffat (previously appeared as a judge!). Moffat also played a nasty villain - Freddie Baker- in an episode of Minder - "looking For Mickey). shown in February 1982.
Lovely to see Meg Wynn - Owen (known to many as Hazel in 'Upstairs, Downstairs') and Pat Heywood playing Nancy Church, (Pat Heywood was one of the four main stars of the film '10, Rillington Place'), Pat Heywood played Christie's wife Ethel Christie.
@@matthewlawrenson3628 sad to hear about Pat Heywood, she was very believable in '10 Rillington Place', the only one of the main stars left is Judy Geeson in now.
25:49 Am I the only person watching this who regrets that the good-looking young man in the purple tie has decided to grow that awful moustache? The seventies, amirite?
Brilliant show!!! But I don’t quite agree with the verdict. Is it not fishy that she decided to go for a walk at 1 am in the morning?? Even though the witnesses claimed to not like Nancy, they all seemed to say that Nancy felt something special towards Joe. But oh well, just my thoughts
A "trained" person, offers a person who had "supposedly" been drinking an alcoholic beverage he would not normally consume, "something" and went to get it from the medicine cabinet. That remark should have been a red flag because alcohol, medication, and a distraught recovering alcoholic do not mix. Never saw the end of the episode because of that incident.
Not quite satisfied with the verdict. She did kill the man, so the jury should at least have been able to choose between manslaughter 1 & 2 & acquittal. Not enough facts presented to make the Crown's case.
If they were to charge her with involuntary manslaughter then it would have to be argued that her holding the knife was reckless or gross negligence which might be difficult if she claimed she was being violently attacked. I’m not 100% sure but either way it’s just a enjoyable show 😊
Pat Heywood gets about in CC, she's in at least 2 other stories, one playing a QC! Yes, she was Christie's suspicious wife Ethel, however, her suspicion didn't help her, she ended up dead , wallpapered over in the Alcove!
OK I guess there only human with feelings to someone who shows distress however it does not help one wrong word can get you into trouble. Going to jail would scare me that why I'm trying to be a law abiding citizen
Yeah, she did it when she realised he was returning to his wife. How an unstable woman got that job is beyond me. Judge basically directed the jury towards 8nnocent. Bit of a disappointing episode.
Yes, correct, she was Hazel in 'Upstairs, Downstairs', and the accused Mrs.Church is actress Pat Heywood, (she was one of the four main stars of the film '10 Rillington Place), she played Ethel Christie.
Typical judge in the courts, circuit judge drinks gin or vodka and falls asleep and pretends to be listening the pissed idiots, it's not water that they are drinking
Hi, Kirk, I know what you mean. You might like to look up the IMDB website and search for Crown Court. It gives a list of the episodes, but I'm not sure how reliable it is. :)
@@jezt42 There’s no real order anyway - each story, albeit usually told in three episodes, is self-contained - there is a repertory company of judges and QCs, for the most part - but we never know anything about their private lives!

As a little girl, I made a point of shunning both Roy of the Rovers AND Subbuteo, haha! My big brother did only buy those things for himself, mind...😆😆
Joseph Teasdale Hey, Joseph. Sadly, all the episodes I have of Crown Court are uploaded already. I recorded them back in 2006 when I had access to cable tv. I wish I’d recorded the lot now! 😕
Black robe circuit judge red robe big judge the one in the red robe in the UK court wear stockings and stilettos and he enjoys what you can't see under his table
The series was set in the present day at the time, but, presented today, would seem like a period drama set in the 70s or 80s, and reflected the language of the era - people did swear back then and it was reflected in the script - judges often told witnesses off for swearing - unless they were quoting what someone said!
@@patrickkparrker413 No thanks. It's full of people like you, who condone and enable the gender abuse of children. (Or maybe you misunderstood what I mean.)

I remember being seven years old, staying at home with "stomachache" so I could watch these. Thank you so much for uploading these.
I'm so pleased I wasn't the only one, 😄
Didn’t have video recorders or HDD recorders or catch-up telly - you had to hope for a repeat! And there was the chance you would even miss that!
This is brilliant! I'm having great fun watching all of these from the 70s! Thank you so much for uploading them!

I hope you’re still finding them enjoyable and they bring back some happy memories 👍

William Russell, recently departed, and famous in part from Doctor Who, is superb in this. What an actor.
Thank you very much for this series - truly fantastic.
Used to love watching this when I came home at lunch time from primary school.
John Moffatt, the defence counsel played Hercule Poirot on BBC Radio from 1987 into the 2000s
He also played a judge on Crown Court at least a couple of times.
And Comeliau to Michael Gambon's Maigret on TV.
He was an excellent Poirot too!
Wow this takes me back to my childhood. I remember watching it in the afternoons whilst my mum would have a cup of tea.
Old Crown Courts episodes are far superior. The quality of Justice can be easily seen to be working.
Common Law working and shown to work !

Yay, you've done it again, thanks heaps:)
Amazing upload once again- great to see these.
I enjoy 'Fulchester' popping up too.
Another very enjoyable episode. Thanks for uploading.
Play at spotting the actors who went on to bigger things many are in this series.
That's half the fun, Gary! :)
Another fun game is guess who will be the foreman of the jury. I got it right this time. :)

Interesting that in some episodes the judge is referred to as My Lord but in others just plain your honour.
High court and court of appeal judges are addressed as My Lords and Ladies Ted. Circuit judges are adressed Your Honour. That is the reason.
Mind you I heard the same word use 10 am on the morning 2003 .
