Been making these for over 50yrs, but I use Heinz 57 sauce & the grape jelly. By the way, a little pro tip, if you put the jelly in a bowl & then microwave & stir in 30 second increments, the jelly will melt, so when you add to your savory sauce you won't have lumps. Great game day appetizers. I keep them warm in the slow cooker with a package of toothpicks next to them.
I've done meatballs this way but instead of BBQ sauce and grape jelly, I used Heinz chili sauce and Jellied cranberry sauce then spiced it up with cayenne pepper.
I tried it with strawberry jelly in the past when I realized too late that I didn't have enough grape jelly lol. We enjoyed it! I haven't tried the other sauces yet. Thanks for the great ideas❤️
Are we sisters from another mother or somethin'? I just watched your Sweet Potato Cornbread video again and then this came up as it ended. I'm making your Sweet Potato Cornbread and BBQ Meatballs for our family Christmas get-together. The only thing I do different is I add a large package of Little Smokies in with the meatballs. Gives everyone a choice. I said I'm making these but actually my daughter is. She could almost eat her own weight in these things. Thanks for the post, Dianna! Merry Christmas and God Bless!
Yes! Hey sis!😆😊 That's a great idea to put the little smokies in with the meatballs. I love how easy this recipe is. Our kids are like your daughter, they really enjoy these too! Hope you guys have a wonderful get-together!
Thank you!!😊 I haven't tried this with any raw meats, but I think the fats coming off the meat might prevent the sauce from coming together properly. I'm leaning toward not using it for porkchops & chicken, but I could be wrong! If you do try it, please let us know how it turns out
Hi! No, I didn't add salt or pepper. I use seasoned meatballs and a strong BBQ sauce so, for me personally, it already has enough flavor. But you can definitely add it according to your preference! I just recommend cooking & tasting first, then add salt/pepper at the end if you feel like it needs some.
My co-worker made this crap for a potluck we had for work at thanksgiving. I couldn't believe he brought this, and he was the only one had ate and finished the whole thing.
Oh no! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience! I haven't had a problem with people not wanting to eat these. Your coworker may have used a different recipe because I didn't put this up until after Thanksgiving. Hopefully you guys were able to find something enjoyable at the potluck though lol
I've had a similar recipe made with chili sauce, instead of BBQ. It was a hit at our Christmas party at work. It tasted wonderful and everyone enjoyed the dish. Your name suits you perfectly so handle this: you're arrogant, rude and immature!
This is always the first food item to get finished off. Definitely a winner
Yes these do go quickly!😊 Thank you!!

Oh nice!! I have used the Heinz chili sauce but I haven't tried the Heinz 57 yet. Thanks so much for the great tip to get rid of lumps!🥰
I like it. I've also had it with the cocktail sausages. I think next time I'll do both at the same time for variety. Quick, easy and tasty.
Yes, quick and easy! The sausage/meatball combo sounds like a great idea! 😊

Looks great. Wonder if it would work with porkchops and chicken breasts
Thank you!!😊 I haven't tried this with any raw meats, but I think the fats coming off the meat might prevent the sauce from coming together properly. I'm leaning toward not using it for porkchops & chicken, but I could be wrong! If you do try it, please let us know how it turns out
Try jelly and cocktail sauce or sweet soy sauce.
Nice! Haven't tried those combos yet, thank you for the suggestions!!
You didn’t use the chili sauce
Hi! I like using BBQ sauce, but you can swap the BBQ for chili sauce if you prefer!
There's no salt and pepper?

Toss in some soy sauce or hoisin sauce
Nice! Haven't tried that yet, thank you for the suggestion!!
Aka baby shower meatballs

Ketchup, not bbq. Add onions and raisons.
I haven't tried it with ketchup. Thanks for sharing your version!!
