❤Hi Major, since we have applied early this year.. I have not received any response, has the communication and tests started taking place (meaning i didn't make the cut) or I must be patience and only consider my application unsuccessful after 31 December as was written on the forms.

They are closing on the 30th of June...you can get the forms on the internet..just Google S.A military airforce...

Hi major my friend would like to know what can she do to become a pilot in the SAAF if she didn't do physics and pure maths are there any possibilities
Maths and Physics are the requirements because of the nature of our work. However, if she would consider going via the private sector they might be able to assist if she has pure maths at the very least.
But if u have flight experience and good airmanship then they should accept u

No you may join the SAAF straight from High School.

Im doing 3rd year In aeronautical engineering at Wits...I have applied for the engineering part..now im thinking of applying for the pilot part also,I was not aware that they can train pilots ...I thought I need a pilot license to apply for that
No you don't need a license and once you complete your engineering degree, you'll still have the opportunity to become a pilot open to you.

Hi Mandisa, Igama lam uSipho and am turning 25 this year. So I’ve recently realized that applications for 2022 are open and I’d like to apply. However, this year I am doing my final year in Geographical science and environmental studies and was wondering if I could include this in the application? Would it have any benefits or not? Thanks

Yes, since you're doing tertiary studies the age limit will be extended to 26 years. 22 is the limit for those who only have matric.
for pilot, if you dont have a CPL can u still apply and get accepted?
Yes of course. Civil licensing is not a requirement for applicants to be trained by the Air Force.
Does being a navigator also require 6/6 vision?
Yes.

I've applied in the SA Airforce for 2022 and currently waiting for my response . When I do a follow up , I'm told that there is a backlog for pilots and navigators... Do u know when I might get my response hence I met all the requirements and my concern is that in weeks time it's the deadline

Hi Mandisa in terms of the length of the contract as a pilot for the airforce how long is it after the training period of 3 years
13 years.

It depends on how your course progress. But on average 4 years of training.
What if u don’t do physical science?
The FAF is the beginning of the final approach to the runway. It is where pilots have to ensure that their position relative to the runway such as glideslope, altitude and speed are as accurate as possible. This is so that the aircraft can make it in time to touch down at a point in the runway that does not inhibit the aircraft from taxing off the runway safely.

Yes, you may still join.
In your training have you used ejection seats? Is it compulsory to do that? Have you flown an aircraft that goes upside down? If I have a CPL with physical sciences and I apply for a job what will I be doing in saaf and do hours matter?
Hi there. Yes we do training in order to be deemed competent on the Ejection Seat. Since it is a last resort during an emergency, not everyone makes use of the Ejection seat. Yes, the Pilatus PC 7 MKII and the Hawk MK120 has the capability to perform aerobatic maneouvres and to conduct inverted flight (i.e. To fly upside down). Yes you may apply into the SAAF if you meet the minimum requirements, however your training will start from scratch since the Air Force doesn't credit you for civilian flying experience.
Hi Major ,I would like to ask if you did not do Maths and physical science , can you still apply , is there a possibility that you can get accepted?
If you have maths then you have the opportunity to become an air traffic controller available to you. If not you may pursue careers such as HR, Hospitality, Intelligence, just to name a few.

@@mbalidlamini1248 The Air Force trains you themselves... it's not a bursary as such but rather when you qualify you to have to serve a contractual obligation in return. Applications are now open until the 30th of July 2021.
Hi hi with regards to 20/20 vision, is it required without aid?
Yes, if you are applying for the first time. However, if you have already been flying and your vision deteriorates then you can fly with aid.

Are the eye tests in the selection process very strict?
Yes, fairly so. You have to have 20/20 vision without the assistance of spectacles or laser surgery if you're still in the recruitment phase.

Yes you may. As long as you meet the minimum requirements to be pilot, you may remuster.

Hi major can you briefly share with me what are the requirements of being a loadmaster in the sa airforce and the duties
"Loadmasters are responsible for preparation of freight (ie inspections and palletising of freight) to allow for safe on-loading and off-loading. Their duties include the supervision of aircraft handling loading to ensure that cargo is tied down with the correct restraint to withstand the 'g' force which might be encountered during flight or in an emergency. They are also responsible to ensure that the mass of the cargo is correctly distributed so that the aircraft centre of gravity remains within the acceptable range for flight.
Grade 12 Mathematics Literacy, NSC level 4 is essential."

what type of questions comes from a psychometric test?
Mathematics, Physics, pattern recognition and English application questions. Some try to evaluate your ability to recognize spatial association. If you google Psychometric test. There are a few that come up. Try them to get an idea of what to expect.

Since Airforce applications are released once every two years, when I apply in 2024, will I get the call to go through the selection process even though I'll be 22 then, and, realistically, how many aps scores do you need for your application to be considered in the SAAF(maths and physics included in matric results of course)? Thank you
Hello there Cebo. It should be permissible if you're 22 by the time you start your training. The APS score depends on the career (i.e. mustering) you're applying for. However, use the minimum subject requirement as mentioned. It's not the same criteria as that used by universities, however, the more attractive your academic record, the better your chances.

Nothing. :-) The Air Force recruits you so they handle the cost of your training. In return you serve a contract upon qualifying.

Yes you get to decide, However the outcome depends on your aptitude and the requirements of the SAAF. Yes I chose the Combat Stream :-) and was fortunate enough to be accepted.

If you go the civilian route, you may have a chance. Otherwise you may consider another career in the SAAF.

Well i applied for pilot in Airforce , they call me in selection in 25 October 2021 and we wrote the test . I failed it not just because I'm dumb ,just because I'm black ,I'm very disappointed to loose my dream because being a pilot in air force is my dream ever since 2005 when I'm 6 years .Even now my brain is not sense well ,my family looked at me that i would change the situation.

@@Master_K14 Thanks for your question God bless you , they didn't told me that we are doing to write the test even I don't what mark I scored . I was not aware that we are going to write any test . They sent invitation message via WhatsApp ,I thought they would check medical fitness such as hearing and Vision because I saw only medical fitness and mathematics ,English and physical sciences level 4 in the application form requirements as she mentioned its in her TH-cam channel . My family is very poor is looked to me for the change I worked very hard to achieve Grade 12 ,I have Maths level 6,English and Physical science level 5 .I don't have any plan B i have only one dream to become a fighter pilot so without my dream I'm died everyday when I'm hungry and my young brothers i use to look the image of Jas 39 gripen because to me it show the hope .I loss everything because without my dream I'm nothing .

Firstly, you disrespect the ranks... maybe as a village girl maybe you do not understand the integrity of SAAF ranks? You have no respect.
Secondly you talk about "we" There is no we in the SAAF, You know this, so stop preaching it. Stop being inauthentic. there is no English entry exam into the SAAF.
No, there is no maths and science limitations if you are black , they will bend over backwards to help you get in and qualify if you are black, they will even write exams for you and give you black pass. as a black you cannot fail as a pilot, just keep saying that you are black and underprivileged and they will push you through and you will qualify as a pilot, same as the lady who made this video.
