Making the card appear on the top of the "other" half is a move I do in my (admittedly amateur) ambitious card routine. There's a point where I have their card face up on top and swing cut the top half to my left hand. Then I push their card over to the right and use the half in the right hand to turn their card face down. I then push their card forward and turn over that part of the pack to show their card is still on top. I push it flush as I turn the packet back over, and then push that top card into the pack in my right hand. I'll then let the spectator hold the other half for me as I try to snap my fingers and bring the card back to the top of my packet. When it doesn't work, I explain that they chose the card and it's connected to them, so they have to snap their fingers... but let's try snapping them over the packet THEY are holding. Ta-da, the card is on the top of their packet. If you know card magic, you know when the move was made, but I really like the idea of handing off the packet and having them do the magic move after I've failed.
I forgot all about this guy. I must have seen him on TV when I was a small child or something. I didn't recognize his name when you mentioned him. But I instantly felt very familiar with his face and his friendly demeanor. Like an old friend that you haven't seen in a very long time. That last bit with the rope is completely mesmerizing.
When I first started in magic, a friend directed me to buy volume one of the VHS cassette series Encyclopaedia of Card Sleights by Daryl. I’ve been a fan,of all of his magic ever since. He really was incredible. He’s performing the snap double here and it’s done perfectly.
Oh my gosh 😮❗️ I had to watch it at a 1/4 speed and still couldn’t see what he did. Thank you so much Jason for sharing this guys magic with us. Blessings from Paso Robles, California, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️
I saw Darryl when came to Australia in the early 2000s as part of his world tour and he was in Sydney for one of Sean Taylor's annual magic conventions. He also did a public show which was absolutely awesome. And he came to Adelaide for a convention many years later. He's come to Australia many times throughout his life. I think his first time here was was in the late 70s. It's so sad how we lost him. Not only one of the greatest close-up magicians of all time, but also one of the world's greatest ever magic instructors. He's breadth of instructional materials covering many genres will live forever as his legacy.
Daryl Easton (a.k.a. Daryl Martinez, a.k.a. The Magician's Magician) has a ton of cool stuff - this is from Daryl's Ambitious Card video, but he also did other great things (covered pretty much every variation of the 3 card monte in Daryl Does The Full Monte, and the absolutely collosal Encyclopaedia Of Card Slights, an 8 volume series). His book is great too if you can ever track that down, 'Secrets of a Puerto Rican Gambler'. An enormously likeable man, and a very sad loss to the art. I've my own variation on an AC move which is fun to play with - doing it face up... hold the deck face up and tilt the card in, then do an Erdnase Colour change to reveal. Lots of funs to play with!
I was only expecting Daryl Does The Full Monte to be about 10mins long as I got it cheap and it was in a slim DVD case but wow over 2 hours of awesome monty action. L&L Publishing put out some quality stuff.
Ok Jason - here comes a book - and its overdue... I don't know how I found your channel, because I've never watched magicians on TH-cam (maybe it was by magic??). I loved magic as a kid, I once saw Doug Henning on Broadway in NYC. I myself do not have the hand dexterity to perform tricks, but of course, I still love watching magicians perform. I think it's really great that you pay homage to other magicians - I've watched several on your channel that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Your admiration for other magicians is so very genuine - when you watch them perform you feel the same way that I do when watching them - like a fascinated kid LOL. You are a humble soul, and I enjoy your videos. All of your content gets a like and a share from me. Here's the epilogue: Thank you. You are appreciated sir. 😘😎
Wohow! What a coincident! I just happen to watched again the other day (after a few months) this very video. Hoped, You explaining the moves. 😊 Anyway, what the fabulous about this is, he does the "same" with different methods. Love it. When the black guy puts "the card" back in the deck... man! That is a really magical force.
Ive done the tied deck ambitious card a couple of times and the reaction is well worth the 'work' needed , I fully recommend Daryls Encyclopedia of Card Sleights.
This is like an alternate universe Jason Ladayne. Hes really good at what he does, but instead of being smug and berating his audience, hes nice and positive to his skeptics lol 😜
man, daryl REALLY did send positive vibes allways, he shines, and really has also a touch of te old classics, than softness, gracious movements, perhaps not seen that much in the last part but yea, thats due to how tat works it really STUNNED me when we learned of him passing away. I was SO surprised, it really shows that depression can be really well hidden Rest in peace Daryl, you gave a lot to magic community and young magicians especially
That double is rather , striking…..also I find it wild you never saw the split packet portion of an ambitious card ! So cool how we all learn different things in magic
I've watched Daryl's video many many times, and probably practised the routine hundres of times. It is golden, and many of it's moves I use in other tricks! The fact that is doesn't use double lifts all the time it makes some moves superclean.
There is a lot of simularities between you and him ... The way he aproach to the crowd ( The only big deference is that you are more "energetic" and hes more like a " teacher " 😊❤😊
How did he do the roped deck trick? It´s like after he puts the card in he flips the deck over twice and turns it a bit, but is he really able to pull out the card push it in at the top in those quick simple moves? How does he hide the card leaving the deck? Watching the video in .25 speed it is obvious that the card is already on top before he snaps his fingers, so I guess that falls into the category of magicians union requirements like blowing on the hand... ;)
Daryl, the magicians magician. Long time since i've seen one of his videos. PS: The rope around deck part is not completely honest. He does a switch to a gimicked deck but you never ever see that moment because the camera is focussed on the spectators signing the card. It's just a deck with two halfs glued together, the top half is cut at an angle so the can slide from the middle of the deck in the back to the top in the front. I've tried it but don't like it because of a glaring issue which can even be seen in this performance. The card sticks up at the front and isn't flush with the deck, so you have to be aware to keep your finger on top of it to keep it flush untill you show it, which he isn't doing in this video.
I was playing it at 0:25 speed and zoomed in. I still never seen him flash. I mean you know what he’s doing and you’re trying to SEE him do it but he’s so smooth with it that you just can’t see anything.
I've always had sort of a passing interest in magic. It's neat, but nobody got me to sit down and get into the nitty gritty. Something about your persona just tickles me. You got me, I rang that notification bell. Looking forward to the next 245 days of magic!
That was incredible to watch! I think you are doing a great job on your videos and if you weren't in Australia I would definitely try to see your performance but I live in the u.s. and a plane ticket is just too much money. I've seen a ton of your videos but at the end you always have a short piece from a rap song and I'm positive I've heard it before but I can't seem to figure out who sings that or what it's called. Is there anyway you could tell me the song or the rapper? I did click the link but that just tries to get me signed up to a music membership and unfortunately I already have the family plan for Spotify for myself and my kids.
Hey Jason, thanks for the look back at Daryl, watching him just brings a smile to your face, 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
I watched Daryl when I was 13. Brings back so many MEMORIES !! My childhood home and my parents and magic
I really love how you genuinely enjoy the magic although you know how it's done. @Jason

I watch Daryl's ambitious card routine every couple of months! Such a masterclass!! His triple lift is kinda scary!
Daryl was such an incredible creator! And an incredible peformer!!

Never heard of Daryll before, but wow, that was an amazing performance!
The Extra beat to the reveal reminds me on your blue deck - Red card trick. The trick where only one red card was on the table.
Great video showing some classic stuff. Check out how the woman who signed the back of the card checked her dress (11.51) for ink! Cheers Jason.
Ive done the tied deck ambitious card a couple of times and the reaction is well worth the 'work' needed , I fully recommend Daryls Encyclopedia of Card Sleights.
I gotta tell you, it's fun watching how excited you are for these other magicians. You sucked me into the rabbit hole. Good on you, mate!
Culminating great magicians into your great show man. These other magicians respectfully live on through your magic. Keep it coming!
This is like an alternate universe Jason Ladayne. Hes really good at what he does, but instead of being smug and berating his audience, hes nice and positive to his skeptics lol 😜
Daryl had the best double and triple lifts. Nobody like him.
Brothe Jason,
Thank you so much. Extremely amazing ambitious routine. You are so great. God bless you.
Ive always been a fan of Daryl.

Nicest compliment to your slights that assumption! 💪🏻
Wow! Thanks for introducing us to Daryl. What a routine! Now I need to rework mine....
I love watching you watching/commenting on great magicians
Damn. That was spectacular.
I swear that dude in the golden glasses loves magic. Ive seen him at all these tapings like the ones I have from Ammar and Finney
Yes, he is always in the videos from that era - and I think in Chicago. He must have something to do with LL productions.
There is a lot of simularities between you and him ... The way he aproach to the crowd ( The only big deference is that you are more "energetic" and hes more like a " teacher " 😊❤😊
Absolutely smoooooth. An to be able to do a whole routine with only a few sleights mainly the double. Crazy good 👍
I like your stuff leading into the floating card, always thought that needed more
Yeah, enjoyed! Very nice!
Dive on in! (in Rodgers Ausie voice of course)
Jason, thanks for this, a brilliant magician with golden hands, gone way too soon.🙏👍👍
Love the ending. That’s the one I use. So good.
Crazy, can you help me to understand it please ?
Thanks for sharing your inspirations with us
Keep these up man, love these old videos.
Brad, from ellustionist, taught a lot of those moves in his ambitious card DVD.
Woah, Daryl is so talented😯
Loved it and great trick
I've just got this ultimate ambition it is a real fantastic piece of magic for serious get it 💯💯💯💯

Definitly one of the greatest of all time!
I had the vhs tutorial of this as a kid, he was great RIP.
You guys are gifts for amazingness keep going buddy 😊

Daryl's Snap Double is unparalleled.
Bro……how? How? I can usually figure out most tricks but a ripped corner and wrapped up deck? How is that even possible?
That levitating king was mind boggling
The whole routine was sick as frick, but that last trick was completely mystifying.
I wanna know the last face with the rope that is DOPE!!!

wow, what a gentleman; anobody any idea of the last one? :)
Jason I thought all ur packs of cards in the background were dvds lol u have millions
He was a master and his control was impressive but at the end of the day it was all about his patter.
This DL is amazing.
It's the Larry Jennings Snap double, and well worth learning...
Jaso!! Let’s make a bong disappear. 😂
Thanks, that guy is amazing
Beautiful act
3:46 I knew it!
Wow just wow!
Daryl is using the Larry Jennings snap double for this routine
I still have a few of his VHS tapes
really like these hologram bits bro
Usually you are posting at 2am my time (east coast time) even though I'm in fort wayne Indiana
Really enjoyed that. Thanks dude
did he switch the pack..brilliant anyway. the master of the double lift..so clean.
Saw this many years ago, sure it's his fism act, sure I bought it and his methods are just as good as the trick itself
Next Level Edits.... 👉👍
Have you done a video about Richard Turner yet?
Great video!
The art!
pls teach more sleight of hand classics!!
I don't want to know for if I do, the mystery has gone :)

There are few who are recognized by only one name.... cher.... Madonna... and of course..... Daryl !!!
Most enjoyable stay Shibby
Can we get a room art tour?
I couldn't see how you started that coin spin on your palm, it was weird.
Dude is a wizard
I have people accusing me of using duplicates even when the card is signed lol
👍🎥👍
Jason... Tell us how he did that... If you figured it out yet 😁
8:08 S T A H P
