Man, I'm watching this because I'm buying one today. Found a gem of a 2002. It's an EX with only 58,000 miles! 58,000! in 2023! Interior is pristine. Old couple owned it. It's strange how excited I am over a minivan, though. I've hit peak middle age Dad.

I Freaking love my odyssey minivan. I don’t care what people have to say about minivans. But this mini van is spacious without the bulk and it’s versatile in space and stuff you can fit inside.

My ex girlfriends parents had one when we dated. It had 156k then, and I know they still daily it (since we still talk) after 5 years of not being together lmao. I loved driving it. Really didn’t drive like a van at all, and was fairly quick and fun.

Thats good you and your ex still talk. Why did yall break up? These Odysseys are pretty cool though I've never driven this generation before. I've only driven the newer ones from 2010 to 2018. I had a coworker thay worked at the parts store with me and he had one of these and gave it the stance nation treatment. These are great looking vans honestly. Best looking year imo.

I own a 2002 Odyssey my self and I am a freak especially when it comes to performance in driving speed and take off , I drive a Si vetch and other pretty fast cars and this van after I fully tuneup the engine and fully clean out the manifold and fuel components including injectors and and default sensors I have this Van driving like a jet on highways and regular roads with such a fast take off I be leaving fast Cars behind and don’t really realize the speed limits if I don’t look at the dashboard because it’s gone . Will recommend for anyone who travels long trips and distance with great ETA and feels like a car not a van ..

My first one owner 2002 lasted 312,000 miles and sold it for $800. Bought another identical one owner van for $3500 at 165,000 miles. Drove it to Denver from KC on I 70 at 80 mph got 24 mpg and used no oil. You must do the maintenance. Great vans.

My 2003 has 359000 on the odometer and still drives like a new car. I am the third owner. According to carfax the original owner kept it dealer maintained up to 290000 miles. the second owner did a trans flush, oil change and coolant flush. I got it at action $627.00 out the door. Like any honda. Properly maintained they will go forever.

I got mine for $1800. I should have talked the guy down, I've had to replace a lot. All the brakes and tires were bad, the sway bar end links are bad, I replaced the cv axles, one of the radiator fans just stopped working, and there's an annoying exhaust leak somewhere. But it's still driving strong at 240k miles now, I got it at 230k

This car is very attractive. In Japan, there is a fan club for this car. The AT of this car is as fragile as glass and breaks after 70,000 miles, but in Japan, this car is large and one-of-a-kind, and there are fans who have driven many of these cars. We plan to import parts from the U.S. and maintain this car forever. From Japan, with love to the RL1 ODYSSEY.

I like seeing this, and it seemed to drive nicely too so someone took really good care of this car, it’s a beautiful thing being that it’s an almost 20 year old vehicle.

My mom used to have a beige one with power doors, a TV with DVD, 2 wireless headphones and a remote for the TV. I honestly loved that van to death as a kid, and it also became the first car I ever drove when I grew old enough to practice. Sadly however, 2nd gear kept slipping and so we had the transmission replaced just for THAT one to slip 2nd gear as well. we had it for 10 years. and is now replaced by a 2011 dodge grand caravan and might I say.. it's garbage compared to the Honda.
Today I personally own a 2004 Subaru Legacy wagon, and the interior has a few design elements that really remind me of my moms old Odyssey. In my life, the original Playstation, the late 90's/early 2000's Honda Odyssey, and the Gameboy Advance SP are the top 3 most nostalgic things to me.
I understand why older people go on about how good life was in their day, because in my childhood, I feel the same way about my own era. the 2000's was (to me) a beautiful time.

  • @GrandCamino6
    @GrandCamino6 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Very cool! I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a recent review of this generation Honda Odyssey. These are great! I had an 03 for work as it replaced a 97 Cherokee Sport. Way more functional for hauling gear and people. The engine actually screamed when VTEC kicked in yo LOL It would actually even chirp 2nd gear on occasion. I remember it drove like a car, the seat material was very durable compared to the more modern Honda’s. We replaced the Odyssey with a brand new 09 Pilot and the materials were not as durable as the this generation Odyssey. We put 160k miles on our Odyssey and by 90k miles on the Pilot the door panel was worn down to the plastic, driver’s seat looked like a pit bull got at it and the seat frame actually broke. A tip for anyone in the market for a Honda/Acura with a V6 & and auto trans. If you hear a slight whine that changes with speed that tranny is on its way out. I’ve heard them get really loud and they still go but it will fail at some point in the not so distant future. We replaced the transmission with a remanufactured unit at Honda for about $5,000. It only lasted 30k miles and started whining like the original. We sold it and replaced it with the Pilot. Keep up the good work! Love the reviews 👌🏼👍🏼

You almost never see these with bench second row seats. In fact, all the minivans I've ridden in had captain chairs. Minivans are perfect for when you want the practicality of a Chevy Tahoe but don't actually want a Tahoe. IMO, not even the Traverse comes close, and that's big for a mid sized SUV.

I love these vans and grew up with one. The center tray between the front seats slide extends back and even has a lever to swing drop it to the side for easy passage. The middle seats have have a button to drop a cupholder on the outer side. I'm pretty sure the 2-1 cup holders in the 3rd row is to have a total of 3 so the left, middle, and right occupants have one. It our 2002 wasn't murdered by a bad battery that sent way too much power for a year eventually frying the electric circuit there is no doubt at all in my mind it would still be on the road today and for a lot longer.

my mom and grandpa had two of these Odysseys. I can remember how I would always love the 3rd row seat and the deep storage where my sisters and I would play at and that van was in a light blue greyish color as the highest trim level the EX-L. Grey vinyl cloth seats, power doors (sucks at opening when frozen), and that J35A1 engine that has the power of Infinity and Beyond! Now my grandpa's was a Emerald dark green EX-L also but custom made interior. Rear TV, DVD and VCR Player, and brown leather seats. Now it has the same features as the grey one also power doors and such. We used the green Odyssey as a sorta like a pickup I guess you would say. We would haul some sand in our two wheeled trailer and bricks (glad the transmission didn't die on us lol), lower the third row seat for better cargo access to carry wood and walls, and used to be our special travel vehicle for the Interstate to visit uncles. Sadly since no vehicle can always stay with us we had to sell two of these best vans we had. The grey one where it later died from a bad alternator charge and transmission issue, and the green one a few years later since we bought a 2012 Honda Pilot EX-L. Man I miss those vans that brought my childhood to life where it sadly had to come to an end while growing up. That green one was gonna be my first vehicle to drive since I loved that van so much that gave memories :'(

In terms of reliability, the original Honda Odyssey was a lot better. It ranked at or near the top of Consumer Reports reliability rating every year it was sold. It also had 5mph bumpers and power rear windows in the swing-out rear doors. I put 143,000 miles on ours. It was too small to compete with the bigger vans, however. The 2002 was bigger, quieter and a lot more powerful, but only had average reliability and the power side doors were very problematic. Honda was the first with a disappearing third row seat and standard front and rear AC in the 1996 Odyssey. It was a lot of fun amazing our friends with the third row seats.

Yeah, people seem to hang on to minivans for quite a while. I also see a lot of this generation Odyssey on the road still. I had a 2007 Odyssey, but I kind of like the one you reviewed, not so much for the styling, but it's more of a base model. I thought it was overkill and a hassle to have automatic climate control, power sliding doors, etc, sometimes it's just quicker and easier to do those things yourself.

We had a 2000 Honda Odyssey… WORST vehicle we have ever owned. The transmission basically fell out. It had so many problems.

Agree, I dont understand why ppl love this car so much in the comments. I grew up with a 99 which had so many issues. It was the worst car our family owned.
