What a gift to all students and even to a nearly 50 year old father of 8. All of them going through Lone Peak...

I'm surprised I haven't commented on this video yet. This video came out my sophomore year at Lone Peak, after a very dear friend of mine committed suicide. I watched this video on repeat every night, just so I could get through the next ten hours and then the next school day. This video literally saved me, at times. Thank you to Nelson, to Rhonda, to everyone involved. I'm now a sophomore in college as a modern dance major, and I wouldn't be experiencing this depth of happiness in my life if I decided then to give it all up. Please know that there is so much more to life than high school. There are so many adventures to be had, a whole life to be started. Please, whatever you are going through, know that you are not alone. Many many others know how you feel, and many of them get to a better place. You will too.

Great message, great production, in one word: refreshing.
Girls shake their asses and get millions of views.
While inspiring messages like that get a few thousands...
It´s a shame! Nonetheless keep up the great work!

I don't go to lone peak, in fact I go to a "rivalry school". But this. This is perfect. You never know what people are going through and this shows that there are people who care.

Another reason I am proud to me a lone peak graduate. What other school would take the time and effort to do something like this? World class high school ftmfw.

No you don't. You don't see us. Not a single on eof my teachers have seen me. They don't even try to get it. They don't try to understand. At least the ones I've had. They don't care.
Edit: I'm happy you made this, I wish more teachers were like you. This is a great message.

I have anxiety......and I really wish my teachers knew that just because I'm not raising my hand, doesn't mean that i don't care about the lesson. I wish they could understand that when they call on me, I can't breath, I stutter, and it's a living hell. Then when I get in trouble for not knowing the answer everyone looks at me, and I just can't do this anymore.

I'm sorry you have to go through that, no one deserves to be treated that way. But just remember that it always gets better, you won't be in high school forever, even though it feels like it right now. If nothing else, just hold onto hope that things will get better. They will eventually.

2min through the video i was like in my head:
'no you don't bitch, if you did you'd understand how hard it is for me to talk in class, how i die inside when im called on, how assignments make me have meltdowns because of how stressful they are. If you saw me, you'd understand me. And you don't.'
But by the end I was in tears and I wished , I really wished, that this was reality.

As a new high school student. I have just started Year 7 you see, I'm 11 years old and I'm suffering from Major Depression. My parents have no idea and neither do my friends, all it takes is a fake smile. But, my English teacher changed everything I saw. Her name is Miss Calcutt and me, being the not noticed, depressed, has only one friend student I had told her about my insecurities of talking in front of class mates, showing my work basically. (I have Anxiety to go with the depression, Yay..) I started to cry once I went into detail about why I was scared of speaking in front of them, since I am one of the bottom students in my second to top set. This is the thing that got me though, changing my view on most teachers I had, she had put her hands on my shoulders and said to me, "Look, you'll be okay, Keeley. Would you like me to do something about you having to do the reading exam in front of others?" I said yes and we never did the reading exam- I think she forgot about the exam and left it. But she really did show that she cared and teachers could actually see how you feel if you just show even just a small amount of emotion.
Thank you for making this video, it has really made me see teachers as some people that I can trust. Thank you again for making my opinion on teachers get even stronger. Trusting them more.
As for other people, you can trust teachers, you can talk to them. Don't just treat them like they are just some "sorce of education" they aren't just there to give you homework and exams, they do care. Trust me.

Coach Nelson, thank you. To all of the teachers and faculty...thanks. Coach, as dumb as it sounds, football meant everything to some. It was all they had and all they thought they were good at. As other coaches told them they had no talent, you were THEIR champion. I owe you one....or two!

This really made me want to become a teacher one day though i know that a few people/students will be moved by it. What i think is that even if i do my utmost to motivate my students they will still see everything simply as an obligation.

Lucky you. This is one amazing school. My school. My school lets me walk around like a shell. I walk, I cry, I... I don’t know anymore. Sure I do good in class, okay then... but that doesn’t mean I don’t have horrible anxiety... doesn’t mean I’m not exhausted. I don’t want to skip a grade mom. I don’t want to leave my friends dad. STOP COMPARING ME. Yeah... every day.

This summer, the Utah Department of Health issued an alarming report that suggests an emerging public health crisis: suicide is the leading cause of death for 10- to 17-year-olds in Utah, and has tripled since 2007. The numbers are troubling, but they come with a caveat: most kids and teenagers don’t die, and of the roughly 550 people who die by suicide in the state every year, about 50 are under 18.Experts aren’t sure why suicide rates in Utah are higher than the national average, but they say isolation, easy access to firearms and the stigma associated with recognizing and getting help for mental illness, common in the West, are all contributing factors. Starting next year, the state health department will begin tracking sexual orientation as part of its Youth Risk Behavior Survey, which could help address speculation that Utah's religious culture could be contributing to the problem. Nationally, nearly 43 percent of LGBT students seriously considered suicide in 2015, compared to 14 percent of heterosexual students.
