Jane Austen at Home by Lucy Worsley is one of my favorite books of the year so far! I cried, it's just so well-written and brings Jane to life so well. 💗
Immediate like for Julia Adams!! But Ready Player One was the first book I read this year and it's also the first one I think of as my favorite book of the year, so I get it 😅
hahaha, I loved the struggles w The Writing retreat (btw I loved the book, so refreshing and entertaining compared to other thrillers!). Emma is great! And Legends and Lattes is my fave :)

My controversial opinion is I think the Writing Retreat is even too highly rated at 3.4 on GR 😭 my shock horror at how many people that I think are iconic giving that book 5 stars when I thought my 1 star was too high 😢 But I'm a hater 😂
I only have two 5 🌟 books this year. Ive read some great, fun books, but those are typically my most enjoyable books. Wolfsong by TJ Klune was a 5, and Ravensong was 4.5. Kings of the Wyld was my second 5 🌟
Sitting here, mentally hiding, because I have started Legends & Lattes twice and DNF'd it twice. Minutely detailed descriptions of everyday actions does not a cozy book make (for me). I found it tediously boring.
I think the more five stars you read, the harder it is for more books to reach that standard. I'm at 11 five stars out of 149 books this year. I wish I had more, but for me a five star has to earn it. I'm very happy with my many 4 and 4.5 star books, though.
For me this year it’s 18/163, but I’ve looked at my past years and they’ve been similar… 2022 was 17/167, 2021 was 14/138, and 2020 was 25/151. I must just be a harsher critic than I thought I was 😂
you should do this for genres!! like a competition for your favorite mystery, fantasy, etc.
