Especially the koi diamond angels, they would be interacting and excited as soon as they saw me across the house coming home from work. Another fantastic video Paul. To get the fry from free swimming to very nearly full grown in 3 months is amazing. I'd like to know how you culture the infusoria, especially in such large quantities?
Thank you. I have six infusoria cultures, more would be better, on the go constantly. I keep them going even when there are no young fry in the fish room. The ’secret’ is to feed the cultures with gram flour - available at most Asian food stores. I mix a small amount in a test tube (or similar) with water to make a milky solution. Small amounts of the solution are fed to the cultures every other day. I feed just enough to turn the culture slightly milky. I believe the gram flour is powdered chick peas…

To make new cultures I simply pour half of one of the cultures into another container, top it up with tank water, feed it and place it at the back of the ‘queue’…
Excellent information/breeding tutorials.Sir can you explain when you added more water to fry tank when they were under 30days and how did you maintain water quality & parameters? Also I didn't see any heaters in your tanks but thermometers. What temperature do you keep fishroom amd tanks ? Lastly do you think dwarf gourami will be able to cross breed to honey gourami? I’m pleased that you like the video. Regarding your questions: 1) I start adding water to the fry tank as soon as they start free swimming in the form of infusoria. The half-filled tank contains 3 UK galls of water and 1 pint of infusoria is added to the tank each day (1/24 approx). This increases gradually as more mum is siphoned out of the tank every few days. The important also is that the water added is roughly at the same temperature as the tank. I’ve found that if the water added is too cold that this can lead to swim bladder problems In young fry. 2) No I don’t used heaters in the tanks in the fish room. I live in the city of Liverpool in the UK and the weather can get very cold! The room is heavily insulated and heated to 28C using a radiator that is connected to, and separate from, my house heating. I’ve found this to be cheaper than heating 32 tanks using heaters… The cost of energy in the UK is very expensive. 3) I have no idea about a dwarf x honey cross I’m afraid. It may be possible as I remember reading an article about the crossing of a dwarf x thick-lip gourami (formally C. labiosa) however, the resulting youngsters proved to be infertile.
I feed a variety of foods both dried and frozen brine shrimp and frozen glass worm. Gouramis feed at all levels of the water not particularly at the bottom.

You have much more chance of success if she is on the plump side. You could try with your female now but give her lots of hiding places as the male can be quite aggressive. Good luck 🤓👍
BBS is much too big during the first 7-10 days I’m afraid. You could try to feed them with the finest grade of Golden Pearls but you really need to start the fry on infusoria.
You'd be hard-pressed to learn that where I'm from, Singapore dwarf gouramies are so common that the drab-looking females are actually sold as feeder fish, here. Yes, feeder fish! And since I work at a LFS I have actually rummaged through two buckets full of females to find two of the best specimens; with perfect body form that's fit for breeding purpose. Two - out of 2000+ females. Apparently, if your trying to find female dwarf gouramis weren't hard enough to then find broodstock-grade females, next would be even harder. Since most of the female dwarf gouramis that are likely to be encountered have very dismal-looking finnage and/or overly rotund body; these will surely result in a lower yield of good-looking offsprings.

I’m not sure what you’re asking here? If you mean take the pair away from the fry this can be as soon as the they have spawned as the eggs are lighter than water and will remain at the water surface. If you mean separate the fry into different tanks this will depend on a number of factors. Mainly to how crowded the fry are in their spawning or growing on tank(s). Hope this helps?
I’ve not heard of po1 fish food. If you want to be successful raising the fry you really need to start them of on infusoria supplemented with minute powdered fry food dusted on the surface of the water (I use Golden Pearls).
Fasciatus is the so called Indian Gouramis. As far as i understand it’s Colisia that’s now changed to Trichogaster… The old names were C lalia (dwarf), C labiosa (thick lip), C chuna (honey) and C fasciatus (Indian).
loved the dwarf gouramis. Such a pretty fish, and sure is fun to care for them when they are comfortable enough to nest.

do you introduce the male and female at the same time? My male isn't making a bubble nest, could it be because he doesn't have a female nearby?
Yes I do normally just make sure there are hiding places for the female in case the male is too aggressive..
