If I could give more than a like, I would! As a amateur knife maker myself, I know the challenge this man undertook. It is Exemplary. Good job.

I often scoff at people who just reflexively say "I'd pay money for that" on what I consider to be questionable craftsmanship. And I have actually never said it to anyone's knife/sword-making video. However, in this case, I can categorically say that I would pay money, good money, for that knife! I'm just a big fan of the aesthetic, and the design. It reminds me a lot of the famous Shively Bowie, which happens to be my favorite of the original Old American Bowies. I love and appreciate the fine distal taper as well!

Jason Duncan Yeah, I mean, you go into it knowing the knife is going to be destroyed, but it still hurts to think of the time and effort being lost.
Master tests are even more painful, because you have to use a 300+ layer pattern welded Damascus blade. So much work, such beautiful steel, ruined. *shudders*

Out of curiosity I looked up the rules for both JS and MS and.... they're exactly the same? I don't get it. The way I read it, it sounds like anyone who can pass the JS test can pass the MS test just as easily.

There are several differences that up the game significantly for the Master Smith applicant. The MS test blade must be of hidden tang design, but it must also be made from their own Damascus steel, of at least 300 layer count. Journeyman smith applicants must use a single carbon steel.
Among the 5 MS knives to be judged, one must be a classic European dagger with a blade of pattern welded steel with no less than 300 layers. There are other required embellishments to make the dagger an true art piece. Journey man knives have an allowable margin of error in their fit and finish but a Master applicants knives have no such leniency.
