Thanks for telling me about that it won't shoot the fuel until you crank the engine. I didn't ever hear the fuel pump going! My 2000 Rav4 has almost 300K on it. I think it's the fuel pump. I have a crank, no start right now. Thanks for showing all this guys! Wow, 398K!
Tried one of those cheap pumps and got two defective then got an original denso pump andi regret bot going tjsy route sooner the pump was 105 with the strainer
A great video...thanks a ton...I just pulled one out of a parts car...def not a simple in and out with it. My 99 has 267K and runs like a champ...usually...this is first issue I have had with it besides 1 timing belt. I wasn't aware that Toyota fuel pumps only work when cranking or if it's running...ya learn something new every day. Where are the relays/fuses that run the fuel pump...I got my connector off...also a chore but would love to see if relays click or whatnot before opening my gas tank. I have read on forums they usually like to die right after a fill up...I had just put a half tank in it. Thanks again for the great video!!
Good evening! The relay for the fuel pump is on the passenger side in the kick panel, but another relay that energizes that one is on the driver's side next to the fuse panel. It's probably easiest to test it using the test connector under the hood.
@@donw3912 no not the obd2 port. There is a black connector under the engine bay that you cab probe to test certain things. You'll have to look online for a diagram to use it.
You have to carefully qedge the top if the door open about 1/2" and hut the unlock button or hook the lock know at door handle. Its actually pretty easy.
Went to my local dealer on a hunch with my title and they made a key for me off the VIN, they wanted the car to be there just to make sure it would work but that was not doable in my situation so they made it anyway, 20 bucks, no chip and it’ll last longer than aftermarket keys made elsewhere

@@RevHardGarage by test connector are you meaning the one you plug in to look for codes etc.?The EFI fuse on the block on LH strut tower is good.

It's a beast in winter, very reliable
I've noticed that mine smokes to when I'm on a hill & I leave it idling. Any idea of what's causing that??
Is it coming from the exhaust pipe?
Good educational video
Thanks bro!
I have a 99 Toyota rav4 4 door automatic same color.
Wow. 393k on the odometer!!! Great save
Thanks! It's always a pleasure to fix something and make it run again.
Grad job
I love my 1997 Rav4 with 208k on the odometer. Mine is AWD and I was wanting to know if the differential fluid should be changed or left alone
I would recommend changing it yes!
How do you open these without a key I locked mines in and I don’t want to break the window or call a locksmith.
