Outside America, the Wii U was pretty damn close to GC in lifetime sales- Europe was only a few hundred thousand, just like Japan, it's America where people were turned off, primarily because Wii owners who were 80 weren't going to buy another system.

It had a good library although the hardware concept itself was not very good at all. I see a lot of people mindlessly praising it simply because it stands out from the competition which is indeed a brave act but here I am thinking if the hardware itself offered anything relevant at all.. I think it really doesn't.. The screen on the controller made it expensive, hard to replace and most developers didn't know how to take advantage of it, there was no need to upgrade from the Wii. Being independent from TVs is cool though.. But most people that buy a console definitely have more than enough money to buy a TV dedicated for playing games.. So in the end combine pointless hardware with bad marketing and terrible launch... Of course it failed. Before making a new hardware, one must ask "Why improve? Why not just continue with the same console making games for it forever?". I'm sorry but I think that everything that Nintendo did with the WiiU's hardware and marketing was quite pointless, it's what I call "forced innovation", only the library of games was great.

I really hope Nintendo sticks with this format. It's the best of both worlds. While I'm at work I can play on breaks, and when I'm at the house I can play on the tv. And all the options for the costrollers is so nice. I love that I can use them separately if I want. Here in about 2 or 3 years I like to see Nintendo come out with a switch 2. With updated processers and screen resolutions. And keep the controllers the same so people with a switch can upgrade and still be able to use their other controllers .
Not even close, Vita sold over 10 times that of Virtual Boy- in Japan alone! Vita lasted over 5 years on the market (in Japan at least), Virtual Boy got FIVE MONTHS! You did seem to skip out on some important facts pre-1985 regarding the TV Game 6 and the joint project between Nintendo and Mitsubishi. You have also ommitted that Nintendo's first sole console was the CTG-BK6 which was the 1st console to bear the Nintendo badge albeit it wasn't sold worldwide, it pretty much made the NES sound like their 1st own console which of course it wasn't. Other than that, the video by large was pretty good and will educate a few people. Good work.
The PS2 doubled as a DVD player which at the time weren't cheap, So buying a gaming console for your kids and a DVD player at the same time was more enticing and thus pushed third party developers further and further from Nintendo as larger amount of people owned PS2's

Dawn Hornsey Uhhh except a game needs more than just RAM to be able to run on something. It needs enough processor power, graphic card that can actually handle the graphic of the game, and ENOUGH storage. RAM is just the memory, and having barely enough RAM will probably just make your game lags (a lot)

If a legit version of Wolfenstien 2 actually releases on Switch(I'll believe it when its happened, the announcement was kinda offhand), the "cant play AAA titles" theory will be done. GTA5 is 4 years old, Im pretty sure Switch could handle it, but current AAA titles is still up for debate until W2 Switch drops. The Switch having the X2(not the X1) will always be a big "what if" for me
Nintendo was once a very multi-versed corporation that did all sorts of things much like Microsoft does except that Microsoft was always all about computer stuff and by extension games while Nintendo did all sorts of completely unrelated things but then suddenly became dedicated to only gaming, sacrificing their versatility in order to become a well recognized brand.
Porting those games is possible but I do not think it will happen. Nintendo Switch is pretty powerful but not as near powerful as the PS4 is but I can accept that. Why not if the system reaches 10,000,000 sales, announce a more powerful version of it which is basically the same but a better display on the screen and performance on the go and 4K output in TV Mode. I really want Platinum on the Switch. It’s fantastic to hear it is doing just as good as the Wii is.
