25 years ago, my wife and I were exploring this site. while we were there, we met a woman who was walking around. come to find out she used to live there. her father was an executive of the mine. she explained what each building was used for. she described the employee dining area, kitchen, where the tool building was located. one interesting thing was a huge wooden water tank above the complex. she used to swim in the tank. this mine is very remote and is only accessible mid-summer and early fall. the dirt road in is long and narrow I have spent a lot of time there exploring and fishing. We also hunted big game there. The most interesting route there is off the Banks Lowman Rd. the road is very steep, rough and narrow. there are magnificent views from the top of Scott Mountain about 1/2 way to the mine. the fastest route is to go to the Landmark intersection above Warm Lake 26 miles East of Cascade Idaho turn right dirt road is in good condition and can be driven faster. Deadwood reservoir is stunningly beautiful. there is a steep emergency airstrip that would take an experienced pilot to land there.

Another interesting find and explore! I think the room where you looked out the window from high up was a dining room. It had a passthrough from the kitchen and cupboards for dishes and cutlery (15:39). Determining the purpose of a building can be a challenge at times since quite often their use changes over time leaving mixed clues to what it once was. There is a building across the street from me that was once a stable for the neighborhood horses and buggies and had been converted to an autobody shop and auto parts store when I moved in, but has since been converted to real estate offices and apartments. Now that they have sold all their condos ... it sits empty waiting on it next use. Mines and mining towns often had the same thing happening ... just at a much faster rate!

@@normstephens8354 that is so true Norm. Plus they repurpose things.
Sounds feasible about kitchen and dining room.

WOW, what a place! You both come up with some very plausible explanations as to what the structures were.🎉 You've learned to look for clues.👏🏻 The stillness of these places must be overwhelming, at times. When you describe the activity that once went on there, compared to the present decay... 😔 Thank you so much Andrea and Steven. This was so interesting. Dave is topnotch, just like both of you.

Me thinks I'm going to look for some history on this one. Incredible setup, views. Almost modern. Electricity, plumbing. Like it was built in the 20's or 30's. That one place could have been the mine owners house. Big sweeping views. Give me some homework. A lot of mines got shut down during the war. Great job. Y'all are always impressing me. Till next week.
