This was an amazing tutorial man. Holy cow I’m blown away how well you explained everything. I’ve watched a few other videos on how to work with soundswitch prior to the recent engine update and this can help with a lot of those as well even if you arnt using soundswitch as a standalone on the prime. PLEASE do more videos of this kind of stuff man. You explained this so well. I really enjoyed watching this and for sure makes me want to learn more. I’d also be interested to know if you can script on soundswitch with the HUE lights if that’s all you have since you said they will follow the master track. Is this possible? I’d love to create custom shows with my HUE lights.
Thank you for the kind comments mate, means a lot! At the moment Hue lights can’t be scripted but I think that might be in the works so fingers crossed!
The whole upgrade is mint, and cheers for showing the light capabilities, I was a vinyl dj back in the day’s,Family times happened so decks went the journey fast fwd a cany few years I’m now 62, I looked at serato and recorbox controllers all very good pieces of kit but decided on prime 4 As it was the screen that made the choice I bought it last November when I first switched it on it looked like space ship computer,as a total newbie To digital stuff I bought Crossfaders Denon prime 4 course which is really good at explaining everything about al the bells and whistles
Thank you very much for your time. Amazing tutorial!!! I’m really enjoying the denon prime 4 and soundswictch. I only know the basics of soundswictch so I believe a more in depth tutorial will be great. Thanks again!!!!
Brilliant movie mate - thanks for making! It has given me some inspiration as a newbie to spend a bit of time programming lights - the end result is worth it!
@@Crossfader definitely seems more intuitive than rekordbox lighting the interface is pretty but engine let you real time override the way rekordbox does. Also it looked like engine allows control of gobos and special of effects? And how good is the auto script light show work.
@@DJLEOdamadprofessor we found the auto scripting to be very good, that said we are yet to fully test with more advanced lights! Watch this space though!
soundswitch has got to be the most useful and innovative program out there, but wish you covered how to do it with perform mode so a midi controller can be connected to a computer and it could read data from serato/rekordbox/engine etc
Great detailed video... thank you would love more... with some moving heads please! :) trying to work out how to setup so they only scan forward. :) again thank you.
Great tutorial, very well explained! If I integrated philips hue into my DJ sets using sound switch can I take them out as a mobile DJ? Or do the Philips hue lights + bridge require an Internet connection to work the light show?
Hi thx for the video very informative you are doing a great job as usual... how do i proceed if i just want all my engine dj playlists to play auto sync with my lights using soundswitch on my prime 4? Do i need to prepare track per track before exporting? I have a huge collection... can't i make it apply this to the whole collection at once? any advice thx
Hi mate, Thank you so much for this tutorial. just sold my XDJ RX3 to get the DENON PRIME 4+, I'm a mobile DJ and I like my DMX lights. What is the brand of the stick light you got in the background?
I used pionner for a long time, but today I'm thinking of changing to denon, because I always wanted something like that, that works with light in a simple way, I also hope they put the video part for led panels, because I can't afford an illuminator and a vj for my shows and I always play in places with this structure, but I can never do a good visual delivery because of that!
Thanks for this video, Jamie. I learned a lot! I'm still up in the air as to whether to buy the SC Live 4 or to hunt down a Prime 4 (my first choice). A couple things I'm not clear on are: Does the Prime 4 control Hue and DMX lights in the same way as the SC Live? Also, do both controllers run on the same version of Engine? I see one of the big selling features of the SC Live is Amazon Unlimited but shouldn't the Prime 4 have the same ability if it's using the same OS? I'm new to Denon so please forgive if these questions are obvious. Anyone is free and welcome to answer. Thanks!
Does it have any offline streaming options? Tidal has download options in higher quality? Trying to see my options when internet is shaky. I dont want to use just my usb or sd card content.
Sorry I’m a bit confused but what lights are those behind you? And can you setup a little panel on an iPad or iPhone that switches them from say strobe too orange bright lights too blue 1 by 1 ?
Fantastic tutorial it was very very helpful I just wanted to ask a question I have Chauvet intimidator Spot duo and the moving heads I find when put into auto it seems like I can only access the spots no gobos... Is there any insights you might have on this problem?
So does the Phillips Bridge always need to be connected physically to the WiFi? If yes, it's not very user friendly if you go DJing to a club no? Great video by the way!
Is it possible to apply an auto lightshow from to an entire library or do you have to apply it manually to each track ? Second question Is It possible to use the music streaming capabilities at the same time as the hue because both are using wifi at the same time Thanks again for the video can't wait for the next one !
Yes Toma, you can select your entire Engine DJ library and just hit auto and it will create a light show for each tracj one by one... It must be according to which lights you have in your address grid though.... This is the important part.. soundswitch needs to know what lights are attached to be able to make the show so always set that up first, then analyse and apply those auto light shows to your music library. If you have different light set ups for different gigs (different clubs or home & a touring disco set up for example) this is where you create a "Venue" first - tell Soundwitch what lights at at each venue. The same lights must be set up at that venue each time on the same addresses but you can have your entire library have different shows for different venues depending on the lights set up there... just switch your venue and the same song can have multiple venues applied.
Great video. One thing which annoys me with Soundswitch is when you buy a new light fixture you have to re-autoscript all the tracks again to get the best use of the light otherwise it just uses the master track.
Does it work without the Soundswitch software? If I simply plug in a DMX/Usb converter into the controller can I still control the lights directly from the controller? I understand I cannot create "shows" for the songs
Hi light show looks great, trying to get the hue set up working on my sc6000s as soon as I link the bridge on the deck and select the entertainment room lights go out? I Can override the solid colours but the auto light shows don’t work? Any tips or settings I’m missing? Thanks
If I plug turntables into channels 3 and 4 and mix between vinyl and digital music, when I’m playing vinyl would I have to manually control the lights using the lighting menu?
Hey guys! Does Soundswitch with Engine OS Lightning works standalone also on the new Denon DJ SC LIVE 2 & 4 controllers? Considering to buy one as I'm already Soundswitch user as this one is really dealbreaker.
Do you have to use EngineDJ desktop to associate the light show to the song (on the usb drive) which you then put it the controller. All my songs are only on my usb stick
Hi, thank you for the video. Will this work using an SC6000 and a xone 96? How does the lighting know what the fader is doing if it isn’t a prime mixer?
Sadly you do need a Prime Mixer for Engine Lighting. However you can use Soundswitch in performance mode and MIDI map any mixer into the software if you don't mind running the light show from your computer.
Hello everyone, I apologize because I am a new soundswitch user and I don't know many things about it. I just bought the soundswitch control one, I have a Denon Prime 4, I have already made the analysis of my songs in sound switch, I have already added my lights in their respective directions. Now I would like to connect the soundswitch control one to the prime 4, but for some reason it doesn't work. The lights move, but as if there is a problem with the directions of each light, however, it can't be that, because the lights work perfectly with the dmx I have used before the soundswitch. I think I'm doing something wrong when exporting the file that soundswitch creates when analyzing and creating the shows for each song. Could you please tell me what are the steps I should follow to export the show created in soundswitch to my prime 4? And what is the configuration that I must do in my prime 4 to recognize and work my soundswitch control one? Thank you all very much and I hope you can help me.
