Around 45 years ago our family went up to Picketts Lock to see Rolf Harris signing his books of photographs. We got to the table to get our booked signed and he hoisted up my youngest daughter on to his lap for a while. He did caricatures of both of my daughters in the front of the book. I remember feeling so pleased at the time. But now looking back it's definitely tainted the memory for me.

A friend's young daughter had a priest lift her into his lap at a school Christmas party many years ago and had her sit there even though (my Friend) could see after a while she was uncomfortable with it. He didn't say anything because the man was a vicar and a pillar of the community. A few years later he read the vicar had been arrested and found to have had thousands of images of children being abused on his PC. My advice is, don't trust anyone.

I remember singing two little boys in assembly then growing up and being in such awe of his artistic talent then realising he was a truly horrible man, devastating. I think even if they had, it all would've been hushed up. These guys preyed on people who they knew would've been brushed off for lack of credibility or seen as looking for a pay day, if they ever reported this stuff. There's a good reason why Saville preyed on people with debilitating mental illness, or girls in schools for "troubled youths".

He always creeped me out with is over-familiarity to the Queen, his stupid noises, irritating songs and general creepy demeanor. In 1990, I was having dinner with a friend who worked in the Press Office of the record company where we were both employed. Our conversation made it's way to her telling me that she'd been told by journalists that Harris had been responsible for some horrible behaviour against young girls. I wasn't surprised but what did surprise me was that it wasn't until many years later he was arrested & jailed. As with Saville, many people knew but neither perpetrator was exposed nor arrested early enough to stop their continuing vile behaviour and ruining lives. His daughter has changed her identity and withdrew contact with her parents when he was jailed. Good for her.

Rolf Harris was an abhorrent and repulsive person. His actions and behavior were deplorable and reprehensible. The atrocities he committed were abominable and unforgivable. His conduct was a stain on society and a betrayal of trust to those who looked up to him as a role model. His actions were not only illegal, but morally bankrupt, and his victims will carry the scars of his abuse for the rest of their lives. It is important to acknowledge and condemn the heinous actions of individuals like Rolf Harris to ensure that justice is served and that such behavior is not tolerated in any form.

They even took me to see this man when he came to town!
I was enamored by his stage presence and was a great fan up until the news of him being mentally ill broke.
My heart is saddened for the victims of his illness, truly a horrific experience I would not wish upon any person!
I completely do not agree or understand how any person could commit such a heinous act!!!
However....I do not think anyone on this planet can fathom the complicities of the Human brain and how wires can get very crossed to the extreme of not being able to discern what is acceptable behavior and what is not .
Society has changed so much that certain depravities that were once shunned and marked as Sickening, disgusting, unacceptable behavior are now in the forefront of media and accepted as tolerable , and different, and embraceable!!!
All mental illness should be treated!!
What Mr Harris did was undeniabley wrong, I personally believe that our Lord will deal with him as to his will!
When will decent, God fearing, peaceful, people understand that these mentally ill people need professional help spiritually and cognitively!!
STOP THE INSANITY, stop feeding into the abundant brainwashing that will soon one day have Pedophile acceptance to ad to the list of Satanic, disgusting behavior of these Mentally unbalanced humans!!
God Bless all of you that undeniabley understand that this needs immediate attention before it's too late !!!

Pedophilia stretches back well before the 20th Century. Only in the information age have we even started to bring these people from the 70s/80s to justice for example. Humans are capable of great evils, history tells us this. Take war (of which we like a lot of) and rape. Rape can be particularly common in wartime and it certainly involves rape of what we'd consider minors (under 16).

Jimmy Savile did a lot for charity as well. That's probably what he was best known for when he was alive. I've no doubt Harris was a bad guy and did some bad stuff, but O'Sullivan didn't do his homework here and makes several errors. First, he calls Harris a rapist, but Harris was not actually convicted of any rapes. Secondly, he mentions the conviction against the eight-year-old, but he doesn't mention that this conviction was subsequently overturned by three judges as unsafe. Thirdly, he says the Queen's 80th birthday was in 1995 ... no, it was 2005, so he's made the Queen ten years older than she was. Do your research properly Kev - a quick Google would have been sufficient.
