    Been snowboarding for 15 years.
The experience has become terrible since vail/ikon started the oligarchy. Cutting costs everywhere to increase profits, yet diminishing the experience in every aspect.
Snow sports are no longer worth the cost, traffic, and crowds. It’s a shame

I’ve worked for both Vail and Aspen ski resorts. The rich want their cocktails and groomed runs but block every attempt to build housing for the workers providing those services. The only option, which isn’t even guaranteed, is company housing where you will be packed into a tiny apartment with 5 roommates which sucks ass. I’m glad the workers are striking. They deserve better than to be treated like peasants.

Vail only makes things worse, they bought the local resort closest to my home and told the local boys "no Beards" for resort workers. took all the fun out lifts were under served. Vail just makes it more expensive to ski.

Really? They never did avalanche control for runs you were on? You simply don't know what they do.

Hundreds? No wonder tickets are so expensive ! Too many employees..

Tickets are relatively inexpensive compared to the past. The companies intentionally deflated the prices to oversell passes.
Cost of living has skyrocketed, especially in mountain towns.
You have more people using the same service, so you have to increase the number of employees to account for that AND provide them enough means to support themselves. $25/hr is a slap in the face for a skilled first-responder that navigate an avalanche-prone mountain.
      Get real, Boomer

Vail sucks but so do the inconsiderate employees who aren’t considering the people who’ve paid far in advance for lodging and rentals. Don’t take it out on them!

Maybe you are being inconsiderate. They are the working poor.

Maybe all those people should have purchased their $$$$ tickets somewhere that doesn’t depend on slave labor. Sorry, no sympathy for the big rollers. They can always go up the street to Deer Valley.

That’s how you get greedy companies to do something….next time you are skiing, remember who is trying to make it a safe experience for you….
