You Rang M'Lord was such an excellent series, very funny, so opulent and well crafted. I really liked Cissy and particularly enjoyed how kind she was to Ivy. Cissy is such a clever contrast to Susie Brann's, rather spoilt, Poppy. Penelope was a great addition to the main cast. Both characters were so deftly played and engaging to watch. Groundbreaking series. Thank you for sharing your memories, Catherine and Sorel.
I love the character of Cissy. She's the most level-headed character above stairs. And Catherine Rabett seems like a wonderful person, as does Sorel Johnson.

Adorable stuff. Re watched it all recently. Delicious and delightful. I always found it pure Mitford; in the nicest most madcap and bonkers possible way. The production values were amazing; not replicated today on tv….Catherine was just so very glam in the role…..🇬🇧
Did anyone ever wear white tie and tails with greater elegance than Catherine (except, perhaps, The Master himself, Noel Coward)? As for Sorel, she appears even more charming than as a bright young thing in 1990.
@@Rick-xq5mu Indeed. Quality writing, acting and direction ensured the character was distinctive, interesting and a pleasant conduit between upstairs and down. How many other sitcoms could have got away with a such a confident, yet so likeable woman? Very handy with her fists too!
What a fantastic discussion..Catherine played .my favourite character.. mainly because she was stunning ! ... fancy not keeping the handmade shoes... Sorel equally gorgeous !! When they kissed ...my lesbian bestie mate started crying ...with joy !!! What a landmark moment
What a joy to watch them both. Cissy was wonderful. I kind of liked that her sexuality was never mentioned, like it was normal, tho as he would say "I wish you wouldn't carry on like that". Just "of it's time". But it was never done in a bad way. I never knew the pilot had her wearing a wig. I'll have to look for that one. Also that her voice and mannerisms are still Cissy... If she came on a video and you didn't know which part she played, you can still tell....

it as a 8.7 rating on IMDB which shocked me because i thought i was one of a few who loved it but glad to see i am not on my own

Catherine played a great part in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, series 2, as grumpy and racist pub landlord Arthur Pringle’s daughter Carol. She was brilliant.
