Nice tutorial. However, I think you're wrong in the part where you talk about Chroma Key being a specific green color. Chroma key is the name of the technique itself and doesn't refer to any color. You can do chroma keying using any color you want. That's why chroma key software lets you choose a color and adjust thresholds. In practice a (full) green color works best, because of the way digital camera sensors work and because it requires less lightning than other colors. But if the subject you're filming also has (wears) green elements, you need to use a different color. Most often that will be blue. Your recommendation of getting a "real" chroma key screen is still valid, however. I also recommend investing in a good chroma key screen. However, it isn't so much about it having the exact color, but more about the quality of the screen/fabric, the reflectiveness (avoid light spills), the ease of setting it up, etc.
You guys can buy a sheet from a store don't worry. This is partially true in terms of using a green screen professionally made for its use and buying a sheet at hobby lobby. I bought a green sheet from hobby lobby and stapled it to my wall behind me. Works perfectly, you just have to avoid it from blowing in the wind and other crap but i avoided that from stapling ever corner and opening to a minimum. Works like a charm, Lighting is the #1 thing when it comes to green screens.
Thanks Cohh, I would love to see you make some updated tutorial videos about streaming, such as OBS features, custom alerts, how to find a channel manager or people / companies that help with setting up and making a channel look professional.
If you want to make a green screen using paint. I suggest Gamma Sector Green from home depot or lowes. It's a disney paint from glidden. It's pretty much perfect. Same shade at 'chroma key'(which btw, is really just #00ff00) IF you do paint, just paint a movable wall so you can make a 30-40 dollar green screen roughly 10x10 feet or an entire wall. If you decide to pain a wall permanantly, make sure it's a room you can block out natural sunlight if it's just from a single window.
You're absolutely wrong about "chroma key" being a specific green. You can use any color you want for chroma key, but blue and green are used for a few different reasons, mainly how they interact with camera sensors. If you get a fabric that's the right shade of green or blue, being that they are = to '0 red, 255 green, 0 blue' for green or '0 red, 0 green, 255 blue' for blue, you can very easily make a green screen that works just as well as any professional chroma key backdrop you can buy. The texture also matters as does lighting but "chroma key" is NOT a specific color but it is the technique.
