  • Our favorite and delicious recipe for Amaretto Caramel Dipping Sauce served with crushed peanuts and apple slices. This treat combines the rich, nutty flavor of amaretto with the sweetness of caramel, perfectly complemented by the crispness of apples and the crunch of peanuts.
    Ingredients:
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1/4 cup water
    1/2 cup heavy cream(room temperature)
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)
    2 tablespoons amaretto liqueur
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    Pinch of salt
    Serving:
    1/2 cup crushed peanuts
2-3 apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala, sliced into wedges)
    Instructions:
    1. Prepare the Apples and Peanuts:
Place the crushed peanuts in a small bowl.
Slice the apples into wedges and set aside.
    2. Make the Caramel:
In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently to combine.
Heat the mixture over medium-high heat without stirring, swirling the pan occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Watch the sugar mixture closely as it turns from clear to a light golden color, and then to a deep amber color. This process should take about 8-10 minutes.
As soon as the sugar reaches a deep amber color, reduce the heat to low and carefully add the room-temperature heavy cream. The mixture will bubble vigorously, so be cautious.
Stir the mixture with a heatproof spatula or wooden spoon until the caramel is smooth.
Add the butter, amaretto liqueur, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until everything is well incorporated and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
    3. Cool the Caramel:
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the caramel sauce cool for a few minutes. It will thicken as it cools.
    4. Serve:
Pour the warm amaretto caramel dipping sauce into a small bowl.
Arrange the apple slices on a serving platter around the caramel sauce.
To enjoy, dip the apple slices into the warm caramel sauce and then into the crushed peanuts.
    Tips:
Apple Variations: Feel free to use a mix of different apple varieties for a combination of sweet and tart flavors.
Nut Alternatives: Crushed almonds or hazelnuts can be used in place of peanuts for a different flavor profile.
Caramel Storage: Store any leftover caramel in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stove top before serving.
