Hazing is actually a felony in the state of Florida (s. 1006.63), so it's not just against IFC policy, it's against the law. It's very unlikely that you will be hazed as part of pledging, but if you are, it's obviously a situation that is taken very seriously.
Absolutely, and from our responses they make that very clear, which is very relieving!

Yeah I went to FSU in 2000 and although I didn't go Greek many of my good friends and not so friends did as well. Hazing definitely goes down but no one is gonna talk about it, until something happens like soneone dies , which last happened in 2017. I'm sure things are much more toned down since. I will say that there is a lot of social and professional networking that are two huge benefits of Greek life in and after college. @@Jsnake358
Y'all have not seen any kind of hazing until you've joined the military. Trust me. You should do a video about 18 year olds joining the military lol. But!!! You have to do the interview at one of the training colleges all around the country such as Sheppard air force base. It's basically a military tech school with 30k people. I had the absolute wildest time of my life there. Best time of my life there. The shenanigans were movie worthy.

Greek life adds another dimension to the college experience. You are now part of another brotherhood that compliments being an alumnus of the school. The social with the sororities will bring you relationships that will last a lifetime.
It is definitely essential, especially at a big school like FSU and the benefits I have seen from the people involved are tremendous!!

My son is in SAE at OK State.
I went to FSU. Some people can't handle frats and they go downhill. When I was there, two frats got thrown out for doing horrifying things to girls. Don't care for the Greek system. I had fun being my own person there.

every semester there is a "rush" process for frats and sororities at the beginning of the semester, where you go around and find your "match" of which group fits best with you, then you see if they feel the same way and BOOM! or if you are interested in a cultural frat or sorority they do things a bit differently where you just have to get to know them and with time they initiate you into their family as well. I hope this helped!
No literally those policies for hazing are in place bc it was so bad in the past, it’s why some feats had to shut down

I’ve been to 2 state schools in VA and have heard about and seen hazing first hand in pretty extreme ways one of the frats at my last college got thrown out for mutulating a goat I’ve heard about frats sitting groups of pledges down in front of liquor bottle and making them drink I’ve seen people get jumped heard about someone forced to do coke I saw pledges going for a run at 3 am frats and sororities have fake people and drug addicts I’ve meat some really cool frat guys that I really respect too and FL might be different just make sure to keep an eye on the people around you make your own decisions and don’t be afraid fight to protect yourself and you’ll be straight
