Abelo: You remind me of my old days in the US. I used to say pretry much the same thing. But after working as an engineer for some time and trying to go higher in the ladder, that's when I noticed other people's complaint is valid.
so my advice to you: Give it some time!!!
I am not trying to squash your excitement. Do continue to be excited with your achievements! You habe got all the reasons to be excited the way I see it here in this video. but it's too early to give that type of general comment.
Again I am just speaking from experience and history may not repeat itself and you may end up never experiencing it. But that doesnt mean that's the reality.

As a first-generation immigrant and international student, here's my advice: Aim for a 4.0 GPA in high school, excel on the SAT (register through College Board), and apply to Ivy League schools. Great podcast regarding students coming here with F1 visa. One thing I want to correct is that if students/ their family do not have the money to show that they’re capable of paying, they can show their sponsors bank statement (like uncles, aunts etc…) the embassy will NOT deny you because you’re showing your uncle’s bank statement.

Abel - you’re mostly right about the opportunity in America. You can achieve whatever you set your mind to in this country. You just need to show a desire for success and perform consistently. I don’t subscribe to the idea of whites are out to get black ppl. They’re not. Do you see discrimination here and there? Yes, you might experience prejudice and bias by some people but the system is not stacked against you. You can still succeed if you do what you’re supposed to do. It’s a merit based system and you will love it if you’ve the right attitude. You absolutely control your destiny here. Enjoy the land of opportunity!
