- Blackland Razors (www.blacklandr...) is a Bay Area based razor maker that was established in 2015. The company believes in blurring the line between art and function. The Blackbird is Blackland Razor’s flagship razor, whose design was inspired by the legendary SR-71 "Blackbird" aircraft. While the Blackbird is currently offered in both stainless and brass metals, on November 14, 2020 at 10AM PT, the Blackbird will also be offered in titanium. This Ti version will be offered first in machined finish, with a polished version to follow. The razor will cost USD $300.
The Ti version of the Blackbird is a safety bar version, made of Grade 5 titanium, the most commonly used titanium alloy. Grade 5 is known for its high strength at a light weight, useful formability and high corrosion resistance. If it is good enough to be used in aerospace industry applications, it’s good enough to use in a razor. Having the same geometry as the stainless Blackbird, with a 85mm handle and the assembly weighing 54g as opposed to the stainless which weighs in at 94g. The machined finish on the razor provides an industrial look, although the tolerances are tight and there is no flaw with blade seating or clamping function when tightened.
The Blackbird Ti, like other versions of the Blackbird is an aggressive, efficient shaver. The blade is exposed to a point where it offers a wonderful audible feedback and also enough blade feel to keep you focused on the task at hand. With the lighter weight titanium, I have found this razor to maneuver very well. I have had a lot of irritation free, comfortable shaves on both my face and my head with this variant of the Blackbird. The Blackbird Ti offers me the ability to complete a single pass dome shave, which I prefer. Because of the efficiency of the razor, I am able to shave against the grain in a single pass and achieve the comfort and skin smoothness that I desire from a dome shave.
The Blackland Blackbird Ti offers a wonderful variation on the already well established Blackbird offering. The geometry and craftsmanship remain stellar, but now in a lighter weight option. If you are a fan of the Blackbird, this razor should be right up your ally. If you are a fan of efficiency and aggressive shaves and are looking for something lighter than stainless steel, the Ti Blackbird deserves a look.

Hi Ruds- Great shave and razor preview; thank you! This sounds like a great offering from Blackland. I hope your week has been going well. Take good care and be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Ruds!
Thanks, you too!
I love the Blackbird razor, but in Ti? My goodness, that sounds beautiful!!!!
I really believe this is the best Blackbird to date.
Enjoyed you’re video review again Never have tried Blackbird Razors but now I’m I’m very interested. Thanks
Hope you enjoy it!
Excellent review Rud 😎👍💈
Glad you enjoyed it!
Blackbird was a high flying reconnaissance plane that was unarmed and was the fastest plane in service.
Wonderful information. Thanks for your support.
Great looking razor
I think so too!
Vaguely reminds me of a cool r41. Great review!
Thanks for your support.
very nice head shave 👌blackbird or rex ambassador ???(for head shave )
I wonder how suseptable titanium is to water spots.. Like it staining
I imagine, like almost any metal, it is at least slightly susceptible.
@@dendj55 my variant hasnet had any issues but idk how stain resistant ti is
Good to know!
What's your best razor for shaving your head? In your opinion
Without a doubt the Blackland Razors Vector.
Hi Ruds, thanks for the review. How would you compare how the Ti directly compares to the SS in the way it shaves besides maneuverability. Since the geometry is identical is the shave as well.
Yes, considering geometry is identical, the only variable that changes is the amount of inherent pressure the user will use because of the lighter weight. All aspects of the shave, efficiency, aggressiveness, blade feel, are exactly the same in my experience.
The top cap is similar to the Henson razor
Perhaps it looks that way, but it does not hold the blade the same as Henson. In terms of chronology, it is better to say, the Henson razor has a similar top cap to the Blackbird (which has been around for many years).
Also, do you still feel the vector is best dome shaver?
I absolutely do.
@@dendj55 thanx Ruds, ur the best, blessings to you and your own, stay safe.
Nice review 👌. It looks good
Thank you! Cheers!
Great dome shave and review, Ruds! I've been looking forward to your impressions of this razor. I was initially thinking I wouldn't be in the market for this one. I normally prefer SS or brass razors. I might have to break out my SS Blackbird for the next couple of days to help me decide. I'm not usually up for $300 razors, but.... You're making this a little more difficult decision with your review. Does the Ti Blackbird knock the Vector out of its slot for your dome shaves? Thanks!
Cheers! -Rob
Great question Rob! As much as I have enjoyed the Ti Blackbird, Vector remains king of the dome for me :-)
Mr. Rud, your preferred blade in the Blackbird?
I am blade agnostic... I use Gillette Platinum in all my DE razors.
@@dendj55 Thank you sir! Probably the only one I haven't tried as of yet. Keep on keeping on. Love all your vids, straight to the point and no bs.
Ruds, in ur opinion, which blackland razor is the most aggressive?
The BlackBird is the most aggressive.
Blackbird or timeless?
Blackbird.
Nice shave
Thank you for your continued support.

First video I see of u with a beard. why am I not surprised it's red 😂😂😂 now that's a really nice looking razor. I'd like to try the se u have (vector) it's just to much for me, ( yet I buy $200 shavettes ) 😂
If you are looking to try SE and a Vector is out of your budget, the closest shave for me has been the RazoRock HAWK v3. It's about 1/3 the cost.
@@dendj55 i have the oc v3 lol
Oh nice! I’ve not tried the OC version.
Im mainly looking for de razors i shave my arms so the smaller de is better i have plenty of shavettes and se razors.. just want a nice de.. i have the r41 variant wilk quad blade c37. I jusr want a over the top nice razor. But im not spending 150+ unless its really nice. Which i didnt check the price on the spaceship u just shaved with but it may be worth it lol just depends how far over ( most likely) 300 dollars it is lol
And without seeing it I was right.. 300... what a waste of money
Ruds - enjoy your videos! One request, please. It seems all of your videos are dome shaves. Like many, I am not a dome shaver and never will be. I would enjoy some of your videos that include face shaving.
Thanks for your support. I’m assuming you are fairly new to the channel? I have hundreds of reviews with face shaves posted. Right now I’m participating in No-Shave-November, so for the next 20 days or so it’ll be all dome shaves.
@@dendj55 Ah, gotcha! Im sorry, I didn’t realize your no shave November. Please excuse the request. Thank you!
All good and no apologies necessary. Just wanted to point out that there are lots of face shaves with all types of razors. Hope you enjoy.
Youre breathing heavy ??…ruds
