Great share, good to hear you banter with and around the proofs of God. It is like you are prodding the models as to where your explanations hold water and where they don't. As a college instructor, I was always aware of the incompleteness of teaching what something is and no time allocated to discuss what something isn't. That is a big gap we leave students with when they enter the job market - they are shocked to see how much more there is to any subject and how many things they encounter that don't fit their incomplete expectations about how things are. I.e. Once out in the field, they fail using all their expensive knowledge. The true training begins. A master like Michelangelo knows that a carving a statue of a horse is really a process of taking away everything that is not a horse. But a student starts by seeing the horse without the origins and processes that gave us the horse.

Thank you Fathers for creating this content. You all do a wonderful job of taking a difficult subject and condensing it and presenting it in a digestible way. Your channel aptly named.

LOVE how intelligent you both are --- knowing and explaining the things of God. ( Have a feeling there must be an IQ requirement for Dominicans!) Totally enjoy your humor, theological knowledge, and vast vocabulary, Fr. Gregory. And Fr. Patrick on top of your vast theological knowledge --- I have to say --- you have an angelic countenance. ( Must be the St. Thomas in you!)

I have a hand written list.
    Does God exist.
    1) Motion Unmoved moves.
    2) Generated to corruption
    3) Effective cause. To be or not to be of a thing.
    4) Gradation caused by God
5)Governance of world. Contained fixed rules of action of God.

Regarding the argument of motion, where should one 'situate' the uncaused cause? I can see how one could situate it as temporally 'preceding' the whole chain of causes/motion. Using the modern idea, this would be like the first motion 'before' the Big Bang, though physicists will tell you that this 'before' makes no sense, since time and space as we know it begin 'then'. (Language appears to fall apart, for it is based on standard time-conceptions, chains and series etc.) Or one could led to situate the uncaused cause as temporally 'all the time', as subtending 'time' with His real eternity at "every moment' - the timeless continuously breaking into or at least sustaining the temporal. How can we think the 'real simultaneity' of movement in time and the Unmoved Mover? Is God bringing the universe into existence ('causing' it) in every instant (occasionalism)? Or is there maybe no need for an 'again' in God - each instant is the one-time-unique outflowing of creation from God? In other words, when is the 'In the beginning' _really?_ How could the beginning in God ever 'end'? Perhaps our natural division of time into instants, 'now's and 'then's, occludes the actual wholeness of God's eternal time. Is revelation the free and gracious binding of the time-unbound to time? The unfolding of a wholeness always true, if only we could somehow see through the veil of motion/causality? Excuse the public rumination on what amount to eschatological questions - what is the true content of 'in the _fullness_ of time'?
