Author DEFENDS Stealing Everyone’s Stuff...Except the Author’s Stuff

  • One way to show an idea is a bad one is to see if it self-destructs. Some ideas sound good in theory but don’t work in practice.
In this video, we show that Vicky Osterweil’s book self-destructs in three ways. One, it argues against other people’s property rights while using copyright law to protect the author’s property rights. Two, it rejects property rights because they support racism while appealing to intellectual property rights, thus promoting racism. Three, it condemns capitalism-“We would be able to live without a wage if we freely shared the products of society [16]”-but then affirms capitalism in practice since the book is not “freely shared with society” but rather sells for a tidy little profit at the easy-to-find capitalist mega-monster….Amazon!
Over and over, Osterweil undermines the Marxist case by doing the very things the book says shouldn’t be done. In other words, Osterweil’s actions contradict her convictions.

I once worked in a specialty retail store where a guy was insisting on a discount. He said, "I took a class and my professor said to never pay full price on anything".
My co-worker said (without missing a beat), "How much did you pay for the class? Did you get a refund?"

Here is a real story when the communists once came to power. It happened in Russia after 1917, after an illegal coup and a bloody civil war. The communist slogan was "factories to the workers, land to the peasants". But when they came to power, they simply confiscated private property, including from the workers and the peasants. And those who were against, they simply sent to working camps. Sometimes even after someone else's false accusation. As a result, it damaged seriously the food system in the country and caused a mass famine in the 1930s, which touched about 60% of population of the USSR, some of whom, several million people, died. Thought before the revolution, Russia had about 40% of world grain export. Even though years after the communist government achieved some success in industry and technology ect, like spaceflight (also the Ussr played probably the most important role in fighting fascism in the WWII). But that success didn't last long and it ended with an economic crisis and fall of the Ussr. Also the same success could be done in Russia without any revolution or "building communism", just like it was done let's say in the US. If not communists, Russia would be most likely the second largest economy in the world. But it's only somewhere 8-10th place now. Thought before the revolution Russian economic was one of the most fast-growing in the world. The revolution 1917 ruined it and the communists in power was the biggest tragedy that happened with Russia the last centuries. Hope people in other countries will not repeat those mistakes.

The fact that Christianity grafted itself onto earlier pagan worship was part of the design of the church fathers. Pagan elements were incorporated into the Christian faith on the advice of Pope Gregory the Great, who told Saint Augustine of Canterbury that rather than tear down the pagan temples in Britain, he should instead add existing pagan rituals into the mix of Christian practices, thus providing an easy transition to the new religion.Christians stole Chriastmas, Easter and Halloween from the Pagans, Catholics can add Fasting, (Lent) to the list. Unfortunately, some of the most basic things believed by most professing Christians derive from ancient paganism rather than from the Bible. The idea that people have immortal souls was first taught in ancient Egypt and Babylon. The Greeks likewise taught that at death the soul would separate from the physical body (Jewish Encyclopedia, 1941, Vol. 6, pp. 564, 566, "Immortality of the Soul"). That idea was merged into Christianity from Greek philosophy. It did not come from inspired Scripture. The ancient Egyptians developed the concept of going to heaven. In their mythology, the god Osiris was killed but then raised back to life, whereupon he went to a distant heavenly realm. The Egyptians concluded that if he could do this, then human beings could follow (Lewis Browne, This Believing World, pp. 83-84). This heavenly reward was a central teaching of several ancient mystery religions-but not the religion of the Hebrews or early Christians. TALK ABOUT THEFT! CHRISTIANITY TAKES THE CAKE!!!

    1. Looting brings down businesses.
    2. Destroyed businesses don't produce new stuff.
    3. Shortages of stuff ensue.
    4. Less business, less jobs.
    5. Everyone becomes poor.
    6. Community property not enough to go around.
    7. People dependent on government assistance.
    8. Not enough taxpayers to support government.
    9. Society fails.
Or how about we stick with private property, capitalism, rewarding hard work, freedom and opportunity? Maybe expose and discourage wasteful spending and corruption? Maybe encourage the wealthy and profitable companies to find new ways to help the poor and homeless? Expecting a corrupt government system to do it isn't the answer. Private companies and wealthy people should see their successes as a way to help others. There can be a redistribution of wealth, but it shouldn't come from the government, or by allowing the poor to steal without consequence...it should come from the generosity of those in a position to do something about it.
The American dream shouldn't have the end goal of a $40 million mansion, 6 summer homes, 4 yachts, a private island, a custom RV, 17 cars and a leer jet. Nice house? Sure, how about $4 million? Summer homes? How about one and make any others B&Bs that can generate profits for fighting homelessness? And on down the line, reevaluate. Is it excess for excess's sake? Or is it a necessity for some reason? I think about what I would do if I won $150 million in the lottery. I'd live on about 5% and use the other 95% to help others, individuals, ministries, charities, etc., balancing some outright payments and investments that generate perpetual income to give to those causes. The selfishness our society promotes needs to change. Change that and you change the world.

Step one, read up or study logic and philosophy. I would recommend a few books:
      1. _Logic_ by Wesley Salmon
      2. _A Textbook of Logic_ by Alexander Wolf
      3. _Lessons of History_ by Will and Ariel Durant
      4. _What is the Name of This Book?_ by Raymond Smullyan
      5. _Mere Christianity_ by C.S. Lewis
      6. _Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman_ by Richard Feynman (Caution: Feynman is not always a good moral example)
      7. _Surprised by Joy; The Shape of My Early Life_ by C.S. Lewis
      8. _Tactics_ by Gregory Koukl
      9. _Apologia_ by Plato (a Socratic Dialog)
So, those would give you a start in the art. A couple of philosophy courses would also help, and field work arguing with atheists in youtube comments makes for good practical application.

The idea of property common to all is great in theory but impossible in practice. It simply fails to take into account people’s natural greed.

The thing is that Marxists come in two categories: Useful Idiots, and Barbarians. Useful Idiots get whisked up in utopian dreams of everyone sharing and destroying evil oppressors, while the Barbarians lead them on with broken logic and ideology. The author of this book is a Barbarian, and she wrote it so more useful idiots would take to the streets. Thanks for the video, it’s always funny to see this stuff completely fall apart, and I love your style!

As Bahnsen loved to point out: look for inconsistency and incoherency and you've found fallacy.
As a side note, does looting/stealing ever become a "wrong"? For instance, in someone "justifiably" steals something how many times can that same thing subsequently be stolen before it becomes unjustifiable? There's almost always someone worse off, someone who is a greater "victim." Is the ideal world the one in which all property is moved from the hands of literally the richest people into the hands of literally the poorest? 🤦🏻 The logic is absurd. And what happens when the property eventually falls far enough down the line to someone who is unable to extract value from the property due to ignorance, mismanagement, or even property destruction? Again, absurd and defeating in so many ways.

I think it’s also interesting to say lotting is distributing wealth to the poor but they seem to miss the fact that small businesses are not necessarily wealthy, they just have enough money to own the store and they could very well not be well off. By looting small businesses they are taking from the not wealthy to give to the not wealthy. Lmk in the replies if I’m saying something wrong or weirdly pls!

I'm getting ready this week to help a buddy in the DR Congo buy some land for a school he'll be building. Both buyer and seller are black. (and I'm not white).
I just have one question: who are the white supremacists here, and how did they got involved in this land ownership deal!?
    ..asking for a buddy.
