"Doesn't that dog look familiar?" "Nope. I have never seen that dog before in my life." That last line was probably the best last line in any movie I've ever watched. It shows that Bolt and Penny finally have the life they want. A life where they can enjoy themselves and be happy. Where they aren't celebrities or actors. Just some random girl and her dog.
It’s a great callback as well. That pigeon repeatedly says that the dog looks familiar throughout the film, but it’s a different dog now, one that no longer looks familiar.
So true. My mum will be 60 next year, I will be 17. I must have watched this movie over and over in like… Year 3, I’d say. I was 8. Mum was 51. I’m like 90% sure that like every time I rewatched this movie when I was 8, she cried at that scene. My God I love this movie.
The whole fire rescue scene usually moves me to tears but equally so does the part where Mittens snaps and you learn about her tragic past where she was declawed and abandoned by her family.
Dang I knew she was abandoned by her family but declawed? I know she kept saying she has claws you don’t want me to use them but man that’s rough for mittens I’m so glad she got a home along with bolt and rhino
I'm sorry but Bolt laying down with Penny because he doesn't want to leave her always will get me I don't care how old I am. And the fact that he refuses to leave her side even if it means dying and even in his way of saving her with his barking he still doesn't leave her side makes me so emotional, he truly loves her.
@@tokimeki_neomap you see if I was to be a kitty owner it would break my heart to be separated from my cat even if it’s just to be with the rest of my family or go to a grocery store for a little while because I’d feel like my fur baby is missing out on seeing the rest of the world even if it’s only within the US and also my kitty baby would mean everything to me it’s such a shame most places aren’t cool with people taking their dogs or cats with them but at least if I was a cat owner I could take him or her to a big park to walk and play around in
damn when you said 'this is just a girl and her dog dying in a fire' had me tear up. That was an unexpectedly powerful mental image. Like, I knew that was what was going on but the way you said it really stressed that point of how possible that kind of tragedy really is. Real people don't die in cola and mentos vulcanos. Real people die in random unfortunate (house) fires or from smoke inhalation. Real people can die in a tragic accident at their completely regular should-be-safe- job. It is more 'real' and therefore more relatable.
I haven't rewatched Bolt in years but I'm suddenly remembering how "That's a strange place to put a piano" was one of my favorite lines as a kid simply because it somehow managed to actually be a convincing distraction despite making absolutely no sense.
If bolt has 1000 fans, I am one of them If bolt has 100 fans, I am one of them If bolt has 10 fans, I am one of them If bolt has 1 fan, I am that one fan If bolt has no fans, I am dead Edit: For the longest time I had no clue it was penny that stopped the printer from printing the missing posters, I always thought it was her mom. Nice vid
Bolt is such an awesome movie. I remember having a huge crush on Penny when was younger and told the guys at school I had a girlfriend from America named Penny😅
As a kid, I loved this movie so much that when I got my first dog after years of begging, I named him Bolt. 14 years later I recently had to let Bolt go to the other side and there isn't a day I wouldn't do anything to bring him back. He looked just like him too. Sure this movie was a kids' movie, and its themes are lackluster to someone who is constantly watching film, who grow with time, but this movie becomes so personal for people. What it stands for is beautiful, and I'll always fight for the recognition this movie deserves!
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge, together….
Bolt is not only one of Disney’s most underrated gems, but it was even the directorial debut of Byron Howard, who would later bring us more gems with Tangled, Zootopia, and Encanto!
As someone who watched and loved Bolt as a kid, this video feels so satisfying. I was so happy to see one of my favorite movies getting defended after the review
Google must’ve been monitoring my brain when Schafrillas said it was bad because it recommended an oddly specific video I agree with from someone I’ve never seen. Maybe I should add to the pile and review your review of his review.
This is one of those Disney movies that could actually work as a show taking place after. We can get to see Bolt continuing to learn how to be a dog while Penny goes to school. Maybe she struggles with other kids constantly saying "Hey! You're that girl from the super dog show!" because of her bad experiences with the studio. Maybe Bolt and Rhino can have dream sequences of the show.
@@DaveInSnitchel Although her “character arc” (for lack of a better term) seemed pretty complete by the movie’s end, she could still be a mentor figure to Bolt and teach him new things about being a dog/life in general.
I don't know if this detail was missed or just not mentioned, but the fact that the whole conflict of the film started with Penny being unable to take a normal picture of Bolt happy and playing or one of them together without him looking for danger makes the final shot even better. She gets that photo, not only of him smiling with his favorite toy, but with her in it along with other pets and friends for the both of them, one being a cat, an animal Bolt used to hate so much.
Bolt was so impactful to me as a kid, because it was the first time I had heard of cats being de-clawed and that sometimes people will do such a harsh thing and then just… leave. I couldn’t imagine doing something so devastating and then on top of that, ABANDONING them! Other than that, I thought the idea of raising an actor dog to think that the super powers he was written to have was real was an interesting concept. And Bolt learning how to be a normal dog was awesome and adorable My younger sister and I just watched this movie recently and I just about cried when I finally realized that the song “I Thought I Lost You” was Bolt and Penny singing to each other!
I’ll admit that my fondness of Bolt is in large part due to nostalgia, but I really liked the message that although Mittens was right about the reality of the world, there was the affirmation that Bolt and Penny’s bond was real. And yes, Barking at the Moon and I Thought I Lost you are bangers.
One thing I always loved was how "real" it felt. They notably use real vehicles, places, objects, everything. You see realisitc models. Although animals cannot talk and the people are somewhat cartoony, everything else feels real. Notably, the train scene knocks it out of the park. Usually when you see trains in movies, they are out of era, unrealistic, operating in the wrong territory, and loosely based on some prototype. In Bolt, however, you see a freight train pulled by CSX SD70Ms in the YN2 paint scheme, pulling TTX well cars, PS-4 hoppers, and UTLX tank cars, all real railroad equipment. This is a real train, and this part of the movie takes place in Ohio. What is one of the major railroads in Ohio? *CSX.* This makes the movie feel so much more real, and the fact that they added this shows they cared. If you grew up in Ohio in the 2000s, or even now, you will recognize the train as being a CSX train. Amazing scene. Thanks Bolt!
Surprisingly enough, Bolt was also the first movie I remember feeling genuine emotional distress for the characters. The music that plays when Bolt and Penny finally find each other HAD ME CRYING. This is the most validating video ever after hearing Schaff's take. This movie is absolutely so real to me. Barking at the Moon?! Artistry in it's purest form.
mate i cant say anything better then you have both of them have always made me cry ( one more then the other lol ) and both and imo some of the best animated movies out there!
Oh my god, I can't watch spirit without immediately tearing up, genuinely one of my favourite movies and it has so many good lessons about horsemanship. I hate the awful Netflix show though
Bolt is a beautiful, heartfelt movie. Anyone who loves dogs would be hard-pressed not to cry and feel anguish as Bolt never gives up on his person, never looses his faith and is once again reunited with her and Penny never wanted to give up on Bolt. This movie made me cry when I first saw in 2005. Even moreso after I lost my own dog.
This movie came out when I was 8 and I wanted to see it so bad. Finally got around to watching it when I was 9 and for almost 2 full years it was my personality. I quoted Bolt verbatim non-stop. At recess, I would quote Bolt with my friends and we would act like the characters. I bought the Bolt video game on DS and decorated my DS with Bolt stickers. I ate, slept, breathed, sweated Bolt. I've never had such an obsession and hyper-fixation with a singular piece of media like I did Bolt. I still think it's one of Disney's best, honestly. It's so much more than it appears and it is a Pixar-level tear-jerker. And it's actually hilarious. The dialogue is witty and Mittens and Bolt's dynamic is incredible and absolutely carries the movie. I just love it. I don't know why it resonated with me so much, but it's one of my all-time favorite movies.
Hey same, I never bought merch and I barely remember this I was so young (5) but I used to watch bolt over and over, begging others to watch with me as my family reminds me. I've done plenty of rewatches over the years since then but this video brought back some of the feelings from my early life. Like believing the starting action sequence like Bolt did, and that Penny was going to die..
when it came out (and many yrs after) there was an entire community of Bolt-obsessed kids/adults! it was definitely a mini phenomenon but these days it's so underrated & forgotten
The moment of Penny and Bolt seeing and running towards each other again with that score?? Always gives me chills - what a gorgeous sequence. And that *specific* leitmotif??
One of the reasons this movie is such a great kids movie as well is because of Bolt going missing. For any kid who’s lost a pet, the feeling of watching this movie and imagining your own pet going on an adventure to get back to you; making friends along the way and experiencing the world is such a hopeful feeling. And of course with the climax, Penny and Bolt finding each other, making eye contact. That through the smoke and the tears and the blurry vision they could instantly recognize each other; incredible.
I’m really glad someone made a video about Bolt because I absolutely love it, and yes, it’s partially nostalgia talking, but I do genuinely believe it’s great.
I've always loved Bolt for turning the superhero/action genres on their heads, while still incorporating acts of heroism and a "super bark" at the end. but it's also the down to earth tone, and realistic yet emotional moments that makes it one of Disney's best. I don't think any other Disney movie compares aside from maybe Encanto and Zootopia. but even they don't have as many moments of brilliance besides the third acts imo.
I remember watching Bolt as a child, an even watching the end credits. Something I've noticed tho, weird coincidence to have a black and white cat, female, with no claws due to awful pet owners, and having a traumatic backstory that made them like that... I think Mittens and Kitty Soft Paws would be best friends ^^
Great to see appreciation for Bolt. The fact the ending scene is so real, dare I even say mundane, is kind of the point. It's a burning building as opposed to green eyed man sci-fi shenanigans, but even though none of that stuff was real, Bolt is a hero. His bravery and loyalty to Penny and their love for each other was always real. And having him save her with a real life superbark is just the perfect conclusion to his character arc, it makes me tear up every time. Also yes, the music is brilliant
I LOVE BOLT AND HAVE ALWAYS DONE IT!! I remember when I was a kid and watched this every day. Only now one week ago when I watched it again I understood what actually happened xD
The score in this movie was composed by THE John Powell! The same composer who did the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy, worked on several other DreamWorks films including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and The Road To El Dorado, and composed most of the soundtracks for Blue Sky studios. John Powell is a freaking legend and this score definitely shows that! Also, you didn't even talk about what is arguably my favorite scene in this movie: when Bolt breaks out of the animal control truck and gets super excited when he thinks his powers actually worked, only to find out that Rhino unlocked the door and Bolt finally realizes that Mittens was right - leading him to lose confidence in himself until Rhino gives him a pep talk. Brillaint emotional scene right there.
he did the soundtracks for rio, ice age, robots, the lorax, and happy feet !!!! his record is unbeatable and i’ll die on this hill idc he’s never made a bad soundtrack !!!!
Bolt will always be one of my alltime favorites, especially the score by John Powel. A small detail I notice not many people mention if any, is that the photo at the end holds even MORE significance. When Penny was filming the show, she'd take a picture with Bolt at the end of every adventure. To me, that final photo is solidifying the end to the adventure they had throughout the whole movie reuniting and changing their lives for the better, and now that the adventure is done, they can relax in their lives together.
The fire scene will NEVER fail to make me shed a tear. The way the superbark comes back in a way that saves bolt and Penny's life calling back to the beginning and moments throughout the movie just makes it a perfect scene for me.
Bolt is a beautiful film, there's so many memories attached to it for me. Me, my sister and my oldest best friend seen it so many times that we reacted it in real life. My sister as Rhino, my bestie as Bolt, me as Penny and Mittens. OMG this film is purely amazing. Such a underrated classic 3D Disney film. Roleplaying Bolt in real life, watching the movie countless times, even owning a plushie Bolt.
I've always liked Bolt. I don't care about much opinions, including what Schaffrillas said. But man, you really made me understand why I liked it so much back then. Not only the music, nor the animation. The story was great to watch, a very nostalgic movie.
Dude, Bolt was my childhood growing up! I _lived_ for this movie! Watching it now, the ending _still_ gets me to tear up cause they're bond is so incredible and I always wanted that connection with my pet!
Holy shit I did not expect to come that close to crying when you got to the climax. This movie has always struck an emotional chord with me ever since I saw it at a young age and this video felt like a gut punching reminder of why. There's also the Dog Fight deleted scene which had Bolt discover that his Fantasy wasn't real in a......extremely upsetting and devastating way and I think it's a shame that it never got into the movie cause it's hands down the most emotional a Disney scene has made me.
Man, you know a scene is good when even just watching the clip of Bolt laying down to die with Penny and then mustering one last super bark makes me tear up 🥲
The pigeons in the latin spanish version (which is the one I saw as a child) have a really stressed Argentine accent, which makes them sound really goofy and out of place compared to the more "neutral" spanish the other characters have. Even as a child and living in Argentina my hole life I always exploded laughing when hearing them cause they are so off-tone to the rest of the voices. I really recommend watching that clip in latin spanish, it's pure gold
OMG i remembered that i've always loved the scenes with the pigeons but i forgot why and now this makes sense😭😭 as an uruguayan child, since we have similar accents, it was so fun to see, definitely one of the best parts of the movie in the latin spanish ver
bolt always, without fail, tugs on my heart. every time i watch it, no matter what, i am either in tears or on the verge of tears the entire third act. it's just such a good story.
This is genuinely one of my favourite movies ever. I never not cry at it and the characterisation of Bolt and Mittens is a masterpiece. Not to mention found family will never not be enjoyable because it works so well.
Finally someone defending this masterpiece It's not perfect but it is pretty great Also, as an Brazilian, I feel the need to say that I do prefer Brazilian portuguese dub, specially for Rhino, because in Portuguese he has a perfect balance in his voice acting that doesn't make him annoying
This movie is one of the few movies that made me cry twice. The "Barking at the Moon" montage made me cry tears of joy. And Penny and Bolt have such a wholesome dynamic.
I finally rewatched Bolt and I knew I would cry at the last super bark scene but I didn’t think I’d cry throughout the second half of the movie, this is legitimately one of the best kids movies I have EVER seen It’s so well written and I will continue to cry every time
This movie holds a special place in my heart because it’s one of the few (the only) ones that my uncle has worked on that he’s in the initial credits, not just the scroll
Bolt is a movie like Flushed Away or Rango that I wish was acknowledged more Bolt is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time for a lot of reasons 1. I'm a huge fan of action and they got lot's of it! 2. I'm a dog/cat person. 3. It made me want to get a pet of my own! 4. It was emotionally mature! 5. Still a fantastic film to this day 10/10 (Best Disney Pictures movie next to Wreck It Ralph)
This movie holds a special place for me in my heart. Not only because I’m a dog person, but because when my sister and I were younger, when she had cancer, I would sit off to the side, pull up this movie on the little screens they had, and just watch it over and over again. Even though I couldn’t really comprehend what was going on at the time, I found comfort in it for some reason, and it just forever stuck with me (If you’re wondering, yes my sister is cancer free. 12 years running)
I remember when I was a kid I was so mad that bolt wasn’t actually a super dog and instead of watching the movie more I played the Wii game over and over again. But now I really do appreciate the movie
I didn't understand this movie when I was young. I was a dumb kid and didn't get that Bolt was in a TV show so I was just confused watching it. But when I got older and understood the storyline, this film hit me like a punch in the gut. I vividly remember watching this on my 14th birthday after years of not even thinking about it and just crying my heart out.
THE ENDING RAP IS HILARIOUS, HAHA!!! That was made well more than it had to! Thank you so much for defending Bolt. It's such an adorable, emotional, and comfort Disney movie to me and it makes me happy people still enjoy this film as much as I do if not more. 💜
12:58 - 13:36 I think that's what made the climax stick with me so much too. After all the movie's over-the-top show action, there's nothing fantastically grandiose as the climax. At the epitome of Bolt discovering the real world, he lands himself in very real, tragic peril with his human, and just... laying down next to her when he realizes she might not make it out, even though it would likely mean dying alongside her, and trying with what little he has to get her saved, and ending up actually being her hero and saving her life in the real and true... oughhhh my heart
The reason I love this movie is the feel of it. It's so down to earth yet grand at the same time, and the atmosphere in the scenes where bolt & the gang are traveling cross country is EXCELLENT. Not to mention, the fire scene is probably one of my all-time favorite movie moments.
I'm glad more people are coming around to this movie after all these years. I remember loving it when it came out back in 2008, and like you, I think it still holds up as well. You also raise a good point about how Bolt's emotional climax feels a lot more real than most other animated movies. The only other time a film's climax hit that hard for me was with Zootopia, and even then, like you mentioned, it still required a twist villain with a big government conspiracy to make all of the moving parts come together, whereas with Bolt, it's just a girl and her dog trying to survive. Plus, it's the firefighters who ultimately rescue them, not themselves, which gives the characters involved a level of vulnerability I don't see very often, especially in stuff aimed at kids.
bolt is one of those movies that was so magical to me as a kid. the animation, the world, the music the delivery of their lines was so convincing for me. it’ll always have a special place in my heart. idk how anyone thinks this movie is lame
This video makes me so happy. I was also pretty crushed by Schaf’s take on Bolt. I also have a same yet differing view on Rhino. Granted, he can for sure be annoying, but at the same time I like the dynamic between the three animals. Rhino and Bolt agreeing on his “obvious” past and Mittens being done 24/7 was always funny/interesting to me. Though I TOTALLY get him being annoying. Sometimes I just roll my eyes at him haha. This is my favorite movie. Has been for a long time.
I've got a small Bolt plush that I remember taking with me everywhere as a kid, in fact he's still on my shelf to this day. When I was in the children's hospital for a dental procedure when I was 7 or so I HAD to have my Bolt plush with me. Also that little musical bit at the end of house on wheels?? One of those tunes that will immediately make me emotional and nostalgic just from hearing a few notes. I love it, it lived in my head rent free for YEARS.
This movie was my all-time favourite when I was a child. I absolutely loved Mittens, I still have the plush toy of her that my parents bought me, I took it almost everywhere with me
No line in this movie is wasted. Every single detail serves to a purpose later on! This is so well written. Too bad it’s underrated for so many good folks around
This movie is definitely underrated, it's a shame a lot of younger kids probably won't get to see it, but it surprisingly has somewhat of a community? I've seen artists on Instagram dedicated to Bolt, it just goes to show that the movie definitely holds a special place in a lot of people's hearts
Bolt is literally my favorite movie and I seriously can’t believe how anyone can even hate it! The scripting was amazing, it’s an emotional rollercoaster and the characters are well written. Even if John Travolta’s acting flopped, he was good voicing as Bolt and the other voice actors did amazing as well! The song writings are also good and emotional, Barking At The Moon is honestly a masterpiece of a song. Little me as a kid have always wanted a dog because of Bolt but I was never able to have a dog and when I finally was able to own a dog, he gets taken to the animal control and never saw him again. Mittens’ backstory is also pretty sad because of how cruel people are with their animals, the fact that people would declaw cats or debark dogs makes me so mad and upset. I’m sorry if this was too much but there’s just so many things why this movie is a favorite of mine and makes me wish Disney can make more movies like this, but hope anyone that reads this has a good day/night. ❤
Recently watched this again after loving it and watching it repeatedly as a kid, and I SOBBED at the entire fire scene. Literally the second Bolt slid under the door to get Penny until the end of the movie, I was bawling. Why does it hit so hard?
That point you made about the climax of this movie being gutwrenchingly real in comparison to the beginning of the movie with all the scifi and fantasy was such a great point omg i never realized that
When I was younger, I thought Bolt actually had powers, and that throughout the movie, he slowly lost them. Like, the rain was his weakness and that's why his lightning bolt mark was disappearing.
Even after all this time, the music in the climax still causes me to feel so much for Bolt and Penny. I don’t see why there’s any complaint about Bolt’s voice actor either, I mean he has that perfect mixture of brave-hearted hero and innocent lost puppy. The only complaints I have about this movie are the littlest nitpicks. Bolt has some of the most heart and feeling between both Disney AND Pixar
The Super Bark was my favorite of the "abilities" Bolt had in the show, and him using it at the end in a last ditch effort to save Penny made me cheer like Rhino and cry my eyes out. Bolt is a Very Good Boy (and this is a very good video).
I think what I love about it the most is how real the movie is. There's a certain level of elevated sentience they gave the animals, but it's a story that takes place in what feels like real life. They could've even made it live action for the most part like Babe. Most people probably feel it makes it forgettable but I feel it's what makes it stand out
That swelling music that plays when Penny and Bolt reunite in the fire has lived rent free in my brain ever since I was 10. I utterly adore the simplicity of this film.
I remember how emotional this movie was. Like, heck, I teared up by just hearing you talk about the climax, that's how actually memorable and strong the film is
thank you for doing this, i was so furious that no one really talks about this movie nowadays, i didnt even watch it as a kid (even though i wanted to), but i just did and i thought it was awesome. just a tense, wholesome and fun adventure. good job man, really
Bolt will always hold a special place in my heart. Every time I watch the reunion with Penny and Bolt I cry, it’s still so impactful to me; and it made me so happy when mittens got a home and a beautiful family. I think the movie it’s pretty amazing for what it is, and It deserves love
Tropes exist for a reason: they are story-telling tools. Some are overused, but then there are also inverted tropes. What we have on the surface of Bolt is The Hero's Journey. Like, literally. However, even though he returns to the exact same world and people as he left, Bolt's adventure gives him a new perspective on everything. Then, in Penny's moment of need, the only way for Bolt to save her was to combine the fake skills with real knowledge, but that's not even the best part of it. That climax takes place in the real world. Fires are real, and children dying in them is also very real. This is the best part because it's so believable, it could've actually happened. And that's the part that makes me cry.
Though this movie might not be as action-packed or fast-paced as other movies, this movie is so charming and immersive, and really hits home the message it's trying to portray. It knows how to speed things up, and when to slow it down, and it makes you feel like the ending with everyone finally together was earned.
this is the first time I've ever heard someone else explain how much they love bolt, and im so glad that I've found someone who loves it just as much as I do
Oooh i still listen to barking at the moon and i thought i lost you all the time!! Love this movie, it's been one of my favorite ones for years. The scenes where bolt thinks he's been replaced and where he saves penny still make me cry like a little baby. Back in 2017 i bought a digital copy movie on accident (thought i was renting it lol) and i just kinda shrugged and kept it
I've watched this movie so so SO many times over the years, it always makes me cry no matter where I am or who I'm with. The scene that makes me cry the most is when Bolt finally finds Penny again and runs to her and he thinks that she sees him and is telling him to come to her but instead another dog goes to her and Bolt slowly stops as he "realizes" he's been replaced 😭😭 Makes me sob everytime

"Doesn't that dog look familiar?"
"Nope. I have never seen that dog before in my life."
That last line was probably the best last line in any movie I've ever watched. It shows that Bolt and Penny finally have the life they want. A life where they can enjoy themselves and be happy. Where they aren't celebrities or actors. Just some random girl and her dog.
It’s a great callback as well. That pigeon repeatedly says that the dog looks familiar throughout the film, but it’s a different dog now, one that no longer looks familiar.
this.
The climax of the movie where Bolt has to save Penny is fucking beautiful and it makes me cry every god damn time
I really wish John Travolta spoke more, too like maybe Bolt could’ve been coughing from smoke inhalation or he could’ve screamed Penny’s name.
I didn't know that scene would still make me cry it has been year's since I watched bolt and here I was crying for this characters.

Honestly, so many 2000's Disney movies are heavily overlooked. People love to pick on the bad ones, but they forget the genuine triumphs.

I too was heart broken by schaff’s ranking of bolt. I never thought it was an amazing film but it always had a soft place in my heart.

Same! It was actually my favorite movie for a long time as a kid
Yeah, it’s not quite amazing. It has its flaws, but I still love it.
Schaff has a lot of L takes imo so i wasn't surprised or necessarily disappointed in him specifically

I haven't rewatched Bolt in years but I'm suddenly remembering how "That's a strange place to put a piano" was one of my favorite lines as a kid simply because it somehow managed to actually be a convincing distraction despite making absolutely no sense.

Bolt was a massive piece of my childhood and I can't ever forget it. This video truly is the closest thing to ever doing it justice. Thank you.
Bolt is such an awesome movie. I remember having a huge crush on Penny when was younger and told the guys at school I had a girlfriend from America named Penny😅
Bolt is probably the movie that saved Disney as it was the first of many succesfull 3d movies from Disney. after many box office bombs in that area.
It's such a milestone in Disney's cinematic history for that very reason, so it's surprising to see it ignored despite it.
It is indeed actually. It is the first movie in Disney's Revival Era, the reason we have today's Disney films.
Actually, Chicken Little saved Disney.
That's right, not Bolt.
Not Meet The Robinsons.

You're the master of "movies everyone has watched but nobody cares" thank you from bringing those underrated masterpieces to light
much obliged
much obliged? am I insane and this is actually correct or did you really mean muito obrigado?
As a kid, I loved this movie so much that when I got my first dog after years of begging, I named him Bolt. 14 years later I recently had to let Bolt go to the other side and there isn't a day I wouldn't do anything to bring him back. He looked just like him too.
Sure this movie was a kids' movie, and its themes are lackluster to someone who is constantly watching film, who grow with time, but this movie becomes so personal for people. What it stands for is beautiful, and I'll always fight for the recognition this movie deserves!
That is amazing! Im so sorry about your pup, I bet he lived a long n happy life 🥲
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
Wow I didn't know that!! Thanks that's so cool :D
makes SO much sense
I wasn't a fan of Encanto but I love most of Byron Howard's movies, including Tangled and Zootopia
Woah. That’s a nice start.

Right! Legit one of the only movies where I can distinctly remember all that happens. it was so important to my childhood

What about mittens?
@@DaveInSnitchel Although her “character arc” (for lack of a better term) seemed pretty complete by the movie’s end, she could still be a mentor figure to Bolt and teach him new things about being a dog/life in general.

Jk this review made me cry too. Gawd
@@VSpoodle same. I legit cried at that scene in the review.
I like how Schaff is promoting these videos, since his opinion isn’t the only one that matters, this community is great!
It's a very mature attitude of him, and also great to promote smaller channels :D
@@moonoftheblood exactly!
*CSX.*
This makes the movie feel so much more real, and the fact that they added this shows they cared. If you grew up in Ohio in the 2000s, or even now, you will recognize the train as being a CSX train.
Amazing scene.
Thanks Bolt!
You aint the only one that pointed that out.
Barking at the Moon still makes me cry whenever I hear it.
same.
There is no home like the one you've got, cause that home belongs to you!
Okay. Bolt is NOT forgettable!! That was my favorite movie as a kid next to Spirit and I will always cry while watching it 😭

@@bigbigrat tbh I kinda liked the Netflix show.
@@inumaru4583 I think that if it was its own stand-alone kids show it would be fine, but it completely defeats the purpose of the original film
Bolt is a beautiful, heartfelt movie.
Anyone who loves dogs would be hard-pressed not to cry and feel anguish
as Bolt never gives up on his person, never looses his faith and is once again
reunited with her and Penny never wanted to give up on Bolt.
This movie made me cry when I first saw in 2005. Even moreso after
I lost my own dog.
2005? It came out in 2008…
This movie came out when I was 8 and I wanted to see it so bad.
Like believing the starting action sequence like Bolt did, and that Penny was going to die..
when it came out (and many yrs after) there was an entire community of Bolt-obsessed kids/adults!
it was definitely a mini phenomenon but these days it's so underrated & forgotten
same!!!! :D

I’m totally with you!!
just watching THIS puts me in tears over this movie, it’s SO GOOD and thank you for giving it the justice it deserves omg
Funny enough they even sort of look alike
I thought I lost you is my favourite song in the movie, I watch the credits after watching the movie just to listen to that song.
Just hearing the music of Bolt and Penny reuniting legit got me chocked up. I haven't watched this film in years! How?!

I did cry 💀💀😊

Man, you know a scene is good when even just watching the clip of Bolt laying down to die with Penny and then mustering one last super bark makes me tear up 🥲
The pigeons in the latin spanish version (which is the one I saw as a child) have a really stressed Argentine accent, which makes them sound really goofy and out of place compared to the more "neutral" spanish the other characters have. Even as a child and living in Argentina my hole life I always exploded laughing when hearing them cause they are so off-tone to the rest of the voices. I really recommend watching that clip in latin spanish, it's pure gold
When done right, those random animals with Argentine accent can get to be really funny lmao. Idk why they do that but it's hilarious
OMG i remembered that i've always loved the scenes with the pigeons but i forgot why and now this makes sense😭😭 as an uruguayan child, since we have similar accents, it was so fun to see, definitely one of the best parts of the movie in the latin spanish ver
I also watched in Latin Spanish. The moment where he mentioned to comedy being good, that scene automatically popped in my mind, it was so funny.
bolt always, without fail, tugs on my heart. every time i watch it, no matter what, i am either in tears or on the verge of tears the entire third act. it's just such a good story.
This is genuinely one of my favourite movies ever. I never not cry at it and the characterisation of Bolt and Mittens is a masterpiece. Not to mention found family will never not be enjoyable because it works so well.
Agree. This movie was the first to make me cry as well.
I usually agree with Schaff’s ratings, but Bolt is one of my favorite movies and seeing him rate it so low made me so sad lol
Finally someone defending this masterpiece
It's not perfect but it is pretty great
Also, as an Brazilian, I feel the need to say that I do prefer Brazilian portuguese dub, specially for Rhino, because in Portuguese he has a perfect balance in his voice acting that doesn't make him annoying

Bolt is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time for a lot of reasons
1. I'm a huge fan of action and they got lot's of it!
2. I'm a dog/cat person.
3. It made me want to get a pet of my own!
4. It was emotionally mature!
5. Still a fantastic film to this day
10/10 (Best Disney Pictures movie next to Wreck It Ralph)
This movie was one of my childhood favorites
Mine too.
This movie holds a special place for me in my heart. Not only because I’m a dog person, but because when my sister and I were younger, when she had cancer, I would sit off to the side, pull up this movie on the little screens they had, and just watch it over and over again. Even though I couldn’t really comprehend what was going on at the time, I found comfort in it for some reason, and it just forever stuck with me
(If you’re wondering, yes my sister is cancer free.
That rap was an unironic banger from dtart to finish and he said the thing. 11/10
Plus, it's the firefighters who ultimately rescue them, not themselves, which gives the characters involved a level of vulnerability I don't see very often, especially in stuff aimed at kids.
well technically bolt alerted the firemen through a vent.
bolt is one of those movies that was so magical to me as a kid. the animation, the world, the music the delivery of their lines was so convincing for me. it’ll always have a special place in my heart. idk how anyone thinks this movie is lame
Bolt is fantastic. It's such a wholesome and funny movie and Bolt is such a cute little boy
I absolutely loved Mittens, I still have the plush toy of her that my parents bought me, I took it almost everywhere with me
I had a plush of bolt as a kid!
I've seen artists on Instagram dedicated to Bolt, it just goes to show that the movie definitely holds a special place in a lot of people's hearts
when i rewatched this movie it was even better than when i was younger.
as someone who loves bolt i appreciate you speaking for us bolt enjoyers

Seriously almost teared up when you were talking about the finale, thank you for doing this movie justice.
Bolt is absolutely my favorite Disney movie, I'll always watch it again and again.
It knows how to speed things up, and when to slow it down, and it makes you feel like the ending with everyone finally together was earned.
this is the first time I've ever heard someone else explain how much they love bolt, and im so glad that I've found someone who loves it just as much as I do
Bolt was a really good movie imo. Yeah sure it had flaws but overall I think it’s one of the best Disney movies to this day

I remember seeing this movie in theaters in 3D back in 2008 November as a young toddler.
