Many thanks Phil and Georgie. I learnt things like "catching 40 winks", "getting some shut eye", "fight-or-flight and knock-on effect. It's always always something new to learn. It's marvellous to keep improving my English thanks to you all.
I totally agree the point a good night sleep is very important. Because without sleeping enough, you will be easy to get stress. A long period without sleeping makes your body not healthy. It will cause many health problems. So try your best to have a good sleep. It makes your brain refresh and work effectively. Thanks BBC news 6 min
I agree with the information given regarding sleep. A good night sleep has become part of my keep healthy routine especially when I have to assimilate a lot of details or complex English grammar rules somehow it all comes back to me when I wake up in the morning....how bizarre!
Good luck! Hopefully you'll be able to start getting more sleep soon 😴 :) Have you seen this lesson on vocabulary for baby equipment? 👇 th-cam.com/video/XLDshEEC_6k/w-d-xo.html

Glad to hear, hope you keep learning english exclusively in english, that’s helping you avoid translating in your mind and help you to think in english 👍
Sleep play a significant role in our life .almost our well-being is linked with the amount of sleep we get at night .we must be aware of the disadvantages and harms caused by sleeplessness. It leads to chronic illnesses, might drive us towards various conditions.
😊 Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic! 🤓 Here's a quick tip - remember to put the 's' on the end of 'play' when using the third person singular, so it should be: 'Sleep plays a significant role in our life.'
this topic has been very useful to me.because you have given some important information, vocabulary and different ideas about sleep. I have learnt a lot of new things. thanks a million !!!!1
I really enjoy this topic, recently I read book “Why we sleep” M. Walker and change my attitude to sleep, thank you for new words, actually, for me, there’re a lot of it.
Notes: Catch 40 winks /Get some shut eye / Doze / Take a nape = Sleep Have a problem, and sleep on it = making a decision until you have time to think ab it. Deprivation = an absence or too little of sth important Fight or flight response = changes in human body in response to dangerous situation ( fight/ run away) Knock-on effect = it causes another results indirectly

Sleep on it. Ah! It reminds me of the lyrics in the song You are beautiful, from James Blunt: "I won't lose or 'sleep on that', cause I have a plan..." But it conveys a slightly different idea I suppose.
Jeremy the Jedi was considering whether to volunteer to go on a special mission. Jeremy decided to sleep on it. He decided to go on the next day. Jeremy couldn't take in what the other Jedi were talking about at their mission briefing, so he decided to take a nap. He was a bit sleep-deprived, anyway, so he thought he might as well get some shut-eye. However, Jeremy being sleep-deprived had a knock-on effect on his mission. He was very tired during the mission, and his fight-or-flight response told him immediately to run when he saw the Sith Lord they were supposed to fight. This left the rest of his squad to fight the Sith Lord on their own. The Jedi won though, but Jeremy was told off by his Jedi colleagues. Jeremy vowed to sleep better from then on.
Unfortunately with developing of the infrastructure and speed of internet and growth of social media I have problem for sleeping. Sleeping soon at nights sometimes will become a big dream for me .😢

Can I use “knock on effects” in ielts writing? thanks
It depends on the task, but usually, yes. Don't forget the hyphen - a knock-on effect.
❤❤❤
Can u pls write down the new words with their meaning here?
What do fit 2:03 and 3:22 damp down mean?
If you damp something down you make it less strong. If you 'fit something in' you find a place for it.
