Hi! I'd like to add a few words about blueberries. These berries grow not only in North America but in South America and Europe as well.I think they can be exotic only for people from some parts of Asia or Africa.
Vocabulary from this video BBC 6 minute English "Health benefits of apples": 1) Proverb (n) - a short sentence or expression giving helpful well-known advice or common sense. Scientific research shows that apple skins are full of good nutrients, including fiber, vitamins, and especially flavonoids. Flavonoids are chemical compounds that can help people reduce blood pressure and improve brain and heart health, making them useful in preventing certain types of cancer and heart disease. Therefore, instead of opting for exotic fruits like blueberries or banana smoothies, you can grab an apple for a healthy snack when you feel peckish. Apples are incredibly versatile and can be eaten in many ways, such as snacking on them, grating them into porridge, or baking them in pies. In addition, some people believe that eating apples can help trim their waistline and keep them in good shape. To sum up, apples are not only healthy but also delicious, making them a great option for a nutritious snack or addition to a meal. Bringing apples to the office for lunch can be a smart choice for anyone looking to improve their health and maintain a balanced diet. With their versatility and numerous health benefits, apples are a great choice for anyone looking for a quick and easy snack that will keep them feeling full and satisfied throughout the day. In Korea, we also have a proverb like eating an apple in the morning is a golden apple. I used to snack apples when I felt peckish. I should start to eat an apple every morning to trim the waistline from today!
thanks BBC! My summary while listening English has many proverbs that give a piece of advice or common sense such as "actions speak louder than words", and "don't judge a book by its cover." Proverbs are found in many cultures and languages and are often passed down through generations to teach children lessons in life. One famous English proverb is "An apple a day keeps a doctor away." that means fresh fruits are good for us but is it really true, does eating apples have significant health benefits? - that's the main question to be discussing today. According to Dr. Michael Mosley, whenever he's peckish, he often snacks on an apple which is not only delicious but also improves his blood flow, boosts his brain, and trims his waistline. Also, what he loves about apples is that they are so versatile. He's been snacking on them, grating them into his porridge, and having them sliced with full-fat yogurt as a dessert. But baked apples are one of his favorite ways to consume them.

It's always amazing to find how many proverbs different languages have in common. For example, we have this same proverb in Italian " Una mela al giorno toglie il medico di torno".
Some people don't eat fruits when they are hungry because they need something salty. However, it's very important to eat fruits. If that happens to us, we should force ourselves to eat them.
Today’s topic is very practical and beneficial. I haven’t know apples have such a superpower for our health. Besides, you can lose weight if you eat apples. I’m getting puckish. Let’s eat an apple!!!😀
Thank you BBC ENGLISH for this greatest channel and these wonderful and useful videos, it makes me learn a lot of things which I need to communicate in my daily routine with people ..
FUN FACT: / Apples have a natural waxy layer. Once they are picked they are thoroughly washed and the natural layer is gone so to prevent apples from drying* up they spray them with a "synthetic" wax to make up for the lost natural waxy layer./ This is why you have wax on your apples. Wax is not digestible = it just comes through us and say bye bye later on. I still wish I would not have to eat it but... hard not to... It takes a lot of work with a scourer and hot water, planting your own tree, etc. Hopefully the wax is not that bad and is not soaked in chemicals that would collect in our bodies/ Something I have read from google so you can do your own research if you are interested more about it/ *( if you have ever eaten a dry orange you probably know what I am talking about ;p )
