Great stuff Ross. Geez we have a lot ofnwayer in storage for this time of the year. I wonder if that's why they're bringing forward the drawdown of Lake Mulwala? Just in case it rains. LOL
I have genuine concerns, Robbie. Both Dart and Hume are holding a lot of water. Could be the first time we see a spillway breach at Dartmouth for many years. I think they need to start creating some air space.
Just for an interesting point, I looked at historical water levels there. From memory they let the dam fill right up about every 7 years for some reason and then the average mean water height slowly drops till the next cycle.
To fish both, probably Tallangatta, boat ramp next to the caravan park or cheap camping at the showgrounds and 1 hour drive to Dartmouth boat ramp. Mitta caravan park would also be an option.
Enjoyed the video and the good tips on fishing Dartmouth. Lake is a fantastic place and good to see it looking so fresh and full. Im interested to know what’s your preferred trolling speed? Keep up the great series
Put the lure in the water and check to see how it’s moving. You can judge the best speed from there. That’s the best way to do it I find. Weather conditions can be a factor. Because if it’s windy, you can’t just set to your normal speed.
Hi Gerard, trolling speed is somewhat dependent on lure choice. If you are using tassies they need a bit more pace than some others. The advice from Skinner J is good; run your lures beside the boat and check their action. Tassies can be combined with Rapalas, Bullets etc. If using fenders and worms/mudeyes, you will need a slower speed, and they can be combined with flatfish and other slow retrieve lures.
Great advice - thank you. I fished dart over three days this last week and had some good results early and late in the day. Tassie devils best on lead lines down at about 15m. Got mixed up a bit on troll speed so will use your tips next time. Thank you and Good Fishing!
Looks like a great day out Ross. The fillets ready for the smoker made me want to reach for some cracker and a beer! Hope you both enjoyed them. Great to see the lake. So much water everywhere. Have been down the snowy a fair bit lately and have to laugh, the Council and the Parks must have forgotten what the height of Jindy dam is, half the lakeside infrastructure is in the drink! Hope you enjoy the autumn. Cheers mate PP
Thank you so much PP. Autumn is a magic time here in the North East. Both Dartmouth and Hume are holding good water, the weather is settled and the fish are biting. I'm certainly lucky where I live. Don't forget to get in touch if you're ever down this way.
Good stuff Ross! That rainbow should cook up a treat, a very nice fish indeed! 👌
Thanks mate. Smoked and shared with our new neighbours as a welcome offering. Nothing like wild bred trout.
another helpful vid Ross. Thanks heaps for making the effort to pull it together.
Thanks so much, Rob. I really appreciate the support.

Always nice to get up to Dart, Darren. It's starting to fish well.

Hi Jack, hope you are going well. Yes Dartmouth is a great destination.

We were lucky to strike such a good day, Michale. It's a great spot to spend a day.

Nice one Ross, all the best and thanks!
Thanks Chris. Tight lines, mate.
Good stuff guy's! We are heading into Vic in late summer 2023, where would the best location be to base ourselves to boat fish Dartmouth and the Hume?

@@FishtalkVideo Excellent! thank you!
Was there camping that weekend and the reports that it was busy is more than true.
Yes, Friday was a bit more laid back!

My pleasure. Good luck with future trips.
Hey Ross, how’s the fishing been? Can we expect any videos soon?
Hey Matthew, I'm editing a recent Dartmouth trip now, will hopefully have it ready soon. Thank you for getting in touch! Cheers, Ross
Geez engine is louder than the old one…
It's actually not, the go pro volume settings were set too high during editing. The last two scenes were at a better level.
