Greetings from Bergvliet. Great video! What I really love about these Vw 1600 engines as a blind person is that when reving and accelerating they make a sort of metallic tapping sound from all 4 cylinders and it goes away when easing off the accelerator and I use that type of sound to identify almost all car brands and models that have petrol engines. Our 2011 model Ford Figo 1.4 petrol unfortunately doesn't make this sort of sound and the exhaust system sounds too throaty and sporty when compared to, let's say, the exhaust from a Polo Vivo like the one in this video which causes me to not be able to identify the car instantly. It also tends to misfire on start-up, mostly when warm, but not all the time. I've also noticed these issues on most of the Fiestas from 2002 to 2008 with the 1.4l engines as the Figo is basically a slight exterior redesign of that model.
Hi there....i know this video is quite awhile ago....but i jst want to know....im about to change my timing chain cover on this spesific 1.6 polo vivo....can i unscrew the crankshaft pulley without desturbing the timing?....

Hi Gary, great video. I have a similar issue. A VCDS test shows misfire detected cilinder 2. Swopped coils, plugs and swopped out injectors between cilinders but when EPC code comes up, it stays with cilinder 2 and it idles quite rough any suggestions? tx
@@tsholanangprecious6378 Replace the cylinder head, if it is not giving you any trouble other than seeping a little oil, live with it, it is cheaper than replacing the head and the performance and functionality will not be different.
An EPC light on a Polo is usually electrical and can be as simple as a brake light bulb that could be fused, a proper diagnostic test is the best way to find out for sure, Kathleho
I did a service today. Got to spark plugs. When I took coils out I noticed that a piece of the coil was stuck on the spark plug. I only replaced 3 plugs as I was scared to take out the 2nd spark plug as I was worried it will start misfiring if I remove the damaged coil. I put the coil packs back and the car drives fine. Is this a common issue with those coil packs? It still has the original Vw coil packs 2011 model polo 1.4 with 95000km...best thing to do is replace coil right?
Hello Lgmaan, unfortunately this is a common problem on this Polo, especially at this mileage, best to replace all 4 as soon as you are able, it will start misfiring with time.
Hi Gary,, my Polo 1.6 is misfiring, is it advisable to purchase both the spark plugs and the ignition coils? Because what happens is when I'm driving the EPC light comes on and the car loses power same time, no acceleration as well. So I think the problem is with the misfiring since the engine has too much vibrations.
Hi Gindo, thanks for supporting my channel, you seem to have 2 separate problems, as the polo has a fly by wire system (No accelerator cable) there could be a few components that can cause no acceleration like the accelerator pedal, throttle body or, PCV valve (pressure control valve) as far as the misfire goes this is in all probability caused by either coils or spark plugs being faulty, when replacing coils it is best to replace all 4 as it normally packs up one by one.
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 nice,, and then in terms of overheating? I filled the reservoir with antifreezer, the fan is working perfectly fine, I'm not sure about the Thermostat didn't check, but it's overheating and the fluid is coming out of the reservoir cap at high pressures.

Hi Kgopotso, thanks for supporting my channel with your visit, EPC light on warnings are generally electrical faults, from as simple as a brake light bulb not working to a fault with the ventilating valve, which affects the fly by wire throttle, so one has to follow a procedure of elimination starting with the simplest through to the more complicated. Hope this helps. Gary
Hi Tumelo, thanks for supporting my channel with your visit, I moved the coils from cylinder to cylinder and monitored if the misfire moved with it, that is how I knew which coils were faulty.
Hi sir I'm driving 1.6 comfortline polo when you're driving with gear 1 it doesn't have power and it fastely accerate faster what seems to be a problem thanks in advance
Hi Hendry, what you are explaining could be many things, it could be that the car has a misfire, this will take away lots of the power, it could be a spark plug or coil, it could be a lack of compression. It could also be a blocked petrol filter or a failing fuel pump, there are so many possibilities, it looks like you need to take it to a good mechanic with diagnostic equipment, good luck I hope you get it sorted.

My 1,6 Comfortline has a burnt spark plug 1. What's the problem? 1. Is it blocked o dirty petrol filter? 2. Is it blocked o faulty oil filter? 3. The spark is hit by the piston?
I am sorry Thulani, I do not fully understand your question, but I will answer to the best of my ability, if there is a noise on the brakes, it could either be a screech, due to cheap pads, it is not dangerous just annoying, if it is making a grinding sound then there is no more abrasive lining left on the pads and it needs to be replaced. if there is liquid leaking it could be either the calliper or one of the pipes that have a leak. I hope this help and thank you for supporting my channel. Gary
Hello Lebo I normally use Shell Helix 15w40 semi synthetic oil when I do these services on the Polo, if you do not do regular services and stretch the mileage between services, then for extra protection you may use a full synthetic oil, but I always believed in services on time saves your engine from pre mature wear and failure. You can speed up the filling of oil by opening the plastic cover (with the 2 hex bolts) below the oil cap.

What is the recommended Oil for VW Polo Vivo 2016 1.4..... Various VW outlets giving conflicting information.... One says 10w40 the other 5w40
10w 40 is what I usually use as recommended by the manufacturers, Charles, you could go with 5w30 but that will be overkill.
