cjj1972 this is true. I use a longer punch because a few years ago I took a piece of metal to the shoulder because I was too close the hot work piece and I got a trip to the emergency room lol, so I just put up with the issues a longer punch has so i keep some distance. That’s pretty much the reason, but a smart observation on your part.
Nice work, a shorter punch would be more beneficial though. Easier to control and less deflection upon impact.
