  • Here are the basics of a 231 formation.
(Usually we do not play with the offside rule and this should be exploited!)
This is predominantly about playing out the back, creating defensive cover moving forwards and getting the ball forward as quickly as possible.
The space to exploit are the offensive corners of the pitch and we try to get the ball there as quickly as possible and play from the corner.
The ball warm-up is a practiced pattern of play, that can also be set up on the pitch to finish in the goal.
    Other relevant warm-up, training & SSG's:
    - Active Stretching (pre-game): • 7v7 Active stretching ...
    - The Four Square Game: • The Four Square Game (...
    - Out the back to shooting drill: • 231 shooting drill (Do...
Here is the progressive development of these tactical theories:
    • 7v7, a 231 "advanced" ...

cooking with Berke we finished in 3rd. Had a ton of injuries though.
It honestly isnt nearly as fast paced as it may seem. But definitely emphasize ball control

    offsides ?

... there usually isn't offside in 7 a side (there hasn't been any in the tournaments we play in). If there is, then the instruction is the same for the striker to stay as far up the field, but in line with the last defender to remain onside. We then would need to coach player (striker) specific skills, such as how to make a curved run, timing of runs, movement for the defender and for the ball, etc.

Good information but this video is gonna have you teaching bad habits when it comes to the offsides rule. Even if your 7v7 league doesn’t use offsides, it’s better to learn right so when you play everywhere else you won’t have to brake the bad habits.

I disagree. I think it teaches a better understanding of the attacking principles of play. Then when the offside rule is brought in, what an actually clever and useful rule it is for the team without the ball and how it can be used to better implement the defensive principles of play.

@@totalfootballschools I don’t know. Seems the striker is gonna find themselves getting called offsides a lot based on habit thinking he/she can just shoot deep behind the defense and wait for the ball. Better to continue the idea your already implemented in the backfield of passing into the open spaces where the advancing teammate can receive the ball freely.
