LYRICS:
interstellar
minds together
bless this hell
we'll die together
disjointed in a state of disrepair
conforming just to save the unaware
to repent atone for sins
barganing for our uncertain endings
programming our grand demise
upgrade downgrade back to default settings
disrepair....
unaware....
pure despair...
so unfair...
and I cannot get away, I can't escape, are we awake? Oh I don't know anymore,
and I'm losing all my senses every time I make advances, so what are we good for?
we're so mindless, in pursuit of a good ending when we don't know what that even feels like,
I can hardly tell if I am even breathing at this rate, are we alive out of spite?

can confirm this song fucking slaps ingame
Those lyrics… they speak to me
Oh huh, I couldn't even hear the lyrics as actual words without knowing what they're supposed to be.
Aaaaand added to Musixmatch. Ya welcome!
These lyrics speak to me more than anything else has, and the composition leaps far out of just the boss battle and even the level that follows it
you know what I found really funny? final boss' health bar is placed above OUR head, unlike with all bosses. kind of... you know...
I don't know how I didn't pick up on that before, that's such a great point!
See, I initially parsed that as a QoL thing considering how all-over-the-place things were? But well...
@@MrSmegheneghan hey, could be both!
"you but stronger" bosses? what about "you but YOU" final boss.

Wtf jameskii
Lmao
Woman shoot game
Good taste. Easily the best autoshooter on steam outside of Vampire Survivors.
yoooo look who we've got here
I want to re-experience the distraught of a third phase then jamming out to a banger while dying
nothing like the pure horror of realizing this final battle has more than TWO health bars
OOPS ALL HEALTHBARS
A second form? Understandable.
It's not over?!!!
Goes pretty hard in the trailer, I cannot wait to hear this with proper context, lol.
Let us know what you thought whenever you do!
I to will watch the lore videos on this.
It was dope.
I know you've probably already beaten the boss by now, but this song was dopamine inducing during the fight wasn't it?
@@penutbutterwaffles355 i'm not op but i just beat the boss today, it felt like the song was a materialization of what was going through my head trying to dodge those attacks after a 40 minute run :sob: pure panic and chaos
the moment of surreal nightmare transforms to combat high and sadness
Trailers that use the final boss’s music are peak as fuck.
This game definitely looks cool. Will be buying it!
Then you like everhood?
On God, dude. When the trailer music started playing on this boss the first time I got to this stage, I just about lost my shit it was so hype.
I remember first Madness: Project Nexus alpha trailers and it's theme. Don't know if you played but that's exactly what I experienced there.
@@justinkianaalfredo6843 holy shit an EVERHOOD FAN?
From breakcore to... vocaloid liquid funk? Heavy sakuzyo vibes.
Love it how compiles all the previous boss themes into one for the final battle, reminding you the whole journey.
Now that you bring up Sakuzyo, I'm reminded of Crymachina.
I somehow didn't even notice that it used all the previous boss themes though. That's really neat!
just beat my first run. what a phenomenal boss fight and sound track. one of the coolest bosses i’ve ever fought by far. it gave me one of my first “zen” experiences that bullet hells are apparently supposed to give you. really excellent game
Bullet hells are meant to cause zen?
@@-z4630 That's what I've heard at least. I think it was mainly from touhou players. Bullet hells on the surface seem really stressful, and they are, but once you are on a boss and you just need to focus, you kinda just zone out. Instead of stressing you feel relaxed. That's what I felt for this boss
@@lloxuyou get in what’s known as ‘the zone’, a state of mind where you become so focused that for a moment, nothing else in the world matters but the task you’re focusing on. Kind of like how you focus on the road when you’re driving. Your place in the world fades away, and you reach a state of calmness; as every movement must be slow and calculated, even if that means accounting for pixel perfect movement.
@@lloxu I also feel relaxed while fighting Picayune, for a reason I can't quite explain. there aren't any more finnicky mechanics I need to worry about, no attack patterns I need to memorise. just a beautiful dance, while this magnificent yet oddly sorrowful music plays. this game is one among the best bullet hells, if not the singlular best one.
The section with the parts cut out was BEAUTIFUL, the more I listen to the song, the more I find parts about it to love. Made this for (myself mainly) anyone who wants to sing along.

GUMI? As in, the same GUMI I've played tracks of in a rhythm game like Cytus? That really takes me back, damn. Hearing Interstellar in context is definitely one of the high points of the game.
the same gumi that sung "our 16 bit war"
the same gumi that sung echo
I no-hitted the third phase the first time I got to it. I have this track to thank for getting me pumped. Amazing job.
corny
Love the impact of a vocal theme right at the end and how long it lingers during a loop. Incredible game and soundtrack.
While I'm not going to play the game as Bullet Hell Shooters aren't for me, my friend recommended I check out the soundtrack because its full of "sick DnB", and Jesus fuck was he on point.
The entire soundtrack, this one in particular, is a technical masterpiece that perfectly encapsulates the chaotic Cthulupasta space bullshit you fight against.
I live an existence of perpetual depression and rage, but I also like celestial themes, so both the lyrics and instrumental for this track resonate with me.
Anyway, back to headbanging.
ON A MISSION TO SAVE
THE UNDERWEAR
….take ….. that ….. back…. 😭
Can't stop listening to this. The rhythm and drums is addicting af
The lyrics hit differently after learning the lore.
can u explain lore pls? I didnt really get it:(
@@Что-то-й3м Spoilers below, here's what I took away from the lore.
Really, spoilers, I mean it.
The game is still good even if you're spoiled though but I have to admit the way the story is presented reflects the themes of the story.
In the near future on earth, it's discovered that in the depths of space there's some kind of reality bending cosmic entity that is set to destroy all life on earth. This entity comes to be known as the Aberration.
In response to this an organisation on earth is formed that brings together, intended to draw from the best and brightest of humanity and equip them with the all the training, equipment, and knowledge required to go to space as astronauts and stop the Aberration before humanity is doomed.
The efforts of this organisation continue for quite some time and, eventually, 5 people are invited to the program to serve as astronauts by one means or another. From their perspectives, through the lens of symbolic dreams, it is discovered that the organisation is not as beneficent as its purpose implies. The program's organisers use the absolute authority granted to them by the direness of the situation to run the whole organisation abusively and neglectfully, likely benefitting from the positions of unchallenged power that it affords them.
All trainee astronauts, after signing contracts for a position they would be socially expected to sign for the good of all humanity, are immediately forced into huge loans which would financially cripple them for the rest of their lives which they can only repay if they don't fail/quit. Following this they are made to undergo physical and mental training where should they fail to meet expected milestones they would be forcibly ejected from the program. When trainees did start to miss these milestones they were "volunteered" to undergo extensive physical and mental augmentations with little consideration for their mental wellbeing, and when one of the trainees was caught cheating tests an organiser actually just told them to carry on because they didn't care.
Trainee astronauts all ended up experiencing various forms of trauma, disenfranchisement, and suffering otherwise. Their experiences in the organisation being universally negative the best that could be said was that they trauma bonded with each other. At least the astronauts where provided with state of the art equipment that was promised, both in terms of cyborg enhancements (regardless of their consent) or the advanced space suit that had the ability to preserve the life of the user even after death to ensure the completion of their mission in even the most dire circumstances.
Now, at the most dire of times, the 5 people, now astronauts, mentioned earlier were sent aboard a spaceship to bolster the ongoing effort to stop the Aberration. One of these astronauts liked rabbits and was simple minded, one was extensively augmented with little of their original body remaining, one enjoyed riding bikes, one had a gloomy personality, and one was considered the group's leader.
As their voyage into space continued for months, tensions grew higher and higher. The Aberration's effects began to hit the ship sooner than expected, only exasperating the self doubt and fear each of the astronauts harboured from their traumatic time in the organisation. Then, one fateful day, the ship was hit with an overwhelming spike of the Aberration's strange power. Panic set in among the crew as they realised that the organisation's instructions were wrong placing them dangerously close to the Aberration's influence and leaving them to die before they could do a thing.
It was in this moment where the leader of the crew, Picayune, began to have a breakdown as the life of abuse and feelings of utter inadequacy crippled her mind when her leadership was needed most. She lost all hope, and in that moment the Aberration seized upon her utter despair. Bursting out of her body like a cocoon Picayune's broken spirit had embraced the Abberation and emerged as a horrible new entity, murdering all of their former friends in a crazed fit as she absorbed their weakened minds. When the bloodbath was over, and Picayune had escaped into space with the new mission to use the Abberation's power to take revenge on the Earth which had tortured her, all that was left was her corpse.
At the time of her death, unlike her friends, she was wearing her space suit. Her body was a soulless husk and yet, the suit would not permit it to die.
In time, a corpse wearing an advanced space suit would reawaken aimless in a void filled with nightmarish creatures. Suit designation Cyl, the only thing she can remember clearly being a mission to stop the Abberation and save humanity. Over the course of her many deaths and revivals she might discover the memories she now shares with her ultimate adversary, and should she complete her mission it is up to Cyl what is to be done with Picayune and what remains of her friends.
BONUS: In Cyl's mission to destroy the aberration she inadvertently encounters another reawakened astronaut-corpse when a horrifying entity consumes one of the floating medical kits Cyl had been using herself to survive. The other astronaut's body is clearly desiccated or scorched, clearly having been killed some time ago, and yet was still being revived by her suit. Still clearly being possessed of some supernatural force, possibly the soul which Cyl unknowingly lacked, this "Ghost" astronaut informed Cyl that many crews before hers had been sent and died in attempts to complete their mission. This could possibly explain the husks of space vehicles Cyl encounters on her mission, as well as the various space debris she finds on her approach to the Abberation (and Picayune).
@@Что-то-й3м spoilers alert:
so bassicly its just random ass people being sent to space because something bad is happening to earth idk that much but i reccomend getting the game
@@SkillfulhandZ man that's basic. I played it and get like 70% of achievements. But i didn't get lore at all, not plot
@@Что-то-й3м in resume, always when you defeat a boss you will get a memory that plays in Cyl's head when she dies, these memories reveal the stories of the bosses you fight and how they were tasked to save earth from a threat called "the aberration",they all have problems with this but the government didn't care of course,so they went through a lot of shit to go to space but not even close to the aberration everything started going south,Picayune cursed the world for what was happening to her and her friends so much to a point she fused with the aberration and right after transformed her friends too,the government manage to recover the ship and create a cyborg from Picayune's corpse,we play as the cyborg Cyl.

This theme is incredible, this is what fighting yourself in space sounds like
Ohhirad
GUMI is the perfect voice for a game like Picayune. She sounds so "distressed in the early 2000's" and it fits so well.
...that being said, I think I'm... I'm gonna... AMBOUTTACUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM
What an incredible track! That drum break is so clean, those rhythmic chords add so much to the mix, that bass locks it all in, and those vocaloid vocals are the cherry on top. Beautiful! 😮
Its megapoid you see that gumi is in the feat

God damn this goes so hard...
Thanks for giving the lyrics, they're sadly fitting for the game's story.
hell yeah
Id actually forgotten about Picayune Dreams, but then the trailer and the music were so good i bought it + the soundtrack instantly, and my god this game is doing something to me
Bought the game and soundtrack in a heartbeat after the trailer dropped. Happy to report that every fiber of the soundtrack slays.
genuinely thought this was just the cool ass trailer theme and then actually hearing it in game caught me off guard
pleasant surprise though and im not complaining this song is insanely good
this song is sick as hell i'm half inspired to buy the game off of this alone
This song alongside the boss fight goes harder than anything I've felt all year. Great work!
Absolute banger, this is one of my new favorite boss battle themes of all time
I've been listening to this over and over and I've really started considering your decision to ask GUMI to essentially scream during the climax of the song. I think it's pretty haunting that this could quite literally be Picayune panicking. (Read more for spoilers)
I mean this as in, Picayune's thoughts right before absorbing the Aberration. It's unlikely that she rhymed while screaming out loud, but these lyrics pretty much represent her thoughts accurately. Essentially, you're getting a straight up panic attack in the form of vocaloid music. As much as this is really cool, I can't help but feel bad for Picayune. For one, the neutral ending feels so futile, like everything you just did was for nothing. Cyl explains the tragedy that is humanity and that she has accomplished her only mission, showing that all the weird monsters and bosses and everything so difficult that you just faced is going to be forgotten within a week or so. Secondly, Picayune wanted to save the world, for the good of everyone, but she's also human and thinks the government is selfish for sending humans into space to fight something insurmountable. Picayune doesn't seem to be in control of the evil influence of the Aberration, so her only choice is to attack Cyl, and presumably Earth if she fails. The entire story is sad, which is what makes the true ending so rewarding. Good job, milkypossum and the Picayune Dreams team--you made a fantastic game.
Where is the climax again?
This game and song will be stuck in my head forever. It already feels nostalgic. amazing song!
Yeah, hearing it in game after experiencing it as first thing in trailer on steam kinda fires neurones somehow even more. And all the lirycs is just so straightforward what you experience in game. And that part about dying together was really personal for final boss when I first got there, seems like, when I saw third phase coming up while having HP for one hit, this really felt like "oh no, you don't". And I just wanted to lvl up lighter to 8 for a new thingy, lol.
this goes so hard!!!!! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAH I'M SO EXCITED TO PURCHASE THE GAME AND THE SOUNDTRACK
I felt like I was hearing Miku or some sort of vocaloid. This is so fucking cool knowing it really is!!!!!
God, this is honestly splendid! Music is a really important thing when it comes to the emotion a video game wants to reflect, and you did that so amazingly for the final boss' phases!
Especially the lyrics, they speak for the game's lore so well.
I just wanna say I've been having both volumes on repeat while doing work and I absolutely adore them. You are so awesome for making it!
I don’t wanna lose the heart I got on my previous comment, so I’m going to make a new one.
I’ve bought the game.
I’ve made it as far as the biker guy before he ran me the heck over, and every boss has just had the most banger theme.
I *dread* whatever abomination has *this* good of a theme.

I got to this boss and absolutely fell in love with the song it was the best feeling in the world, got so lucky with the fight too
This and Culmination have to be some of my favorites in the game... ive even added them to my spotify. 😂 cant wait to finish my video on this game, such a good hidden gem.
2:16 I can hear the vocals counting here: 1... 2... 3... 4... this sounds very intentional
also i think i can make out "love, peace, and ___" in the next verse, though i'm less sure that's intentional
maybe if i listen to this song a few hundred more times i'll figure it out :)
(love this game, the soundtrack is great and that feeling of battling for control over the horde between bosses appeals to the chaos gremlin inside my brain)
Instantly fell in love with this track when I heard it in-game for the first time! Absolutely amazing
