  • Only 8k miles and I see little leak on the oil pan gasket. I'm keeping an eye on it and see if the leak on my next oil change

Thank you for this. I smell oil slightly burning on my new ‘24 Palisade. I will check it out at the 5000 mi mark when I do the first oil/filter change. Appreciate you!

Thanks for the walk-through. The clowns at the Hyundai dealership refused to honor the complimentary maintenance for my Palisade this time around. I got it changed after 5K miles last time and they didn't ask questions. This time it was at 7100 miles and they told me I had to wait until the odometer hit 24K miles before they'd do it for free, which would be about 11K mile interval (which ain't no way in hell I'd run it that long). I got pissed at the service manager and walked tf out and pulled up your video 😊

I’m glad the video helps you. Mine free maintenance is over anyway because I have 35k miles now. The last time I took my car in for warranty work and they changed the oil for free and told it would be my last oil change for free because of the mileage.

I always add a little oil to the canister filter before reinstallation. Prevents starvation at start up.

My ‘23 Palisade is leaking from the oil pan gasket just like yours. Kind of unsettling coming from a new car.

The dealer told me it came from the oil swith right on top of the oil pan. They replaced it under warranty.

I’m going to do mine this weekend it’s the second oil change though and the dealer only offered one but it doesn’t matter because they use cheap oil and I’m going to use Amsoil. Mobil one is good oil as well for this type of vehicle that’s not a performance car but just a daily driver. Where did you get the crush washer for the drain bolt? Just in case you didn’t mention it the torque for the drain bolt is 29 ft lbs

The crush washer came with the filter. Surprised that they only offered you one oil change.

What point did you use to lift it so you could get the stands under?

I jack at the back of the lower control arm where the bolt mounted to the body.

    Will this void the warranty?

    • @SC-xk6uk

I don't see why it would void your warranty, but I understand your concern. I saved all receipts. I took my car in this Saturday and for the wiper recall. I mentioned to him that I did my own oil changes. The service writer recommends to save all my receipts to prove it just in case.

It's against federal law for dealers, etc. to void your warranty because you performed your own maintenance.

Does the palisade only take synthetic oil?

      Yes

I looked at the manual and couldn’t find where it says synthetic only. I just use synthetic because it better

You can use regular but then it has a different oil change schedule. It's in the manual.

Depends on where you live. I would use synthetic oil if there is rough winter or hot summer
