Please don't tell me I'm the only one who still hasn't read The Mistborn Trilogy?! (it has been on my tbr for SO LONG, but I'm pretty intimidated by it... I really hope to read it soon!)
I must say the hype got the hold of me, and when I read, at least, the final empire...I wasn't too impressed. Not because of the worldbuilding, plot and twists...but because I just couldn't feel anything for characters, with some exceptions. I really hated Vin. HOWEVER, after somehow slogging my ass through the first book and completing it, I remember few weeks later imagining about that very fucking world, so I bought the other two books. Cos I'm a masochist, apparently. This time around, I fell in love with all of them, now I'm a preacher of this series. TLDR; just read it. PS: Stormlight is better.
Me: *lives in southern hemisphere, where it is going in to summer and progressively getting ridiculously hot* also Me: *watches a video recommending winter reads because its Regan and I can't not*
An EXCELLENT story to read during winter for me..."Harry Potter" period. or well tbh during ANY season! it just makes you feel so much joy:D but the first one in particular during winter;)
I would recommend Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys, Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein (WWII fiction is great for winter), The Secret History by Donna Tartt, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, and The Art of Starving by Sam J. Miller.
I love what you said about _Whichwood_ in this video! Tahereh Mafi really does balance emotional complexity and whimsy/discovery in her MG so well, and more people need to read it! ❤
Hi ! I think you should read a winter's promise by Christelle Dabos. It is a french fantsy series and its world and magic system truly are unique, seriously it is unlike anything you've read before !! I'm sure you would enjoy it. It also has Louis XIV court vibes
Thank you for those! Here is a winter recommandation from me: "A Winter's Promise: The Mirror Visitor" by Christelle Dabos :). The beginning is a bit long but it's worth it! ❄
I definitely need to continue the Mistborn series! I've only read the first book and I DEFINITELY need to continue it before I forget what happens (I don't fancy rereading that beast of a book) 😅
Brandon Sanderson's work is AMAZING ! I've never been disapointed by any of his books. I personnaly would recommand to start with one of his standalones like Warbreaker or Elantris (even though he's planning on writing sequels for this one I think). They still are intimidating, but less than a 1000+ pages trilogy haha. But to be honest, every single book he wrote is amazing, so you can't go wrong :) One of my favourite books to read during wintertime is His dark materials by Philip Pullman. I read book 1 at the end of december last year and I couldn't think of a better time to read it. I also love to read Agatha Christie's novels, as well as Harry Potter. A Winter's Promise by Christelle Dabos is a good read for winter as well !
I don’t often give reading recommendations, but you absolutely need to read The Thousand Lives of Ardor Benn by Tyler Whitesides. It’s similar to Mistborn, but entirely unique and brilliant. Don’t let the description fool you. There’s so much more to it than I could ever describe.
I totally recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi for a winter read. I read it last fall for a class and fell in love. It's so beautiful and heart wrenching but honestly the less you know going in, the better. Or Fledgling by Octavia Butler. It's a really unique stand alone about vampires but none like I've ever read before. It's actually really cool and not too spooky or scary. Gives you chills though sometimes. 😯🖤🖤🖤
You really really should read Vita Nostra by Martina & Sergey Dyachenko! It is a book that has just been translated into English after it having been a big hit in Ukraine. It's about a girl who is followed by an odd man who forces her to do tasks and enroll into a school which is basically similar to hogwarts if Hogwarts was THE WORST. It is a dark fantasy set in a magical school but it is nothing like any other fantasy I have read!
I have gotten so many good recommendations from you for fantasy books! Just want to send you a shout out! I'm excited to try the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Cima.
it's currently winter in Bangladesh. and me and my sister read a monster calls some days ago and i couldn't help but feel a kinda chilly feeling. it really is a winter read. go ahead everyone and read it😁😁
I'm gonna read The last king of Osten Ard next. It's the sequel series to Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams. I read that a month ago and still can't think of starting a different book.
thats so funny because i just picked up the demon king the other day! after at least a year of debating i just caved and bought the quartet on my kindle! so good so far!!
Currently reading Whichwood! I’m halfway through at the moment and i’m really liking it. I liked Furthermore more, but maybe that was because this one is darker than Futhermore. But asside from that, i’m still really really liking Whichwood and all it’s characters. (I’m sorry for the grammar, English isn’t my first language)
Haha I was also thinking about rereading the Mistborn trilogy this winter, it's my favorite and it's been way too long ! So excited to read Vengeful as well :D
Code name verity is on my shelf..will be a 2019 reading! By the way, thanks Reagan for The Boundless by Kenneth Oppell. You mentioned it in a haul. I read it in October ..loved it!💖😄
heyy i can recommend you some. for instance all the light we cannot see, salt to the sea, the book thief and the one regan just recommended. code name verity and it's sequel. try these out if you want to😉😉
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys! Winter plays a huge part and is definitely one of my favorite historical fiction books alongside this authors other historical fiction winter book, Salt to the Sea.
I've found myself trying multiple times to start the Demon King. I can't really find a really entertaining audiobook either. So my last try is getting it in physical format (I've tried to start it in ebook format like 4 times, gave up at around 6% in, I just wasn't really invested). I've read both of V.E. Schwab's books and Mistborn. :D
I totally agree Seven Realms is GREAT! But I felt the first series was so much better than the second, i feel the characters have more depth. I'd love to know more fantasy series that I should read! I'm already aboard with Chima and Sanderson, and Schwab, and I'm going to try and catch up with Clare, are there any others that are musts?
Does anyone have any recommendations that are similar to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobes setting? I feel like there will never be anything like Narnia in winter!
Thank you for these recs!! I'd be SO interested to see what you think of the book If We Were Villains by M.L Rio. I think it's a perfect novel for winter what with its Shakespeare and mystery and incredible suspense + tension. Honestly I'm just so weak for the elite arts college setting.
Have you reaad Elantris by Sanderson? I've heard it would be best to read that before Mistborn, but I don't have Elantris. I really liked Vicious, great for fall/winter, though I haven't read Vengeful yet. Haven't read any Tahereh Mafi book, I should amend that. I read A Monster Calls but not the illustrated edition, I loved it but now I want the illustrations... So that book coming out is the reason I keep hearing The Seven Realms series lately!
Why do you need to read The Seven realms before Flamecaster? I read Shattered Realms series & didn’t feel like I missed anything but I’m not sure now?! Is it worth it to go back & read Seven Realms after Shattered Realms?
I've read Steelheart and I thought it was kind of a let down. Are Brandon Sanderson's other books similar, or are they different enough that I might like them even though I wasn't a fan of Steelheart?
unlinedwork I haven’t read Steelheart so cant speak in reference to it but I definitely think Mistborn is worth a shot, I’ve only read the first one so far but really enjoyed it, it was so interesting and entertaining.
So, my parents are very conservative on what I read. Like, I can't read Harry Potter and Twilight to name a few. I'm really looking for a book that my parents will probably let me read that is also interesting. Do you have any recommendations?
Hello! I hope your parents will agree to a book soon and that you will enjoy it. My mom would not let me read Harry Potter or watch television for a long time as well. Is it the magical element they do not like? I would recommend classics such as Jane Eyre, Rebecca, my cousin Rachel or Anne of Green Gables, or Peter pan or Jane austen novels. I had a bad feeling about classics before but I have rarely been disappointed. Two of my favorite books this year were bitter greens and the wilde girl, both by Kate Forsyth. They are historical novels retelling a fairy tale. The secret history by Donna tartt was great although there is a murder so I don't know if that is also something your parents don't agree with. I wish you the best.
Please don't tell me I'm the only one who still hasn't read The Mistborn Trilogy?!
(it has been on my tbr for SO LONG, but I'm pretty intimidated by it... I really hope to read it soon!)
Basically Britt no Britt! I too still have that on my TBR
TRUST ME once you start reading it you will be IMMEDIATELY HOOKED
I'm currently done with book 1 and is super good. But I'm not sure if I want to keep going or if I should go for the way of king
I have Mistborn sitting on my shelf and it is definitely a contender for my December TBR 🙌 so you’re not the only one 😁
I must say the hype got the hold of me, and when I read, at least, the final empire...I wasn't too impressed. Not because of the worldbuilding, plot and twists...but because I just couldn't feel anything for characters, with some exceptions. I really hated Vin. TLDR; just read it.
PS: Stormlight is better.
Me: *lives in southern hemisphere, where it is going in to summer and progressively getting ridiculously hot*
also Me: *watches a video recommending winter reads because its Regan and I can't not*
oooh i am reading vengeful right now so this is perfect timing!
readwithcindy I love your channel!! 😂😂 You’re too funny!
Where is your sweater from? Love it!!
Elizabeth Croop yes, please tell us about the sweater!
and the earrings? :)
An EXCELLENT story to read during winter for me..."Harry Potter" period.
or well tbh during ANY season! it just makes you feel so much joy:D but the first one in particular during winter;)
My favourite books to read at winter are the narnia series becaue like the vibe of it is more atmospheric in winter
Zery Sarwar besides the lion the witch and the wardrobe which other of the books are remotely winter inspired?
@@JMV1616 they're not winter inspired as such I just find them more enjoyable to read in the winter
Please do all time favourite series video.
Mistborn is perfect for winter. I love that you love Seven Realms because it is not hyped enough.

Haha I just recommended the same book, didn't read the comments before woops. 💪🇫🇷❄
@@SeekingVega haha ! Hope she'll read it !
Literally just finished this book! Also recommend it :)
Thank you for those! Here is a winter recommandation from me: "A Winter's Promise: The Mirror Visitor" by Christelle Dabos :). The beginning is a bit long but it's worth it! ❄
The Mistborn Trilogy is on my Christmas list! Also hoping to get more volumes of Saga, which I have the first volume of and fell in LOVE with!
I definitely need to continue the Mistborn series! I've only read the first book and I DEFINITELY need to continue it before I forget what happens (I don't fancy rereading that beast of a book) 😅
Love your winter reading recommendations. Am now considering to restart a reread of the Mistborn trilogy.
I read Truly Devious this fall and I feel like it's a great fall read, but you could read it any time, really. I cannot wait for the sequel!
I'm dying to re read the mistborn books too. One of my all time favourites!
Love these! I’m reading the second book in Katherine Arden’s Winternight Trilogy right now and it’s perfect for winter ambiance!
Since you are a fan of fantasy book, I highly recommend checking out Erin Hunter books!
Welcome to your first New York winter ❄️ 🌲
Brandon Sanderson's work is AMAZING ! I've never been disapointed by any of his books. The Winternight Trilogy is a MUST-read in winter. The atmosphere is just amazing.
Meanwhile, in Australia ... it's 33 degrees (or 92 in the other one) today!
Yes I loved vicious!!! Can’t wait to read vengeful. It’s definitely on my TBR🤩
I totally recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi for a winter read. I read it last fall for a class and fell in love. I NEED to read Sanderson! I know I'd love his books just based on how you talk about them
Where is your sweater from? I’m obsessed with it!!!
You really really should read Vita Nostra by Martina & Sergey Dyachenko! It is a book that has just been translated into English after it having been a big hit in Ukraine. Love the recs, I have a long drive ahead of me Tuesday hopefully I can find some of these on audiobook for the drive!
My mom has that same outfit in the 80s including the earrings
I have gotten so many good recommendations from you for fantasy books! Just want to send you a shout out! I'm excited to try the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Cima.
The Shining features cold weather, so I'm suggesting that!
it's currently winter in Bangladesh. and me and my sister read a monster calls some days ago and i couldn't help but feel a kinda chilly feeling. it really is a winter read. go ahead everyone and read it😁😁
i think war breaker is a good start too for brandon sanderson
Yesss ive been waiting for this video! Love your seasonal recs!
You have to read the ash princes this winter it is so good
I'm gonna read The last king of Osten Ard next. It's the sequel series to Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams. I read that a month ago and still can't think of starting a different book.

Hey Reagan! Would you be able to list books in your description in the future?
The cover of Vicious reminds me of a macabre Christmas tree.
I haven’t read Truly Devious but I LOVED A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro and it sounds really similar 😊
I love the Seven Realms series
I just started Truly Devious this afternoon. I needed something less intense after reading Bird Box.
i still haven't read vicious and i really want to!
Been binging your videos lately & LOVE EM!! I hope you have a great day & thanks for the recommendations (:
Code name verity is on my shelf..will be a 2019 reading! By the way, thanks Reagan for The Boundless by Kenneth Oppell. You mentioned it in a haul. I read it in October ..loved it!💖😄
I need a 2020 winter vid!!
I got the Mistborn trilogy last year for Christmas, and I still haven’t read it. 😬 I really want to read it though! I don’t know why I do this lol
Hi Regan
Wondering if you had any recommendations of books on historical fiction?
heyy i can recommend you some. for instance all the light we cannot see, salt to the sea, the book thief and the one regan just recommended. code name verity and it's sequel. try these out if you want to😉😉
The Ludwig Conspiracy, The Alienist
I’d recommended All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, Life after Life by Kate Atkinson, and the Commoner by John Burnham Swartz
I also recommend All the Light We Cannot See, lol. Clearly it's a cult favorite. I'd also recommend The Miniaturist!
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys! Winter plays a huge part and is definitely one of my favorite historical fiction books alongside this authors other historical fiction winter book, Salt to the Sea.
i need to read vengeful omg!
Read Cinder and Ella by Kelly Oram. It's as awesome as awesome gets.
Definitely The Reckoners triology by Brandon Sanderson
I would love you to do a new Favorite Historical Fiction Books video !! Last time you did it was like 2 years ago, am I right?
I totally agree Seven Realms is GREAT! But I felt the first series was so much better than the second, i feel the characters have more depth. I'd love to know more fantasy series that I should read! I'm already aboard with Chima and Sanderson, and Schwab, and I'm going to try and catch up with Clare, are there any others that are musts?
I'm currently reading the Lightbringer series and I'm hooked. Regan mentioned it in a previous recommendation video and I totally understand why
Ugh I really need to read Vicious and Vengeful 😭
Me too! I'm boycotting the cover change I loved the original.
Is it ok to read the Shattered Realms series before the Seven Realms series?❤️
Please do a reading vlog for mistborn if you reread 😍
You need to read The Queen of Innis Lear
I love your jumper very nice.
I read Truly Devious in October and gave it 4 stars.
I highly recommend the Amber Series by Roger Zelazny.
PLEASE DO A NEW FAVORITE SERIES VIDEOOOOO
You should read Malice by John Gwynne and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman!
Sydney Ellison yesssss Malice! I’m on the 4th book
what means YA Fantasy story, i am not good in english
Girl, if you thought Chicago winter was going to be bad.... 😂🥶
What to do if there's no winter ?
Why do you need to read The Seven realms before Flamecaster? I read Shattered Realms series & didn’t feel like I missed anything but I’m not sure now?! Is it worth it to go back & read Seven Realms after Shattered Realms?
Before the end of the year TBR?
Hey regan i just started reading The way of kings and im liking it so far and i was wondering if u will do a review on it!?
Hey have u heard of the witcher series?
regan can u please make a video/reply to my comment . what book do u think should I begin for Brandon Sanderson's series?
I've read Steelheart and I thought it was kind of a let down. Are Brandon Sanderson's other books similar, or are they different enough that I might like them even though I wasn't a fan of Steelheart?
unlinedwork I haven’t read Steelheart so cant speak in reference to it but I definitely think Mistborn is worth a shot, I’ve only read the first one so far but really enjoyed it, it was so interesting and entertaining.
Nice book recommendations
Amazing video! Sooooo good!
I think it would be better if you list name of the books with author names on the description.
My favourite winter recs are the shining by Stephen king and the child finder by renee denfield. Check it out ;)
So, my parents are very conservative on what I read. Like, I can't read Harry Potter and Twilight to name a few. I'm really looking for a book that my parents will probably let me read that is also interesting. Do you have any recommendations?

I have so many books on my tbr omg I shouldn‘t have watched this 🙃😅😘

LINDA .🌹
Welp, it's nowhere near winter in Australia but I'll still be living for the seasonal videos 😍
OML first comment and first view!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
These videos are deadly to me TBH because now I have too many books on my must-read list...
Ugh so mad you said evil won etc in final empire. Kinda ruined it for me since I knew nothing about it and wanted to read it
Well... There's so much more to the storie, and that's something you'll know since the very beginning so... :)
3 comments saying they're the first 😂
EAZ RH 3 comments revealing themselves as idiots
Hi I just started my book vlog. I need support...
Vicious is Ah-mazing!!!!! Vengeful was not
And because you recommended these books. Better head off to the bookstore.
i am first view first comment :D
