The detention scene in the first episode is literally the best scene in TV history, pissing in classroom, rifling thru a dead nun’s purse, eating a dead nun’s sandwich, sneaking out the window, playing with the dead nun’s body😂 omfg genius!
I don’t think I’ve laughed harder than when I watched that scene. Or when Mary realizes she might have forgotten her punt purse in episode 5… I wept from the laughter 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Have watched the detention scene many times……..perfect storm of hilarity
The followup scene just adds icing to the cake.
"So we're killing nuns now are we? Wait till your mother hears of this."
If she’s anything like me and my family, she’s trying to talk at 30% of her usual speed just to help Stephen out.
I grew up on British television in Canada and I'm pretty good with Brits (Irish/Welsh/Scots/various English) talking at normal speed, but yeah, she's trying to slow it down. I find a lot of more experienced actors and actresses have an accent for home and an accent for America. With Welsh people, it seems more prominent. They sound almost London RP in America, but back home, they're back to Welsh. Anthony Hopkins is a good example at times. You basically have to, or a lot of Americans won't understand a word you're saying. Or their accent just becomes more mid Atlantic over time because they do so much work for American audiences. John Barrowman is Scottish, but a lot of the time he speaks with a standard American accent because he does a lot of work in the US.
She’s always so entertaining. A wonderful story teller. She was so so so brilliant in Derry Girls. Looking forward to seeing Decameron.
She was absolutely incredible in this role. Her acting range is phenomenal
She's dialing back her accent so much - but she's hilarious, her comedic timing is everything 😂 her storytelling skills are ON POINT
She is so charming. I was watching "Derry Girls", last week wondering if she was in anything else. Now I have a new show to watch .
Her mom howling with laughter at the end, as only a mortified mother/daughter can 🤣
Derry Girls is one of my favorites. When I saw that Sthephen was interviewing Jackson, I clicked right away. Everyone in Derry Girls was brilliant and I can't wait to see Jackson in Decameron. (Oh, and her Mom was terrific, too! A very talented dancer, it appears. Go, Mom!! 🎉. Hee hee...)
Colbert finally landed a guest with personality.
Love you Soairse and Ma dancing and laughing from beginning to end 😂❤️🩹💐
She is so funny!! I’m so glad she’s getting more attention here in the states! Derry Girls is a must watch.
she's so lovable and charismatic that I'm determined to watch the series now! She seems a lovely person.❤️
She's the type of girl everyone would want as their BFF. Adorable, great sense of humor, and the BEST laugh!!
Saiorse is an invenntive, sophisticated, engaging storyteller and therefore a talented comedic actor and therefore excellent all round actor. . . Can you tell I’m favorably impressed?(!!)
'The man flashed me...his police badge'
Whatever she does next, I hope it's in stand-up!
Her mum howling up at the back at the end 😂😂😂😂
Her mom at the end 💚
Saoirse I could listen to your stories all day girl 😂❤
You were absolutely brilliant in the Decameron!!!
Love from Australia 🇦🇺
I agree. I found this series to be strangely fantastic. It's such a simple fun watch and really funny. Though some sad parts regarding some characters fates. Really sad it's over, I hope they can make a spin off or as the director mentioned, perhaps an anthology series and maybe some of the survivors can make an appearance or cameo in that too. 👍👍
As a Derry girl who grew up through the troubles, I love Derry Girls. It's so funny and so poignant and totally portrays those times. It shows the strength of character, resilience and the unique sense of humour that have always been part of the Derry people through all the madness and sadness that we've been through. Thank God, from a place where nobody wanted to visit, Derry has transformed into a wee tourist hub for people from all over the world. Derry Girls has definitely contributed to that! It's a lovely city, steeped in history but the thing visitors always talk about (apart from the weather 🌨️🙄 is the warmth of the people. Thank you to Lisa Magee and all involved. 🙏☘️
She has the best facial expressions in everything
I live in Belize and I love her so much. Derry Girls is the best thing ever, I have watched it at least 3 times already and ever time I watch it it gets even more funnier.
She must be so relieved she doesn’t have to talk about her first name for half the interview
Saoirse Ronan took care of the name pronunciation issue the night Stephen had her on The Late Show! I remember Saoirse going through the "You know, Saoirse like Inertia" multiple times that evening. It was a hoot! Ronan was also wonderful, talented and Fun!! Maybe it is a prerequisite to prove before you can give your child that name?!! (They are both such amazing young women, each in her own way!!)
@elizabethhiebert1859 Except Ronan dumbed down her name for American audiences- it’s ‘Seer-sha’ as Stephen pronounced it here not ‘Sur-sha like inertia’. Irish people have been saying this since Ronan came on the scene. At the same time it’s her name so she can do what she wants lol.
@@hoover728 OOHHHHhhh!! WOW!!
Thank you for telling me this! I had no idea!! Although I am American, I love the musicality and nuance of different words in different languages. I get annoyed that a certain percentage of Americans (unfortunately larger than I would like) seem to not even try to properly pronounce people's names correctly. Too often they seem to almost immediately gag on the different name/ word and then butcher it. While I certainly have butchered names / words from other languages, I keep trying to get it. I admire the folks that I am speaking with in their continued willingness to say their name/ the word slowly for me so I can try to get the sounds and mouth movements right. There is so much beauty in other languages. Woops!! Sorry I'm rambling. Again, my thanks!
Best to all!!
Love watching Derry Girls with my daughter 💖 Very happy for its success 🥰
I just had a complete fangirl moment when I realized Saoirse would be on the show. Derry Girls is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen
I absolutely love this actor! She is so full of vitality and joy! Derry Girls was amazing. I hope she goes far!
She is delightful. In every way. In every single way. I could listen to her talk about literally anything.
What a charming person. She is a good storyteller too.
Thank you for this interview. I adore Saoirse.
Jackson never disappoints
As a Derry Girls fan I'm so happy for her new series. As an Italian, I am terrified of what Netflix did with The Decameron.
Not Italian but Belgian, and same. We had to read the translated ‘Decamerone’ in school.
Decameron is awful,it’s like a lot of actors sitting around London trying to be hilarious,no sense of Italy or Italian humour, better stick to 1970s Italian movie version by Pasolini which captures the earthiness of the original story
Yes Saoirse!! 🥳🥳🥳 So excited she’s on the show and working in even bigger projects! She’s so wonderfully talented, and such a delight! And my god, she’s just gorgeous!!! ♥️ from 🇨🇦
She is such a great communicator!
She's wonderful, and I always find it so charming when really successful people who I have seen be totally breezy, comfortable, and hilarious in many other social and professional settings still get obviously nervous in another, like this one.
she is hilarious in derry girls. if you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!!! this show is such a gem and deserved a 4th season.
Well it seems Stephen invited her "specifically" to be a guest on his show. Hopefully no nuns died for her to make it to the show on time.
Charming, delightful, sunshine. Best wishes, young lady.🌞🤸🏾♂️🫶🏻🖖🏼
What a fun gal!!! And to think I've never seen Derry Girls. Looks I got some binge watching to do this weekend. 😁😁😁
You won't regret it. Subtitles might be helpful at first, though many people just replay bits over and over to make sure they didn't miss anything besides the dialogue.
Could not LOVE Saoirse-Monica Jackson more!
Stephen was blushing the whole time..I think he fancied the little lady.... in a sweet way....
What a delightful and charismatic guest!
omg love her! so hilarious as erin on derry girls, can't wait to check out her new show!
How refreshingly delightful…very different. 😊
She's a bloody superstar. So funny, so genuine and absolutely lovely. (Although I am very biased as Erin was the Derry Girl I most related to !)
Saoirse-Monica such a great personality, beautiful woman in every way!
I love her and the show. I also love the city of Derry. A segment of their museum is dedicated to the show Derry Girls
She is SO charming, but honestly that outfit alone made it worth watching.
I had such envy of her cool duds! Kind of reminds me of some of my 90's designs. Oh to be 25 again!

What is "weird" about a man liking to see a very attractive woman in a sexy outfit? Do you think she didn't KNOW how men would naturally react to that?
I don't know why normal attraction is considered "creepy". I envy her. I got a small taste of this in my twenties. My boss, who owned an RV dealership rented me a really nice tux and had me be like the spokesmodel for his top of the line RV at a trade show. I was pleasantly shocked to find myself the object of female desire (even if mostly women older than me). I ENJOYED it when a woman would look me up and down and say something like, "Tell your boss I'll write a check right now if he throws you in on the deal."
Looks are not everything but it is nice to find out that people do find you really attractive - a lot more in my case than I thought they would.
@@pdoylemi Hahaha... I get it. I would have a huge girl crush on her if I wasn't twice her age. I would feel like a pedo if I did!
Jackson never disappoints us
Brilliant, I'd say Stephen hadn't a clue, loved the Grandad story
She could have kept going with cute stories. Lovely guest. Never thought they would turn Boccacio's work into a Netflix series. Let's see how it is.
She killed it best performance in the show😍😍😍😍
Bahahahaha! I cackled so hard all on my lonesome when she said her grandpa said her show nothing like game of thrones! 🤣
Oh my goodness, her mama is so cute dancing in the audience like that! 🥰😂
My mum saw her in M&S in Liverpool! Lovely person
Lmao… she’s hilarious.
She is so beautiful and delightful 🥰👏🏼I could hear her talk forever
Can’t get enough Derry Girls!
What a great storyteller !!
Love her forever because of Derry Girls 🙌🏻
Wonderful, Wonderful. Saoirse is a interviewers delight. ❤
Awww such a joy to see her shine! Finally now I know how to pronounce that name.
This outfit is AMAZING! ❤
“Look at the state of you…”
She's so gorgeous and I love that accent. One of my favourite shows!
I just finished the Decameron. I found this series to be strangely fantastic. It's such a simple fun watch and really funny. Though some sad parts regarding some characters fates. Really sad it's over, I hope they can make a spin off or as the director mentioned, perhaps an anthology series and maybe some of the survivors can make an appearance or cameo in that too.👍👍
Also, I guess I might have to check out her Derry Girls show now too.
Why am I so in love with her?!?!?!
She always makes me chuckle
She's hilarious! New fans here.
The Cubbyhole is a lesbian bar in NYC 🏳️🌈
Brilliant personality, I wish her all the success. At the risk of sounding negative...it always feels as though American hosts are inept at going toe to toe with non-American guests. But British hosts can do it all.
She’s so funny. Love her.
I love the idea that the size of your family is dependent on their behavior! 😂😂😂
About to watch Derry girl which I’ve never seen but I now love her and her storytelling 😊
I see one of my derry girls, and I am seated... she is so flicking talented
And Ireland officially becomes the world's leading exporter of delightful Saiorses.
Love her for slowing down her speech so that we Americans can understand. 😂 Love her so! ❤
I clicked this curious expecting Bocaccio talk but this was fantastic
She's so funny! Such a great story teller!
Conan's talked about those Irish "notions" as well. No one out there cares if you're rich and famous.
Having notions is the worst social heresy you can commit in Ireland.
Saoirse is excruciatingly lovely and charming!!
Derry Girls is fantastic
Loved her voice impressions of her own family. Difficult to understand, but hilarious 😂
Omg I love seeing my Derry Girls’ careers thrive! Yay Saoirse! 💚
We love saorise-monica jackson and stephen colbert
she's a delight
my goodness, she is ADORABLE!!!!
Love this woman
Never heard of her, but figured with a name like Saoirse, she was probably going to be quite the entertaining character, and she didn't disappoint!
Awe her Moms delighted! 🥰😊
"Decameron" sounds like the name Cameron wants to be called after changing middle schools.
‘Decamerone’ is classic literature. One of the most famous medieval books, with stories about people fleeing the plague in the 14th century. It’s Italian and it means ‘10 days’. It’s about a group of young people ‘self isolating’ together in the hills outside the city of Florence.
Such a great series! Bravo ❤ brilliant hilarious
She’s adorbs. LOVED Derry Girls so much and will definitely watch Decameron :)
It’s cool to Steven get to take a vacation. Up Derry!
Love the shoes, outfit and accent…. Fab
Met someone from Belfast a few years ago, before the pandemic. He says to me that school for him wasn't about education, it was about being inside to avoid the bombs.
Then I stumbled onto the Derry Girls and slowly began to understand. I will never fully understand, but Derry Girls was an absolute delight.
She has great comedic timeing, love Derrygirls❤❤❤
She's annunciating so carefully. Bless her!
Haha first thing I noticed! So good
Enunciating.
Making sure we Americans can understand lol
I’m Irish & I can barely understand her 🤷
annunciate is sometimes confused with enunciate
