---- What's ASMR, and why am I whispering? ----
I whisper in my videos because they're intended to trigger a sensation called ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). ASMR is a specific feeling that some people experience when they hear certain soft sounds, like whispering and tapping, or see certain visuals, like deliberate hand motions. It's often described as a pleasant tingling in the head and neck, accompanied by a sense of calmness and mild euphoria. Many people watch ASMR videos to help them relax or fall asleep. I never leave comments, but I felt compelled to after this video. Absolutely beautiful game! I find 'under the sea' type things very relaxing anyway, but this was just fantastic. Can't wait to see another video on this game! Watching your wanders through skyrim is part of my one year olds bed time routine, you seem to just calm him right down, and he didn't make it five minutes into this video. Keep up the great work, I'm sure im not the only mother thanking you for it :p

Abzu was a good time killer. It was no Journey, of course, but it was beautiful and the music was relaxing, and the past me who wanted to be a marine biologist when I grew up enjoyed seeing and learning about so many varieties of sea life. The prehistoric level was particularly fascinating. My son, when he was around 4 or 5 months, really enjoyed watching me play it too. :)
I thought the meditation feature in each level was a really neat touch as well. Being able to flip through each species and have it identified was educational and zen like.

Absolutely! You can tell they put in a lot of care and attention to detail. I've played quite a bit of Subnautica, but imo it's nowhere near as magical under the water like Abzu is!
I have Subnautica too, and it's pretty neat, but I agree that ABZU is much prettier. It's more about the experience, whereas Subnautica is very much a survival game.

Journey is another good one and it was made by some of the same developers prior to ABZU.

I'd really much like to see more of this game. It has some beautiful vistas and amazing soundtrack.
By the way. Just for a hint: The boost button... You can use it three times in a row and every time our hero accelerates a bit more. You can do some beautiful jump out of the water with this knowledge. Also, every creature you can ride on; you can control as well. And as you guessed it, you can do some cool jump as a combo.

I'm currently completing my undergrad in biology and have a love for science much like yourself. I really enjoyed your last lab video and would gladly welcome another video of the sorts. Maybe even some more theory based ramblings, etc. Anyways, keep up the good work!
Thanks man! I've been wanting to put out more science-related content on the channel for a long time now, and I've resolved to make it a priority in 2017. Lab videos are pretty tricky because it's hard to find time when the lab is empty/quiet, but I've been slowly putting together a few "lesson plans" for education science vids that I'd like to do. I don't know exactly when I'll get around to filming them, but hopefully soon. Thanks again, and good luck with your degree!

Absolutely incredible game. If in anyway you think you might enjoy it i urge you to pause the video go and pick this game up and play through it.
Alot of games out there have memorable moments in them but this is the only game i have ever played were every single moment was one of beauty and emotion that truly had an impact. Hell with valentines day coming up you might consider buying this for a special someone in your life. Couldn't recommend this game more.

This is so beautiful! Watched my way through all your Skyrim wanders, then tried this out of curiosity and it's even more beautiful! Still not sure about the ASMR thing but this does help me wind down before I go to sleep at night. Your commentary is soothing, contributes instead of taking away from the experience. Just wish I could've heard the music a little better, too.
Glad you liked it! Agreed, this game is lovely and so chill. As for the music, I try to walk a fine line between it being just audible, but totally unobtrusive, since some people say it disrupts their ASMR. It's a beautiful score to be sure :)
Ahhh, I just recently learned about this whole ASMR phenomenon and I don't think I get whatever tingly... thing I'm supposed to get out of it? It's just kind of relaxing. I can kind of see where somebody who listens to it for the whispering sound might find the music a distraction, though.
You're not alone, there are tons of people who don't get ASMR but watch these videos just for conventional relaxation. For me, it's a fine balance of trying to make something that will serve to relax everybody :)

Having now had time to watch it... This game is beyond words. Like you said, the visuals and music are flawless together. I can't even describe how much I love this video. It touched something in my heart that I can't put a name to. Simply stunning.

Haha awesome! The soundtrack perfectly compliments the visuals, and vise versa. I will very likely pick it up myself :). Austin Wintory is a top-notch composer; he also also composed Journey and The Banner Saga, and worked on the last Assassin's Creed.
