I really hope that they don't do that but I can see why because why would you want to have a creature based off the affects of WW2 to then be seen in future funner films. Godzilla needs to claim his symbol with damaging it and I only see that being possible if there's two of him.

My expectations and hype for "Godzilla Zero" are high right now. Yamazaki is a great director who has an eye for precision, detail and heart, in his visual story telling ("The Great War Of Archimedes" was proof of that). He also has an eye on the scale and spectacle side of things ("Space Battleship: Yamato" had all that and more). Thank you for this update/report and summary, D-Man. It answered at the very least, some the questions I had since information on this movie after they revealed the graphic for it, was sparse and let's face it, sketchy and rumour-filled. Toho have kept the project under tight wraps and maybe, that's not such a bad thing after all. I like it when a film offers surprises and twists that I didn't anticipate.
Yeah, when I look at pictures of singular point Godzilla and the 1954 redesign that you are showing in this video looks almost like a spitting image of the singular point Godzilla, with some minor differences the way it has, its hands downwards in between its legs with its wide leg stance and its overall shape is almost on point with singular point

I'm expecting a big american push for this one with releases merchandise ect. Since they are planning a big online store and push for the western audience with Godzilla and Anime. They brought in an outside team from Crunchyroll to work on it. A very different approach to how Toho did things in the past. I imagine it will be like the western Ultraman push.
New Godzilla movies are in desperate need to bring back Anguirus, Baragon and Varan, maybe as a trio teammates, a shared universe and in more appearances, and in a remake of Destroy All Monsters. Also we need more hand to hand combat and natural defenses, less firepower like the Heisei era. Also would like the Gargantuas, Manda, Titanosaurus, Gorosaurus returns, more of the dinosaurian kaiju. This is the way.
Hey little bro. Hope you're well. I was in Tokyo last November and I went to the Godzilla the ride and it was awesome. I got to ride with with none other than Matt Frank. Unfortunately that re-equal thing to Godzilla the ride wasn't a ride at all. It was a scavenger hut that involved puzzle solving and math problem solving and. stuff. It wasn't fun. Matt Frank was also there with Manga Artist Hiroshi Kanatani. They were trying to complete the mission but gave up halfway. Just wanted to inform you. Take care.
Hopefully they'll have an extended scene of a monster smashing up a city and people panicking. It's what the old Godzilla films always had but 4 movies in and the Monsterverse still hasn't had it.

I'm looking forward to what Toho puts out, though I'm getting my hopes super high, because I haven't been a fan of the most recent Toho Godzilla projects (Shin Godzilla and both animes) However I hope this time around I'll be able to get into what they're creating. I'm glad they're going GCI this time around, hopefully we'll be able to see Godzilla have a bit more mobility. And looking at both designs of Always sunny and the theme park ride, I think we might be in good hands as far as the design. I'm hoping the director keeps the approach of a simplistic different, but familiar, design for Godzilla. For Shin and the anime's they've gone with drastically different Godzilla designs, so hopefully they keep it simple this time around. I couldn't agree more on all points. Godzilla doesn't need to be completely reinvented with every new film. While I liked some things about Shin, I hated both anime series.
What I'm hoping for in Godzilla Zero: - Toho uses new sound effects instead of reusing old ones. They have always done this with Godzilla in modern projects and it feels like we're stuck on the past. They have the ability to make better sounds, especially with the roars like when Godzilla Earth roared at Void Ghidorah when he first arrived. - There WON'T be two Godzillas because it would be confusing as to why there are two, even though we're having monsters based on real life events - Godzilla will have a new design similar to The Ride one because I loved that design. More only issues with it is that his teeth are too far apart and he doesn't have two rows of them. Also his plates a little too thin and I would like if they had the white bone sticking out of it because we need more colors.
Perfect modern Godzilla design. I always prefer Godzilla vs us rather than a monster of the week so I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefully with a more horror lean too

How cool would it be if Godzilla Zero was the “Iron Man” of a new Tohoverse. They could remake/reimagine the og Mothra and Rodan films. This universe could have all the classic monsters and really be a less campy version of the Hesei era

If there were to be a film with 2 Godzillas in it, I would love to see Monsterverse Godzilla fight a version of Toho's Godzilla maybe a complete new design and version of Godzilla by Toho or an already existing one. I don't know how it would work out, but it will still be a cool movie to see imo. Godzilla by the original creators vs Modern Godzilla by Legendary sounds like a film that will not only make a lot of money, but make history as well.
Hopefully the new Godzilla(s) won't be unemotional statues like Shin Godzilla, polygon, and Ultima. Toho nowadays is making their kaiju not have personality

I see Godzilla in that poster very differently than most, apparently. I see his head pointing inward and slightly down with the tip of his tail in the background behind his head. The curve of the g is another reference to the tail, but not his actual tail. The single back spine and head that everyone else sees looks like the fallen remnants of Tokyo tower to me.

This is assuming "Ken" is the word translated as fist, which can mean technique, as in martial arts technique, why it is used in so many fictional moves: Kaio-Ken, Haduken, Shoryuken etc.

There's been a lot of Godzilla movies with two Godzillas, 8 so far featuring two living ones, and then you can throw two more in if you count Kiryu or the newly filmed footage of the 1st generation Godzilla. Most of those feature an adult and a juvenile, but Destroyah has the juvenile grow abnormally at the end, and Planet of the Monsters features two adults. I'm, uh... surprised you didn't know this.
I love the idea of the 2 monsters! Godzilla vs Gojira, will it be a good versus bad like The War of the Gargantuas? Or They ward off the normal G and 2 years later fight the nuked version and lose? Glad it's not sounding like a straight remake of the OG.

All this sounds great. I hope the design borrows heavily from the 54 even if it was a loose precursor to the 54 film. People have done 54 concept art and figures that look super freaky, sometimes blending the puppet with the suit designs. That would be awesome and dark.. kind of like that thing at 21:00 😂. The big dorsal plate/fin/spine sounds very strange but I thought shin Godzilla looked pretty strange at first and now it’s one of my favorite designs.
When the character Godzilla was first created, the setting was Dinosaurs that had survived unbeknownst to people were exposed to American hydrogen bomb tests, and he were transformed into monsters that exhale atomic breath. Godzilla-1.0 is a work that goes back to that initial setting. So, Godzilla is both a symbol of war and nuclear weapons, and at the same time he is war/nuclear victim (as a result of being involved in a hydrogen bomb test, he transformed into monster regardless of the his intention). Godzilla in this film, when he exhales atomic breath, his own mouth and face is burned. It looks like he is suffering by having uncontrolled violent energy. Because he survived the hydrogen bomb test, he transformed monster, and he has too much uncontrollable energy. It's painful even when he’s alive. He was angry at human, and also he may have been looking for a place to die. He is a threat that people must overcome, and it is also a test for regaining the meaning of life left behind in war. In the sense, Godzilla sank into the sea holding remorse and pain caused by the war. What's important is that Godzilla isn't completely evil. He is also one character whose life was derailed by war. Instead of dividing it into two simple colors of evil and justice, they are appealing how disastrous and meaningless war is. Negative emotional chains sometimes lead to explosive violence. Godzilla's Atomic Breath is expressed by a nuclear chain reaction. And all that is left after violence is emptiness, and no one can be saved. There's just an endless chain of negativity waiting. The main character, Shikishima, didn't forget his kindness. But Godzilla was different. A victim of the hydrogen bomb test became a the perpetrator who hurt himself and his surroundings due to being drunk in anger, and finally defeated.
After hearing one of your story pitches with potential monsterverse movies. I would be in support of you being a film maker giving pitches to toho you tell pretty well balance good story pitches. I feel that what so many movie studios nowadays should do be open minded and take risks with suggested potential story pitches rather than constantly stay safe with showing already exisiting story telling

In continuity theres always been 2 or 3 godzillas. The original that waa killed by the oxygen destroyer while the other was evil but became good. Then there's usually a child. Im glad if the rumor is true we'll see both in one movie

If there were to be a film with 2 Godzillas in it, I would love to see Monsterverse Godzilla fight a version of Toho's Godzilla maybe a complete new design and version of Godzilla by Toho or an already existing one. I don't know how it would work out, but it will still be a cool movie to see imo. Godzilla by the original creators vs Modern Godzilla by Legendary sounds like a film that will not only make a lot of money, but make history as well.

I see Godzilla in that poster very differently than most, apparently. I see his head pointing inward and slightly down with the tip of his tail in the background behind his head. The curve of the g is another reference to the tail, but not his actual tail. The single back spine and head that everyone else sees looks like the fallen remnants of Tokyo tower to me.

This is assuming "Ken" is the word translated as fist, which can mean technique, as in martial arts technique, why it is used in so many fictional moves: Kaio-Ken, Haduken, Shoryuken etc.

There's been a lot of Godzilla movies with two Godzillas, 8 so far featuring two living ones, and then you can throw two more in if you count Kiryu or the newly filmed footage of the 1st generation Godzilla. Most of those feature an adult and a juvenile, but Destroyah has the juvenile grow abnormally at the end, and Planet of the Monsters features two adults. I'm, uh... surprised you didn't know this.
I love the idea of the 2 monsters! Godzilla vs Gojira, will it be a good versus bad like The War of the Gargantuas? Or They ward off the normal G and 2 years later fight the nuked version and lose? Glad it's not sounding like a straight remake of the OG.

@@Kaijuman900 every godzilla in the reiwa era acted like animals, the problem was their animalistic personalities are so basic and can be summarized as *"they mind their own business til they're attacked or feel territorial"* and it doesn't make it better they have zero face expressions to aline with their basic personalities. MV acts like a animal but he has shown alot more intelligence and face expressions to add more personality to him than anything the reiwa era has given us

All this sounds great. I hope the design borrows heavily from the 54 even if it was a loose precursor to the 54 film. People have done 54 concept art and figures that look super freaky, sometimes blending the puppet with the suit designs. That would be awesome and dark.. kind of like that thing at 21:00 😂. The big dorsal plate/fin/spine sounds very strange but I thought shin Godzilla looked pretty strange at first and now it’s one of my favorite designs.
When the character Godzilla was first created, the setting was Dinosaurs that had survived unbeknownst to people were exposed to American hydrogen bomb tests, and he were transformed into monsters that exhale atomic breath.
Godzilla-1.0 is a work that goes back to that initial setting. So, Godzilla is both a symbol of war and nuclear weapons, and at the same time he is war/nuclear victim (as a result of being involved in a hydrogen bomb test, he transformed into monster regardless of the his intention).
Godzilla in this film, when he exhales atomic breath, his own mouth and face is burned. It looks like he is suffering by having uncontrolled violent energy. Because he survived the hydrogen bomb test, he transformed monster, and he has too much uncontrollable energy. It's painful even when he’s alive. He was angry at human, and also he may have been looking for a place to die.
He is a threat that people must overcome, and it is also a test for regaining the meaning of life left behind in war. In the sense, Godzilla sank into the sea holding remorse and pain caused by the war.
What's important is that Godzilla isn't completely evil. He is also one character whose life was derailed by war. Instead of dividing it into two simple colors of evil and justice, they are appealing how disastrous and meaningless war is. Negative emotional chains sometimes lead to explosive violence. Godzilla's Atomic Breath is expressed by a nuclear chain reaction. And all that is left after violence is emptiness, and no one can be saved. There's just an endless chain of negativity waiting. The main character, Shikishima, didn't forget his kindness. But Godzilla was different. A victim of the hydrogen bomb test became a the perpetrator who hurt himself and his surroundings due to being drunk in anger, and finally defeated.
After hearing one of your story pitches with potential monsterverse movies. I would be in support of you being a film maker giving pitches to toho you tell pretty well balance good story pitches. I feel that what so many movie studios nowadays should do be open minded and take risks with suggested potential story pitches rather than constantly stay safe with showing already exisiting story telling
