They were just like family from 3 generation of the G . Haruo being Grandfather, Kenpachiro being father and Tsutomo being the Son. How coincidence, giving their look and age
Grandpa founded it and made it a job with unbreakable work ethic. Father restored the artistic dignity of it because grandpa was so focused on earning enough and son just keeps the craft alive combining it with modern techniques.
Fun Fact: Kenpachiro Satsuma was kidnapped by the North Korean government once to act as the kaiju in an obscure North Korean monster film known as Pulgasari.

I read that Haruo Nakajima lost between 15 to 20lbs during every shoot while wearing the Godzilla suit due to how heavy and hot it was. Someone needs to put me in one of those things because I need to shed some weight, myself. 😆

Funny how when Haruo talks about going to the zoo to study animals it was the first time I ever considered that and how Godzilla moves a lot like a bear and sure enough, the next thing he talks about it bears.
Awesome men, im so glad they could all meet. What they took part in creating is timeless and will without a doubt be remade and iterated upon to be enjoyed for generations more. And people will always come back to see the original.
@@jjamv9373 Good point. I remember seeing a short documentary on the making of "jack the giant slayer". The actors playing the giants wore mono-colored clothes that were then covered with a lot of tiny electronic sensors that enabled the cgi effects.
I think it has less to do with cgi and more with the fact how limited suitmation is, you have to make the suit adjusted to human body, so you can't make it too diverse in shapes and movements can look stiff due to limitations. However I don't think the art is dead, cgi just makes things a bit easier and more organic.
I am of the old school "Gojira", and all three gentlemen played a huge role in my life since I was only 3 or 4 years old the first time I ever watched the 1954 "Godzilla - King Of The Monsters". From the mid to late 1960's to today, I have loved all of these wonderful & fun TOHO movies, including "Destroy All Monsters" which is pretty much a montage of all the monster movies made up to that point. Kenpachiro Satsuma played a big part of all that, and was always my favorite "Gojira" actor. He seemed to add his own special touch to the role. And, every fan of these movies is grieving his loss. God speed, Kenpachiro Satsuma. May Gojira keep watch over, and protect you.

There are still sort of suit actors in a way with motion capture, while not entirely the same thing, you could say they’re putting on a “digital suit”
