@@cellelcelina Not sure if you are familiar with Ateez, but Joohoney and I.M I feel like are kinda similar to Hongjoong and Mingi, one has interesting rap flows and is generally regarded as the better rapper (even though both are great), but then the other has a really deep and good voice that fits so well after the first one. IDK I just feel like it's a good comparison

Omg I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED FOR THIS REACTION YOU CAN'T IMAGINE monsta x were the first group which got me into kpop in 2018. They've debuted in 2015 with a group of 7 members:
- Shownu (their leader, vocalist and main dancer; he's not in this comeback because he's serving in military at the moment)
- Minhyuk (vocalist and visual)
- Kihyun (main vocalist, he has 2 mini albums and a lot of good covers posted on the monsta x's channel)
- Hyungwon (lead dancer, vocalist, visual and the center of the group; he, sometimes, produces their songs)
- Joohoney (main rapper, vocalist and one of their main producers)
- I.M or ChangKyun (rapper, vocalist, maknae of the group; also produces some songs)
- Wonho (left the group in 2019 and is a soloist now; he's an ace, honestly, he's a vocalist, a dancer and a producer, as well. His solo music is really good, but he doesn't rap)
They have a lot of AMAZING songs and albums. I honestly don't know which one to recommend to you because I have a playlist with 122 of their songs + 2 separate playlists for Joohoney's music (he has a few mixtapes released) and I.M's music (he also has an album and a few singles posted)... I hope other monbebes (monsta x's fans) will help me in the comments if I forgot to mention something...

Just wanted to add, that usually Joohoney and I.M produce the songs together with other producers. Sometimes they only write lyrics.
My introduction to Monsta X in 2019 due to Shoot Out cause that song is known for it choreography but im not one of the MONBEBE that time, n then in 2020 i checked their English album and it was good plus i love to stan underrated groups ,just like WINNER (my first ult group),i got into Monsta X because of Shownu in running man🤭 then i followed Monsta X journey,watched their No Mercy, controversial that time and as a kpop fan, its our duty to support of fav during their hard time and it made me became their fan

The rappers write a lot of the music.. Joohoney ( second rapper in the song) does a lot of the writing and composing,he is in the top ten of Kpop idols with the most song credits with 146.. first rapper I.M has 119 song credits but all the vocalists also contribute..
Monsta X has 6 members Joohoney, I.M., Kihyun, Minhyuk, Hyungwon and Shownu who currently finishing his mandatory military service.. they are seriously underrated Kihyuns vocals are some of the best in Kpop

Three members of Monsta X write songs for the group but this isn't one of them (except for the lyrics I believe). Their songs are a bit more on the mature side & they have also released 2 full English albums (All About Luv & the Dreaming) which I recommend. Songs to check out next: Stuck, Rush Hour, Gambler, Love Killa & the rap duo's song Sambakja which they have performed in concerts. Fun fact Ateez are big Monsta X fans.

Thank you for reacting to Monsta X! Monsta X debut in 2015 so they are a 3rd gen group. Their discography is sonically different because they take genres and experiment with them, then put their own stamp on it. Every album has a little bit of everything in it so it never gets boring with them. So I hope you listen and deep dive into them bc I believe you will enjoy it. I'll leave the Monsta X group recommendations to others. I'm gonna suggest some of Joohoney's solo work. Intro (Ambition), Psyche and Dark & Cloudy are some of my favourite Korean rap tracks and I'm sure they'd be right up your alley!

So the first guy who rapped is I.M and the second one is Joohoney. Both monsters (no pun intended) as rappers , especially when they rap back and forth between each other. Joohoney is quite bad ass as soon as he starts to rap, but he also has a completely different side. A cute one.
-They are considered 3rd gen.
-Originally 7 members but Wonhoo had to leave the group
-One member is doing his military service, thats why you will see only 5 of them in this one.
-I remember people calling them the beastly boy group of 3rd gen....2PM (SKZ seniors in JYP) were known as the manliest kpop group in the 2nd gen and Monsta X is the closest to that. (probably not really an important info but well xD)
-The rap duo is probably the best in 3rd gen but overall one of the best. (In my opinion these two, Changbin and Han and also Mark and Taeyong from NCT are the best rap duos right now - they work together very well).
So for the next reaction I would suggest Rush Hour, Gambler and maybe Shootout.
Monsta X was my favorite Kpop group before I discovered Stray Kids and NCT (and I still love them very much). SKZ and NCT are tied for #1 faves, then Ateez and Monsta X tied for the #2 spot. They do write and produce quite a lot of their music. Every member is an excellent vocalist, including the rappers. The first rapper is I.M and the other rapper is Joohoney. The guy on the horse is Hyungwon, the flawless skin guy is Kihyun, and the guy at the very end on the ground is Minhyuk. They do have themed albums but not an overall lore the way some other groups do. They are quite rap heavy in most of their Korean albums (with gorgeous vocals mixed in). Their English albums have a very different sound from their Korean albums and are sung in 100% English.
Joohoney has often been brought in as a rap judge/advisor for many of the music based variety shows in Korea. All of the members have had modeling contracts in addition to being members of Monsta X. Hyungwon is also an actor. A majority of their Korean tracks will likely suit your tastes. Gambler is my favorite track from them and has an excellent MV. The dance from that song became very popular. Rush Hour, Alligator, Love Killa, Shoot Out, Dramarama, Fantasia, Hero (rooftop version) are a few examples to choose from. They have been around since 2015 so they have a lot of material. Yes more Monsta X please! They are a 6 member group. Their leader Shownu is currently in the military. There were 7 members but Wonho left the group in 2019 and we still treasure him. He’s solo now, also currently in the military, and I recommend reacting to him too. He’s our buff lil angel. But… Monsta X are the grown men of kpop. Jooheon and I.M are the best rap duo. Vocals and visuals are top tier. They are a little aggressive and hard but also have some softer jams. They also have 2 all English albums that are awesome! Please react more to them. Monsta X are the most underrated group in K-pop and I don’t know why. They are amazing!

Monsta x is a 8 year old group who is well known for self producing, solid performance and stable discography. Ateeze and Stray kids members have openly said they are fans of their seniors in the kpop. However Monsta X isn’t just kpop, but talented group who has its own signature sounds in all their production. Including their English albums. Hope you get to know and hear more of them

Monsta X is a very funny group to get into. They are very genuine and different than most K-Pop groups. Their leader Shownu will be back from the military in April. If you ever get a chance to see them live, please go see them. It was one of my most memorable concerts I have been to so far.

So the "ugh" sound you were referring to in the beginning is vocal fry. While it is absolutely used for the delivery to sound "seductive" It's actually something used in a lot of pop these days. It's (in very simple terms) the lowest part of the vocal register where the vocal chords vibrate but no actual tone comes out. Anyone can go into vocal fry if they relax their throat and it can actually help a singer find the right placement when beginning a line. It can be detrimental if over-used, but in moderation it's a good way to, as mentioned - find placement and also add color and an air of "laid-back....ness" to the sound. At best it's this and at worst it can dry out the vocal chords if abused and way too much air is pushed through.

I'll skip the introduction to MX, because I'm sure the comments have already done that. I'm just very hyped that we get a Teddy reaction to my favorite group! Stay awesome, man!
As for recommendations: Stuck, Alligator, Shoot Out, Fighter, Gambler, Dramarama for title tracks.
For sidetrack/b-sides: Beastmode, Rodeo, Thriller, Secrets (they have three songs with that name, so I'll go with the one from the One of a Kind album). Honestly they're pretty well known for being all over the place musically and their b-sides slapping, so be ready for a lot of suggestions. Not to mentions a lot of solo work by the rap line.
Finally, a potentially confusing amount of members in the MVs in the beginning.
Other Monbebes pretty much covered all the information, I'll say Monsta X are for sure a self-producing group, nearly all the members write, Shownu does not have a writing credit yet but im sure once he comes back he will, Minhyuk and Kihyun both have writing credits on Monsta X songs and Hyungwon, Jooheon, and I.M have writing and producing credits on Monsta X songs. Since their Fatal Love album the title tracks have been written by Jooheon, this title track was not written/produced by a member however Hyungwon, Jooheon, and I.M have writing credits (as rappers Jooheon and I.M write all their own raps) on this song (Hyungwon wrote his and I.M's vocal verse). Even on songs where they may not personally write/produce Monsta X are still heavily involved with the song building process (how the vocals are sung) and are very much responsible for creating the "Noise Music" sound in Kpop. They're known as "The 3rd Generation Beast Idols" as they have a "manlier" / more "masculine" and adult sound and image that follows in the footsteps of the 2nd Gen Beast Idol groups before them like 2PM. You'll really love Monsta X and their music, they're excellent singers, writers, producers, and dancers and are very kind with warm and welcoming personalities. I really appreciate you reviewing their song, you appear to be well versed in music/song building and I love reactors who are knowledgeable because they're really able to get a grasp of who Monsta X are as a group and have an appreciation for their music. Please check out the rest of the album as well as some of their earlier work like their debut album Trespass, Beautiful (an album I personally consider as a turning point in their career), and Fatal Love. Monsta X is 🔥. It's a group of grown men, with grown music. They are the most talented and versatile musicians with the best rapline. The only group I follow because with them it doesn't seem like I'm stanning teens😄. React to "Love" from them. I love that song with a touch of the 90s. Thanks.

Oh my gosh I’m so happy you did monsta x. I have always said if you are a stay you will love monsta x. I suggest love killa gambler and love. Yes they do self produce some of there things. The major song writers in the group is hyungwon IM and jooheon. The rappers are IM and jooheon. Jooheon is the harder rapper. IM is the smoother but he makes you pay attention to what he is saying. And yes kihyun face really does look like that lol. And we call kihyun the God of kpop. The structure of the song is different but works for them. And bangchan likes monsta x. There is six members. The leader shownu is in the military and he’s friends with bangchan. He used to be a jyp trainee and he was roommates with bangchan to.
MonstaX been around 8yrs, huge talent, and huge catalogue of bangers.. beauty standards are high in Korea, all idols wear makeup , look perfect, nothing to do with sexuality either. Best rappers in Kpop too.

Thank you for checking out Monsta X! Ok, so the thing you need to know about them - Monsta X are known for their diverse sound and style, whilst always maintaining that Monsta X flavour throughout... So although they are one of the pioneers of sexy, 'beast idol', 'noise music' in the current Kpop scene, that is not their entire legacy. Over the years for the uninitiated there has been this stereotype that their sound is only loud and hype "noise" music, because a lot of their Korean title tracks are selected for high impact performance purposes, due to performance being one of Monsta X's many strengths. The X in their name is the mathematical X - an unknown variable, there to tell us from the get go that they will always experiment with sound and style and not limit themselves sonically or linguistically. They are extremely versatile artists when you dive in past the surface. Their music is incredibly eclectic in style, genre blending and language (Korean, Japanese and English, plus a little splash of Spanish here and there) Their English songs have a different vibe to their Korean and Japanese work, and that allows them to never remain stagnant and complacent, they are an 8 year old group that continually improves and expands on their own skillset, allowing them to broaden their discography (keeping it fresh and exciting for Monbebe) This thirst for freshness and range has shaped them into the incredible all rounders in the industry that they are. They also have a time travel concept running throughout a large quantity of their music, so you'll actually find that their music often has a fusion of old school/retro vibes, mixed with more current and 'futuristic' edge (experimental/EDM etc) Nothing holds them back when it comes to their music and artistry, and they are often known for pioneering a trend well before it eventually becomes popular, and they have become the idols of and have influenced many 4th Gen idols for these reasons.
I definitely recommend checking out their newer tracks first, the ones Joohoney produced and wrote -with others' help as well I believe- (Rush Hour, Gambler, Love Killa, etc) and then get into their older stuff like Shoot Out, Shine Forever, Beautiful, Fighter, Spotlight, Jealousy, Dramarama, Stuck, Hero, omg they have so many good tracks. They have one of the best discographies in kpop imo, and I think you'll enjoy not only their rap line but also the music itself. I won't spoil it but if you like skz you will most likely enjoy monsta x as well :) I'm excited for your journey if you choose to take it!!

Ok soo Monsta x is a self production group, Joohoney (main rapper) mostly produced title track(Gambler, Rush Hour, Love) and some bsides, Changkyun (other rapper) and Hyungwon also producers many bsides and this three make amazing songs. three of them writing Beautiful Liar but not produced this time.

I’m so glad you’re reacting to Monsta X. Both Monsta X AND Stray Kids were the main 2 groups that really got me into kpop. It was only recently-ish that their company allowed Joohoney to produce their songs, more specifically their title tracks. He is hugely inspired by american rap/hip-hop, so he references some iconic rappers from time to time in his writing. His style of producing is one of my favorites. Hyungwon is also a producer and so is I.M.
I hope you can react to Gambler & Rush Hour. Other pinnacle songs you HAVE to check out are Shoot Out & Love Killa.
They Debuted in 2015. If you're an OG gamer(kid wise) "Hero" is a great song, they sampled one of the most popular games in history. They have collaborated and have songs with SnoopDogg, French Montana, PitBull, Steve Aoki, R3hab and others. They do all genres, along with their many Korean albums they have 2 full English albums. As someone who loves all Stray Kids, Ateez, and Monsta X you can literally listen to everything they do. They slay so much. When they started they were actually trained to be a hip hop group but they have started to play around and make different songs but the two rappers are incredible and everyone else is amazing vocally. Someone here is missing tho...it's Shownu. He's the leader and is in the military right now but his vocals are absolutely amazing as well. If you look at any older stuff you'd see him. Also, the one you thought was genetically modified is actually one of my favourite vocalist in kpop. I love him a lot. He does a lot of covers as well in English. You should check them out. Like "Natural" or "Believer" by Imagine Dragons. Also the to rappers have had solo stuff made as well if you wanna focus on the rappers. Jooheon's Mixtape Psyche or the older Mixtape DWTD and Changkyun's (I.M) Duality. Also other MX title tracks like "Rush Hour", "Gambler", "Love Killa". They have an amazing discography if you go back so there's really a lot to look into and maybe you will like something. I hope you will listen to other MX tracks in the future. They really are amazing :)

I really enjoyed the rap parts for the sole reason of what you said; the beat switch up. But I get how it’s confusing lol! Amazing reaction as always, Teddy!

I let out a little gasp of excitement when I saw you'd reacted to some Monsta X. I really fell in love with them with Alligator and Shoot Out but my favourite might be one of their early songs, Hero. They definitely do a lot of great genre mixing in their songs and tend to be more on the powerful side. They also have a lot of fully English tracks (2 full English albums and some assorted English versions of songs) which tend to say a bit to the softer side. Some of the English tracks are not my favourite but still have absolutely stunning vocals.
They also have one of the most emotionally devastating MVs in kpop. I can't watch "Find You" without bursting into tears. It was also the last MV that Wonho was in so it just is devastating all around. Regarding Wonho leaving he was involved in an investigation into weather or not he'd used marijuana. While in the investigation he had has exclusive contract with Starship terminated and he left Monsta X. The allegations were eventually proven false and he was cleared of all charges. After that he signed with one of Starship's subsidiary labels, Highline Ent, where he's had a very successful solo career. We still love Wonho, even if he's not a member of Monsta X any more. On an aside "Eye on You" by Wonho was my second favourite kpop song of last year.

YAAASS!!! I'm so excited for you to check out Monsta X!! They are So Talented and Extremely Underrated by many. Johoney's raps Definitely have a more aggressive edge like Binnie. He's the one we figured you would like the most but IM is a pretty sick rapper too. I saw MX in Atlanta last year and they were Fire onstage. Five guys Rocked the house down and Jhoney had the place jumping with his rap and energy. I can't recall which of their songs would have the Best rap parts but there are many, many choices of great songs. Love Killa, Shoot Out, Beast Mode, Gambler, Rush Hour, Love, Fantasia, Zone, so many more. I just can't Think right now. Can't wait to see what you listen to next. We wouldn't recommend them if we didn't think you would Really enjoy them. ❤️❤️

It's a very interesting evolution in their music but at the same time consistent in their own style, recommend enjoying their most recent songs as GAMBLER, RUSH HOUR, and Love Killa, also their oldest hits as Jealousy and Beautiful MVs. Wonho was forced to step down due to unfounded rumors and Monbebe (the fandom name) protested and fought for six months and he was fortunately then debuted as a soloist. The leader Shownu (good friends with Bang Chan) is currently completing military service and will be out in April. Due to them being a bit older they probably will have two more members enlisting after Shownu comes back.

Monsta X is not self produced to the extent to which SKZ. The amount of control SKZ has over their music is actually pretty rare and all the more impressive. Wonho was a large part in the producing early on but he was forced to leave. Joohoney stepped up into producing starting with Gambler as far as we know.

JYP actually used monsta x as one of the inspirations for straykids, there's footage from a conference of jyp execs using mx as examples of manly and intense idols! Monsta X are nicknamed Beast Idols in SK because they have a very manly and sexy style, and have won several awards for performance. Monsta X adebut in 2015 and have because of that been an inspiration source for a out of groups we see in "4th gen" like Ateez, Stray Kids, Oneus and so on.
They are self-producing idols too! Joohoney and I.M (rap line) have written their own verses on their songs since the beginning, and the last 3 title tracks they had before Beautiful Liar (LOVE, Gambler, Rush Hour) was written, composed and produced by Joohoney. A lot of the member participate in the making of their music and they also are known to have their own distinct "monsta sound". A hugely talented and cool group you should definitely check out more, I know you'll love their b-sides and the rap line!
Exactly! Monsta X are such legends and I absolutely HATE how many people are still sleeping on them or denying their impact, popularity and success smh... theyre THE standard of so many 4th gen groups today and it's time for people to finally acknowledge that!

MonstaX has one of the most interesting rap lines: it's not just the individual skill of the rappers, but that they work really well as a duo. I think you can best see their chemistry in the song "Sambakja", "Dramarama", "Follow"...I'm trying to remember all the songs where the rappers do this sort of "back and forth"

Each group will have its own fandom and they usually have their own name. Monsta X fandom name is Monbebe. Also with some of the songs I mentioned you will see the original 7 members then some with 6 then some with just 5. Their leader Shownu is currently in the military as it is mandatory for all Korean men to serve by a certain age.

Beautiful Liar has such a unique song structure, and it gets so interesting when you dive deeper into it. Like how you described the chorus! Monsta X has a way to mix different genres and still sound like them, their bsides are on another level!

Then give you a little intro, MX debuted in 2015 as a 7-member group, 5 vocalists and two rappers.
They belong to the 3rd generation and are a reference for many groups of the 4th such as SKZ, ATEEZ, WEI and many more, due to their charisma and their hard and great performance. The costumes of many other groups are inspired by them since they are a transgressive group in colors, chains, transparencies and harnesses, but also in glitter, leather and gramourous suits.
BangChan is a faithful Monbebe (Fandom) of Jooheon hahahaha
Many other idols and people outside the fandom talk about Monsta X having a powerful rap line and one of the best in the industry.
Shownu the leader is in the military so he doesn't appear in this cb, he usually helps as a choreographer.
Wonho the former member, also in the military, is now a soloist but used to compose and produce lyrics for the group.
Then there is Hyungwon, the boy who goes out on horseback, he usually composes lyrics for the group almost always in English.
Minhyuk usually brings atmosphere and ideas to the group, in lyrics although he does not compose himself, he is a sub vocalist.
Kihyun, he's the main vocalist and debuted as a solo artist and he's brutal at it too.
Jooheon is the main rapper, producer and lyricist of the group but he is also a vocalist, it was not until 2021 that his company let him put his own production as the main theme, they always included them as B tracks. Although they always read the other main songs, the raps are written by themselves, in addition to helping with their composition and production.
IM is the smallest, he is a rapper and vocalist, he also produces and composes. Both rappers have released their solo album.

Welcome to the Monsta X world. They're a huge influence for many 4th gen groups because they're OG in many ways. Their vocal lead, Kihyun -- the one who looks like an NPC -- is really just beautiful like that, but has one of the best voices in the industry. He's got stamina for months and has both vocal stability and rare range. The group's rappers -- maknae I.M started the video and was the handsome one in chains -- and Jooheon (Joohoney) are some of the best in the industry. Please check out the rap duo's live performance of Sambakja, because it goes hard as hell (think Daechwita meets Ddaeng, but with added drum solo). The group as a whole has become much more active in writing and producing their own stuff (see Gambler and Rush Hour). Jooheon has always done it, but the other members are now well credited in the past year for their contributions. And they're arguably one of the best English-language groups going. Their songs are so catchy they'll stick with you forever. They have another member, leader Shownu, who is doing his military service but should be out for their next comeback (yay!). I hope you'll have a chance to add them to your k-repetoire!
Just as a side note, SKZ leader Bang Chan was a trainee for quite a few years and used to share a dorm with Shownu who is MX leader.

You mentioned that they do have similarities to Stray Kids and you are not wrong. Monsta X did a lot of work on what is commonly known as "noise" Kpop music and Bang Chan does listen to their music. I would say they were a soft influence on their sound. They also were known as the 3rd gen "beastly" idol group for having an edgier sound and styling, though they do have the occasional ballad.

Joohoney is a big fan of MJ the one with hard rap, he's an underground rapper before debut. They have english song ft French Montana called Who Do U Love MV hope you can check that out to know their range. They are the only kpop group who has released 2 full english album called, All About Luv and The Dreaming. which is very different from their Korean released. And they also have released alot of Japanese album as well which is harder than their korean sound. You wont regret digging dive to this group they are very high quality performers and confident in their talent.
