    Lots of gear……lots of tricks…….very impressive! I love the angle of the camera…..so interesting see what a Psytrance DJ/Producer has to know in order to mix this often- dense and difficult style of music……

  • @djhannas
    @djhannas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    It’s good. There was a guy mentoring me & he thought me not to play with the tracks every second on my playing & he said music producers put too much effort for making the tracks & if the track is good already let it play & dance to it. Now days people are touching the nubs way to much to show people they are djing. What turns me off in the psytrance scene is dj’s don’t let the tracks play long Enough for the dancer to live in it. Just hammering, smashing jump from this track to that track. You know what I mean?
    I have this sense that you have not start your djing career from psytrance style!

    • @ElevenTimes
      @ElevenTimes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hanna Shirazi yes I know what you mean. I think it depends on the track and the style of Psy trance. Some tracks as you mentioned should be played really long, so you can really dive into it. However their are some tracks where I just like a small amount of the track or if I wanna keep the energy high and I wanna surprise the crowd... on my point of view it’s absolutely fine to mix a lot between some tracks.

    • @djhannas
      @djhannas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eleven Times Eleven Times as you said some tracks, just to be creative. Using same tool for the whole dj set could be tedious. The difference between psytrance & other electronic styles is that people are tripping & dj’s job is to create space for tripping. So even a thinner track can create more tripy space. Thanks for reply 🙏🏼

      I will check them out….who is the best - song creator- in Psytrancs? I got into Psytrance relatively late , my early explorations were when Acid House came out ……Psytrance is a kind of sped up Acid House , but with more high end equipment and futuristic techniques……which is why I love Psytrance so much……when did it start? Are the roots in Acid House?……..great set by the way……what tracks are your current favorites? Anybody,? Drop a few names? …….i am the number 2 man in Sky Cries Mary……I have been playing this stuff for Roderick- , founding member of SCM….., he is getting into it too….i predict a Psytrance tune on the next SCM! 46:57

      @@ElevenTimes Okay so:
      - structure of psy trace tracks, when is it right to move on to the next track and keep the energy high?
      - technics of mixing, if it's a beatmatch, how to avoid clashing because it's a problem I notice happening whenever trying to beatmatch. also really liked the mix when the next song hits the breakdown
      - what part of the songs I should be mixing in and out?

    Some other questions:
    1) How long have you been DJing?
    2) How many months or years does it take to become a DJ with your skillset?

    • @ElevenTimes
      @ElevenTimes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      1) About 2 years
      2) depends on the effort you put into it. If you are practicing every day I think you will be able to reach your goals very fast 💨

    • @qilinpsy
      @qilinpsy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      second depends on how your technique is. I have been DJing for 2 years now and recently I have been told by many independent DJs, that my mixing can't get worse and I really should start over and learn everything differently. So in my case, it will take another 2 to 3 years to have the skillset shown in this video.

    I am so digging this bro. I am an older cat 58 years young and been rock guitarist for 45 years. Started going to raves back in the 80s and was part of the original MDMA rave seen. I recently have become obsessed with psytrance and is essentially only music I listen to now. I decided late in life I am going all in and becoming a professional trance DJ. I am ready to buy my first rig and was going to buy the CDJ 2000 or Denon 6000. I have an ableton studio and play midi guitar so I know the basics of electronic music production. But I do not no shit about DJing. Would you ever consider doing some private skype lessons? This is how I learned Ableton. And let me know what your thoughts are about learning on a denon? I cant make up my mind. Your mix is kicking now.

    what is the song at 5:42 called?

  • @blackcyborg009
    @blackcyborg009 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Question:
    1) A lot of nightclubs use 4 units of Pioneer CDJ. What are the advantages of having 4 CDJ units instead of 2?
    2) Some DJs also add Pioneer RMX1000? What is it for?

    • @ElevenTimes
      @ElevenTimes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, if you have more decks you can be more creative, for example mixing more elements of different tracks and create something new. For the beginning 2 are absolutely enough.
      2. The RMX Offers more Effecte and is useful for sampling tricks

    • @blackcyborg009
      @blackcyborg009 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see.
      By the way, another question (for those who want to go into DJing or for those who will start from scratch):
      Is it important to first learn DJing basics (e.g. Beatmatching, beatmixing, transitions, tracklist programming, cue + hotcue management, etc.) before going into CDJ and DJM operation? Or can these two skill-sets be learned simultaneously?

    • @ElevenTimes
      @ElevenTimes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think for the beginning it would be smart to start with a low budget controller like the DDJ 400. After getting comfortable with rekordbox and all the functions this controller offers and you are still convinced that you like to go on with this hobby then I would start thinking about some CDJs or XDJ.

  • @djbanger1527

    In the set i hear the kicks are clashing so it makes the mix predictable.
    Mixin' Psytrance is a difficult to mix and a unique than any genres,
    Cuz there are tracks the kicks in mid area are clashing and doesnt sound good with the outgoing track.
    So heads up !
    I recommend listen to each track carefully and play it in my cue in headphone
    if the tracks got kick is sound good enough with the outgoing track so play it.
    Anyway if the kicks are clashing
    drop mix swap the mids
    I mix these tracks on 10 oclock mid and high
    but make sure the song close in 2 semitones than each other that it'll be sound correct
