The shadow explanation was super helpful! I am getting back into art after a long break (like a decade) and I noticed when ppl shade there are hard shadows and blended ones and I didn’t know how to decide which one to use but now I can understand it better :)

I love this tutorial! I think I unconscious end up going to painting style whenever I'm shading I just love adding details and going all messy but neat at the same time

As of late I'm moving more and more towards painterly exactly because it has this expressive quality that the otherwise more technical 'clean' method didn't provide me. Of course, neither are bad, they have pros and cons, but I appreciate you taking the time to show off both and how you approach them. I think the advice for picking a directional light is great and I'll try and apply it to my own work as it may simplify the process for me a bit, I hadn't considered it thus far.
