Color choice tutorial! Have to say I really needed this ahaha. Value affecting competition between colors was also very interesting to note! I feel like drawing something to try all these new stuff out :)

Love your art style i was curious about your coloring technics your artworks are so unique 🤩This tutorial helps a lot i’ll try it❣️ i am so happyyy Thank you !!
thank you so much for this tutorial !! colours are definitely something I struggle the most with haha I'll def be referencing this video a lot until I fully understand and memorise the steps 😭

@@Astrodgirl Yeah a lot of digital art concepts translate well into traditional and vice versa. The biggest difference is the mess and how much i can afford to make mistakes 😭😭😭 This is why i stick to digital when coloring
Hey! Thank you :) with movement I mean to vary the hue slightly. So that in a yellow there are also shades of for example blue, grey, red etc instead of just using the value (brightness) and saturation of one single colour (basically the rectangle you see when you select one colour on the colour wheel). I hope this makes sense :)
god-tier video kuro and just when i needed it !!! i just know i’ll be revisiting this vid quite a lot bc 1.can’t ever get enough of a color theory vid, and 2.the way you explain things are sooo much easier to understand and way more interesting 🥹 i hope you realise that what you’re putting out for the art community is so so amazing and loved, and i hope this helps you to keep going 🫶

This is actually the first guide that really helped me so much with coloring! I feel like my coloring for my art is always too loud or too many colors jammed into the one illustration, but this guide really helps so much 😍
Thank you so much for this gem!! 🤩 This bit 9:49 about adding gray to shadows and a more vibrant color to enhance the overall shadows (WITHOUT MAKING IT CLASH IN TERMS OF VALUE!) made something click in my brain for practicing grayscale painting! I know this tutorial is about color but it helped with a lot of other aspects of painting too. Also, the tinting makes so much difference in in the cohesion of the drawing 🤌.Thank you so much again 🙏🙏🙏
I am glad! I am always thinking about how I would like to get this topic explained and try to just include the stuff which is actually needed for my process :) I am happy to hear that it is understandable :D
Dear @kuroshiro this was insanely helpful and you're literally a God-send cuz I was just telling my girlfriend that I don't know how to draw these highlights and shadows and the detailing, looking at some of the anime art out there, and I landed on your video and wow! I will think of making a Procreate video but honestly I am a noob when it comes to this app 😅

Aw thank you for your kind comment! I am glad it's somewhat helpful :3 I am wishing you all the best for your art. Colouring can be so much fun since there's so much you can do. So yeah, all the best! :3
Thank you so much. Until now I truly understand why artists pick colors for shadow or highlight. They chose a totally different hue and I got no clue why they did it. You explained and it makes perfect sense. This video helps.
Wow, Kuro-san, that's fabulous! Despite there's an enormous amount of tutorials, your videos always stand out and show something you could only learn from a true artist. I love how you depicted color wheel using sections and not continuous spected -- I think it's very important to show that colors can be clusterized, both on pallete and on a drawing. Also you provide technical info in such cute entertaining way :3 Your example about context is something beyond my expectations -- even if I knew about such phenomemon, your depiction is so cool that I almost felt how new neural connections formed in my brain. Everything in the video is extremely informative and laconic at the same time. My deep bow, thanks for the video
I'm currently in an art slump atm and don't know how to progress in my works. I've always watched your helpful tutorials in the past but this video has taught me the exact things I always get stuck with: colour T^T Thank you Kuroshiro for always making such wonderful videos to help other artists like me

That's a wonderful feedback to receive! Thank you so much. I love to include these little animations of showcasing things here and there. So I am glad it payed off :)
Oh thank you! There's so much to learn on every stage of your art journey. So I try to simplify what I have learned in order to explain it to others but also myself. I think this method in general is one of the best learning things ^^
I really like seeing your content, it is accurate and useful. I love the background music, it is relaxing and pleasant to listen to❤❤ Thanks for the tips !!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been feeling that my color choices were extremely boring. Everything was easy to understand and follow. Thank you again!
THANK YOU! you have no idea how this vid made me understand shadows and ambient occlusions more and reflected lights. I've always been struggling in this area when shading and always felt like my colors weren't harmonious with each other but seriously thank you!! ❤
Loved the songs in the video and also i found it really helpful not only for the explanation but even from the pov of the inspiration actually im not good on that i usually stop on the sketch avoiding thw colo even in digital cause maybe i wasn't thinking of it like trying to find what i want but i was thinking i would find the right colors not understanding the things at all and watching people like u making art these way with these songs makes me think some people are not as bad as i thought, really liked the effort on this presentation even the cover of the video is dope❤.
Thank you so much for this one! Coloring is where I have the most trouble, especially picking the right colors. I usually prefer a more reddish/orangish skin tone for characters like some artists on twitter use, but it always looks off when I do it myself. I think my surrounding colors might be way too saturated so the whole thing is maybe too much. I will definitely have to play around with cooler colors more!
Have fun! I am trying different styles currently with flat cell shading and Saturated colours and damn..that's so hard to master so that everything looks cohesive. I can recommend using an overall colour set to multiply or overlay to give all colours the same tint. Maybe that helps :)
Colour theory is one of those things I struggle with. This video was very helpful in making more clear on how I should try to apply my colours in the future. Thank you again for another amazing video. ❤
That's true. There's so much to talk about when it comes to colours. I wanted to keep it as comprehensive and simple as possible and just explain the fundamentals which apply for my process :) I hope it's helpful in this regard :)
Thank you sooo much for this! I've been looking for someone to explain it and i never found a good explanation other than just ah yes lets add this color (without any context why) . I've been trying this style for a long time now and slightly failing at it, so this helps a ton!
Thank you! I know the discouraging feeling of "failing" but I think no matter what it's still some sort of learning :) so I am glad you are keep drawing. I am wishing you all the best :3
I loved this video!! it helped me a lot actually!! I‘m still pretty new to digital art and been in dispear or hoe to render and couldnt wrap myhead around it, and then I found this video!!!
I am glad it is helpful! Actually getting into digital art can be such a fun and nice experience. Sure there's soo mich things and techniques but taking it simple and working like a traditional artist can be more beneficial than forcing stuff. So just have fun and work intuitive :) sorry for giving advice I just thought it might be encouraging 🙇♂️
Thank you for sharing your knowledges, it reminds me of how messy the way i colouring. Compared to mine, you did it clearly and cleany, now it's time to change and get better 😂
Whoah what a time. Right now I'm on the way to practice color. And this vid is something that I definitely would need for study material. Again, thank you for all your efforts making and arrange this video ❤
OMG THIS HELPED SO MUCH i always knew how colours work but i didnt understand the concept and where to put it and th basic theory of it so my drawings were really bad and this finally taught the thing i was looking for this whole time TvT TYSM TYSM TYSM
Just a small question! I am trying to learn and study along with your video but I cant seem to find the brush you start to use at 4:18 for the basic shading lay out!
The brush actually doesn't exist anymore when you mean the marker tool. Sadly the creator deleted it from assets. But basically every semi opaque brush will work :) the usual go to brushes I use are linked in the previous video.i hope this helps you :)
That's actually very handy to get a darker value but I like to alpha lock the layer and adjust this basic shadow to make it fit better into the lighting scenario :) have fun trying :3
my head hurts ugh, so much info ahahaha ... i really want to learn this .... i'll slowly pause and apply .... really informative ... thanks!!!! now i can move from base colors ... and really lineart with thin lines looks so clean O,,O

That's a wonderful feedback to receive! Thank you so much. I love to include these little animations of showcasing things here and there. So I am glad it payed off :)
You made it so easy to understand! Thank you so much
I am glad!
Thank you for sharing, it is always amazing to learn from a more experienced artist!
Oh thank you! There's so much to learn on every stage of your art journey. So I try to simplify what I have learned in order to explain it to others but also myself. I think this method in general is one of the best learning things ^^
I really like seeing your content, it is accurate and useful. I love the background music, it is relaxing and pleasant to listen to❤❤
Thanks for the tips !!!
Glad to hear that! Thanks for the feedback :)
this video arrived just in time, just started learning colors, thank you sm, helped me a lot !!! ♥
That's great timing then! Thanks for commenting :3
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been feeling that my color choices were extremely boring. Everything was easy to understand and follow. Thank you again!
Oh I an glad it was easy to follow and understandable! Thanks for your feedback :) experimenting with colours can be really fun :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!! SUPER HELPFUL
I like the mixing reflect color & local colour part. The fruit example one. Its super helpful. Ty for the tutorial
I am glad to hear! Thanks :)
You're my favorite art artist
Aaahh thank you for this tutorial! It clears up so much stuff for me!
I am glad it does! Thank you ^^
Thank you so much for your tutorial! I look forward to studying it!
Thank you! Hopefully it's helpful :)
THANK YOU! you have no idea how this vid made me understand shadows and ambient occlusions more and reflected lights. I've always been struggling in this area when shading and always felt like my colors weren't harmonious with each other but seriously thank you!! ❤
Thank you so much!, it was so easy to follow along with :D
Loved the songs in the video and also i found it really helpful not only for the explanation but even from the pov of the inspiration actually im not good on that i usually stop on the sketch avoiding thw colo even in digital cause maybe i wasn't thinking of it like trying to find what i want but i was thinking i would find the right colors not understanding the things at all and watching people like u making art these way with these songs makes me think some people are not as bad as i thought, really liked the effort on this presentation even the cover of the video is dope❤.
It was super helpful, thank you!!!😻💕💕💕
This is SO INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank yoouuuu😭😭
@@kurohshiro It is definitely helpful. ☺️
This really helped!! Thank you ✨️
Thank you sooo much for this!
Ooohh I’ve been waiting for a video like this from you, thank you so much ❤❤
Ahh nice timing then! Thank you ^^
Thank you for sharing your knowledges, it reminds me of how messy the way i colouring. Compared to mine, you did it clearly and cleany, now it's time to change and get better 😂
It's a really good video but a bit complex to understand so gotta watch it multiple times. Worth it tho
Whoah what a time. Right now I'm on the way to practice color.
And this vid is something that I definitely would need for study material. Again, thank you for all your efforts making and arrange this video ❤
That's wonderful to hear that it was the right timing haha thanks a lot 😌
OMG THIS HELPED SO MUCH i always knew how colours work but i didnt understand the concept and where to put it and th basic theory of it so my drawings were really bad and this finally taught the thing i was looking for this whole time TvT TYSM TYSM TYSM
Just a small question! I am trying to learn and study along with your video but I cant seem to find the brush you start to use at 4:18 for the basic shading lay out!
The brush actually doesn't exist anymore when you mean the marker tool. Sadly the creator deleted it from assets. But basically every semi opaque brush will work :) the usual go to brushes I use are linked in the previous video.i hope this helps you :)
this is a great showing of how color variation changes art
Waaaa, I've been struggling with colors on a drawing I've been working on recently. Can't wait to study this tutorial and apply the info 🥺🫶
Oh I am wishing you all the best for your art then! Trying new stuff with colours is actually the most relaxing part for me. So have fun! :)
never heard of using the same colours on a multiply layer :) thanks, ill try both
That's actually very handy to get a darker value but I like to alpha lock the layer and adjust this basic shadow to make it fit better into the lighting scenario :) have fun trying :3
Very Well Explained, thankyou thankyou!
my head hurts ugh, so much info ahahaha ... i really want to learn this .... i'll slowly pause and apply .... really informative ... thanks!!!! now i can move from base colors ... and really lineart with thin lines looks so clean O,,O
**Adds to Clip Studio Paint playlist**
