  • My first time rebuilding a hydraulic cylinder. It went surprisingly well, so I thought I'd share what I learn with everybody.

Thanks for providing the part number!

You didn't show how you replaced the seals or repaired the cylinder. Your video was a diary of your experience rather than an instructional device.

Thanks Dean. I have to do the exact same project x4. Just waiting for it to warm up a bit more before I do.

Just did one and is there some place you can just get that inner seal and sweeper?
I have rebuilt these several times and to be honest, not really had to do a total rebuild. It's always that inner seal or the sweeper. I'm a self learner from before I had you tube and if I set the bucket up in the air and leave it for a day and it doesn't hit the ground I'm good. Am I wrong in doing that? If it ain't broke...

I did both cylinders several years ago. Found what I needed at Grainger. I replaced only 2 items, a seal and the sweep. Sadly I don't recall the part numbers. I initially removed the seals in question, measured them and then matched with what I found in the Grainger catalog online.

@@charlesmceniry3568 If you ever require seals I would suggest a seal and or o'ring supplier as they are your best source for Rod seals, u-seals , Polypaks, gaskets, o'rings, ETC.
A great supplier would be O'Rings and Things in CA or elsewhere. ( don't let the name fool you, they have all high pressure seals) OR A.C. DePuydt in South Gate Ca.
Grainger is the last place you want due to the fact they buy form these suppliers and charge anywhere fro 3-5 times the price.
Those seals would have only cost you about $15-$20, $30 MAX , and Grainger? $$$$$
Just some helpful info as I am in the Hydraulic repair business.
These companies are in CA. and easily found by google OR JUST LOOK for a local seal or hydraulic supplier near you.
Hope this helps in the future.
      Tom in NV

By the way, best to replace ALL SEALS because of age or wear, the piston seals (on the ram) may bypass and cause loss of pressure so while you have it apart, replace everything IMO.

What serial number was on the cylinder itself?
