I never understood the entire "it's not real". I've done the "real" version for years, meaning starting with scholastic wrestling, greco, freestyle, and transitioning into submission wrestling and MMA. It's as real as a stage play, soap opera, etc except 100x more physical. I mean, I get the chance to watch a story play out and they beat the hell out of each other during it. It's pretty cool imo. It's called suspension of disbelief if it's good enough. It's where you logically know it isn't a "real" story, but they sell it good enough for you to get caught up in anyway. It's what any good fiction does, but they tell the story with not just dialogue and such, but also physically telling it. That, and the athletics ability needed is through the roof, AND what helps add to the suspension of disbelief is that even though the story is fictional, the danger is VERY VERY real.
Here's another one: When Lita cheated on Kane to be with Edge, that reflected a real-life scenario where she cheated on Matt Hardy to be with Edge, and Kane was inserted as a placeholder when Matt got fired.
