One of the most fascinating things about wrestling is precisely that thin line that separates reality and fantasy. The possibility of a botched move, an injury, real animosity... so many things can interfere with the scripted storyline. I think performers (not only wrestlers, also referees, managers, commentators....) deserve a lot more respect.

For everyone saying the Lita/Edge/Matt affair is missing: that was a reversal of this. It started in real life, then WWE made it a storyline to capitalize on the heat they knew Edge and Lita would have.

I never understood the entire "it's not real". I've done the "real" version for years, meaning starting with scholastic wrestling, greco, freestyle, and transitioning into submission wrestling and MMA. It's as real as a stage play, soap opera, etc except 100x more physical. I mean, I get the chance to watch a story play out and they beat the hell out of each other during it. It's pretty cool imo. It's called suspension of disbelief if it's good enough. It's where you logically know it isn't a "real" story, but they sell it good enough for you to get caught up in anyway. It's what any good fiction does, but they tell the story with not just dialogue and such, but also physically telling it. That, and the athletics ability needed is through the roof, AND what helps add to the suspension of disbelief is that even though the story is fictional, the danger is VERY VERY real.

3:05 Good times of Bossman and Shamrock as a team, ironically a year before they joined the JOB Squad, Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly and Flash Funk were kind of one of my dream teams, and a week or two later from that time, the two of them along with Road Dogg/Double J Jesse James jobbed to The Truth Commission on an episode of Raw, and then a year later, they became a regular tag team for three-four months until Scorpio/Flash left WWF/E and Bob became a heel Hardcore Champion.

The funniest thing about the "PIggy James" angle was it was during a time when WWE was pushing the B. A. Star anti-bullying campaign pretty damn hard.
I was at that RAW with the whole Vince McMahon death angle. Turns out they never warned the local authorities they were gonna blow the limo up, they were pissed.
I did see something on the WWE Network with Shawn and Bret and actually what you mentioned at 4:00 about Shawn telling Bret to get out of the ring....That was a work as was the aftermath backstage to give a view to everyone else there that it was real when it was not.

You missed the famous "Love Triangle" between Matt Hardy,Lita, And Edge. That's the only reason why I watched this video because I thought it was going to be number one. That whole rivalry was a straight up classic. Probably arguably one of the greatest story lines that turned real on wwe ever in wwe history. Matt Hardy was even calling Lita by her real name Amy Duma and Edge by his real name Adam Copeland. Their was even a documentary about it on the wwe network under rivalries. How do you miss that by not putting that in this video? In the famous words of Mick Foley Have a nice day!(x

Oh man, the hogan/savage thing, I was just a kid then but I remember that. Watching the growing tension between them every time hogan did something as simple as holding down the ring rope so Elizabeth could climb in was taken as hogan making yet another move on her and so on. Wow, its been forever since I remembered that.

Implying that she somehow represents "normal women" who are still hot despite not having perfect bodies. Mickie James' body comes FAR closer to perfect than it does to "normal".
